“Fantastic Family Vacation”
Our family of 10 celebrated 3 birthdays and our 50th wedding anniversary here from July 3 to July 11, 2015. We could not have found a better place. We rented the "Pavillion" which was perfect for our group. It was clean, well decorated, comfortable beds. and the kitchen was stocked with all the dishware, silverware, pots and pans, and everything needed if we had wanted to cook "in" all the time. ( we chose to eat out except for breakfasts). The "Pavillion" is the largest of a number of units on a pretty complex with a nice pond, fire pits, good landscaping, parking, washer/dryer, etc and ideally located in short walking distance to the shops, market, and restaurants and the best ice cream of Southwest Harbor. It is very quiet and the owners parents ( delightful) live in one of the units on the property. The owner, Marc Chalfoun was extremely cordial and helpful in recommending activities and restaurants for our special occasions. He also responded immediately with extra towels we requested one time and he allowed us to check in a day ahead of our reserved week which was a huge advantage for us. We felt the rate was very reasonable considering the size of the unit, the 4th of July week at the peak of their tourist season, closeness to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and activities that entertained 6 adults and 4 grand children from 3 to 13. WE WOULD ALWAYS STAY HERE IF VISITING THIS BEAUTIFUL AREA OF MAINE. Chuck Raches, Bozeman, MT
We had a great stay at anna's Quietside. The Butterfly Suite was very clean and spacious. Marc was so helpful and gave us a ton of great suggestions on where to eat and what to do. Even with the shut down there was so much to do and see. We can't wait to come back!
“Clean, comfortable, cozy and beautifully designed”
We can't wait to come back. We had an absolutely wonderful time. I highly recommend staying at anna's Quietside Cottages. We stayed in the Rose cottage. It was great. The kitchen is so well designed. Everything is at your fingertips. It has a large bedroom upstairs with a balcony and attached bath. Downstairs is a smaller bedroom with two twin beds. There's a downstairs bath off the great room. There's an outside grill and picnick table. We were so glad we stayed there. We went to Bar Harbor twice and it was so crowded we wouldn't have enjoyed staying there. We appreciated the quiet laid back attitude. It felt like we were in the woods, yet we could wakes to town in about two minutes.
“Our Fabulous Blue House adventure”
Owners were very responsive to needs of guests. We needed a fire one day when it got very chilly. Three people showed up to show us how to build a fire in our woodburning stove. We loved the Hospitality Suite where we could look for treasures for our kitchen, we wanted a blender and we found one, what a delight. We could select from a plethora of Dvd's, and we even found long handled forks for toasting our marshmallows for s'mores. Having a campfire pit and circle was a plus for us. We were attracted to the Blue House from the beginning because of the big deck, and the hammock. The garden was a very nice extra. Fresh greens for our salads, and strawberries for breakfast. The Quietside location was excellent for exploring the island. We like a quiet, restful vacation away from the hussle and bustle. There were plenty of things to do, and places to explore in the area. We were within walking distance of downtown Southwest Harbor, which was great. Reiki treatments were available downtown on Wednesday evenings, and we all took advantage of that.
“Wonderful stay at anna's Quiteside Cottage”
We spent a week at anna's Quiteside in July with a bunch of friends. The home was great, spacious, tucked away in the forest while being only a a few blocks from the center of town, resteraunts, the store and people selling the best blueberry pie imaginable. The host, Marc, was really fantastic. He gave us great advice on what to do in the area and was alway friendly and available, including providing advice on how to cook lobsters. The house has good bbq facilities, a large modern kitchen, spacioius rooms and a comfortable living room. The complex has a variety of facilities, games and information on the surrounding area.
“Staying here was a wonderful experience!”
