“A home away from home in paradisse”

Reviewed 20 Dec 2014

We wanted a quiet getaway and both Grenada and Moonfish Villas were perfect for us. Moonfish is tucked away on the Northeast end of the island. There are two rental villas which will likely come to feel like your own by the end of your stay. The living quarters are clean, comfortable and connected to a patio. Walk upstairs to your own kitchen, living and dining room. The upstairs is also connected to a balcony with a breathtaking view of the Atlantic. Electricity, WiFi and telephone are all available. You can spend the day doing nothing but taking in the view on your balcony or relaxing poolside. The property is on Bathway Beach so you can take relaxing walks or go swimming in a designated swimming area a few minutes down from the villas. If you feel the desire to adventure, the owners can set up a rental car for you so that you can explore the picturesque island laced with semi trafficked roads which would make any rally car racer content. The center of the island is a mountainous rainforest that offers many hiking trails and waterfalls. The South of the island is where you will find most of the activities and it is also the touristy part of the island. Kayaking, snorkeling and scuba diving are all great adventures in the South. Closer to home there are multiple hot springs, beaches and historical sites. A rather unique experience would be to catch a boat ride over to Sandy Island (the owners can arrange transportation). Sandy Island is uninhabited and located just East of Bathway Beach. It can be seen from the villas. We had a great day alone on our own private island walking the pristine beach, snorkeling, and exploring the ruins. It would be wise to stock up provisions in St. Georges though you will find what you need around Bathway. Adrian "Spaceman" Mitchell runs the local shop (5 minute drive) where you will find day to day provisions. Sauters is only 15 minutes by car and they have all you will need to fill your kitchen. the closest major city is Grenville which has plenty of shopping for both provisions and souvenirs. Though, if you would prefer to head out for your meals there are some great restaurants which range from fry ups to fine dining. The Heights is a culinary must, located in Sauters. If you are lucky enough to find yourselves in the area on Friday, just another 20 minute drive from Sauters would land you in Victoria for "Fish Friday" which is a great event full of local food and fun. Grenada is a fantastic Caribbean getaway with lots to offer and I am positive that we will return. Moonfish is perfect to make the home away from home vacation a reality.

“Fantastic, relaxing getaway”

Reviewed 12 Dec 2012

In November, my wife and I along with two other friends spent a fantastic week in Grenada at the Moonfish Villas. The villas are simple, but elegant and very spacious. The bedrooms are downstairs, while the kitchen and the living room are upstairs. The true "living room" however is the patio on the second floor with postcard worthy views of the ocean and the Bathway beach. It is a treat throughout the day. There is also a beautiful patio on the first floor, accessed through french doors from the bedrooms. I really enjoyed rolling off the bed onto the patio to watch the sunrise laying down on the hammock. Bathway is somewhat far from the more touristic southwest part of the island, so do not expect a bustling neighborhood. There are no grocery stores walking distance. There is a superb restaurant called aggie's a few minutes walk from the villas. Otherwise, we cooked a few meals at home or drove towards Sauteurs where there are quite a few good restaurants. Bathway beach is beautiful but it is safe to swim only from a small portion of it. This area is a 2 minute walk on the beach from the villas and are essentially tidal pools on the shore. They are great for relaxing and short swim, but probably not ideal for someone looking for extended swimming. Likewise, the dipping pool in front of the villas is a great way to relax while sipping a few drinks and enjoying the spectacular views. And finally our host Kitty, who made our stay memorable. She was incredibly accommodating and helpful and made us feel at home. We sent her a list of provision before our arrival and she stocked up our fridge. She helped us getting our rental car, gave us great recommendations and was there for all our needs. We cannot say enough about her. All in all, I would recommend Moonfish villas to any one looking to truly get away from the crowds and relax. We really enjoyed our time.

“Absolutely beautiful”

If you are after a peaceful secluded getaway these villas are perfect. Kitty & Russ are very friendly and helpful. Whilst quite basic the villa was exactly what we were looking for and I can honestly say that I have never slept so well with the sound of the sea rendering me comatose every night. The nearby restaurants are a very pleasant, short walk away although if you needed provisions you would definitely need a car. Because the villas are so close to the sea many electrical items, hairdryer for instance, are not provided so you would have to pack your own. This was the only area where I thought that the accommodation lacked, however this did not detract from our stay at all as we had our laptop and other electrical items with us. The other point which is not made clear in the advertising is that the sea is too dangerous close to the villa to swim and only a small area is safe which is a short walk up the beach. Suffice to stay, I cannot wait to book again. My husband and I both agreed that this is easily one of the best holidays we have had. Many thanks Kitty & Russ, keep up the great work x

“Gorgeous views in a tranquil setiing”

Moonfish Villa is located in a charming area of Grenada on the north side of the island away from the crowds & tourists. A location well suited to the adventurous traveler or traveler seeking a relaxing holiday just steps from the sandy beach. The villa is a lovely 2 story villa offering spacious and lovely accommodations with a view of the beach and water that is unbeatable. Kitty is wonderful and most accommodating.

“Jaw-droppingly lovely”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2012

The island is peaceful, geographically diverse, warm, unspoiled - and safely in the hands of the people who live there. The houses are cleverly designed and like giant beach huts, with lofty ceilings, bare wood and chunky ratan furniture. The noises of the sea waft in from French doors on both floors to complete the vibe. The beach outside is yours, and it's a perfect place to sit and wonder. The breeze means its never too hot, and there is plenty to see - magnificent frigate birds were our favourites, but there were also pelicans and some other things we didn't recognise. We drove the island every day. It's tiny on the map, but the winding roads and mountainous, jungly interior makes it a mission to move even a few miles. A week wasn't quite long enough, but that's the sign of a good holiday. Kitty really put the effort in to help our stay. I don't mean in a functional, superintendent's way. I mean she thought about what would add to a holiday. She fixed a puncture after I'd driven our jeep into her wall. She had us picked up from the airport. She found us restaurants, picked up our shopping, advised on local culture... But we'll always, always remember the trip, arranged by Kitty, to Sandy