My husband and I and our friends (a couple) stayed at anna's last week not knowing what to expect. We stayed in the airstream while our friends stayed in the Tipi. Never staying in either type of accommodation before we really didn't know how it would be but were excited about the adventure. From the start, we were greeted by Marc (one of the owners,) who was very friendly and accommodating to our every desire. Staying in the airstream was like walking back in time but with all of the comforts and conveniences of today. The bed was comfortable, the plumbing worked very well and the kitchen even had a new fridge! Our friends enjoyed the Tipi and loved waking up to the view looking above. Their bed was comfortable and they loved the size of the outside bathroom. We had the great opportunity to meet Marc's fiancee, Victoria, who was a joy. We were neighbors with Marc's parents who we greatly enjoyed talking to everyday. We were sad to leave but look forward to visiting again soon! We highly recommend staying here. If you aren't as adventuresome as to stay in a Tipi or an airstream, Marc and Victoria showed us some beautiful cottages on the property that would be wonderful to stay in as well.
“The Hyewood House was very clean and comfortable with roomy acco”
Our host was very professional, friendly and accommodating. The Heywood House was very clean, quiet, comfortable and roomy. I liked the location because our travels were to see the entire island and this was very centralized and not as busy as Bar Harbor. We were able to cross the street and walk near the shoreline for about a mile walk each morning. The house is about 1 mile from anna's Quietside Cottages where the "hospitality suite", with whatever you didn't have in the house, is located. Thanks Marc
“outstanding facilities, setting, and service”
A colleague and I visited Maine with 10 students from Texas in april. We were touring the New England area and planned to spend a weekend exploring Maine and hiking in acadia National Park. Anna's Quietside Cottages were far beyond our expectations for lodging. When I first contacted Marc and Victoria, they were helpful in directing us to the cabins that would work best for our group: the upstairs Pavillion and the Rose. Both of the cottages were very clean and comfortable, more like cute homes or hotel accomodations than outdoor cottage rentals. From the beginning, Marc offered assistance with our plans while we were in Maine, and his helpfulness continued throughout our stay. He personally showed us around the grounds when we arrived, made sure we were comfortably settled into our spaces, offered a variety of amenities such as maps and movies in the hospitality suite, and built a campfire for our group on our second night there. Access to acadia and to Bar Harbor were easy, but we could have comfortably stayed on-site at anna's and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We could not have asked for better accomodations or hosts and hope to return soon!
My family and I spent a week in late October at the Pavilion cottage. The weather was gorgeous, and there was still a fair amount of fall color. Our young daughters were thrilled to explore the grounds of anna's. There is a pond, nature paths, a vegetable garden, and a fire pit which provided days of entertainment for the kids. The cottages are a very short walk to town. The owner showed us a shortcut through the woods to the town, where we walked every day for shopping and great meals at local restaurants. We visited at the end of the high season, but most places were still open. We even participated in pumpkin carving and storytelling at the town library. It felt like a town from a movie. Our stay at anna's was a wonderful getaway for our family. It was definitely worth the long drive for a truly unforgettable experience.
This summer we took our young family on a vacation to MDI. We spent a lot of time researching and booked the Bluehouse at anna's Quietside in January. Once we arrived at MDI, we realized how much that homework really paid off. First, the location on the island is unbeatable for those that want to enjoy a variety of what MDI offers. We hiked the National Park most every day we were there and fully explored it. Drive time to great hikes and even Bar Harbor from Southwest Harbor is minimal. It is really central to island activities. Second, is the location of the Bluehouse and anna's property. Up a private drive, the Bluehouse is nestled in a quiet and secluded pine forest with a pine needle floor. And...somehow it's located just out of downtown...a quiet and easy morning walk to the bakery! The house is extremely comfortable and spacious for our larger family. It is very clean, cozy, and comfortable. No TV...just a DVD player and unlimited movies to pick from. You do not need a TV on this vacation...you won't possibly experience all the fun that can be had even if you stayed all summer. All amenities are available in the hospitality house which is located within a 30 second walk from out of the woods of the Bluehouse. The staff extends themselves to make you aware of all the fun opportunities that can be had in your short stay (even a month would be a short stay on this island and this National Park). We would have never gone on the Dive-In Theatre without guidance from the staff. That is a memory our children will never forget. Many other suggestions of bakeries, restaurants, ice cream, and of course, lobster piers/joints...Food is really important on vacation!!! I can't say enough of anna's. It's reasonably priced in a central location with a committed staff in a comfortable secluded cottage. Unbelieveable and memorable fun.
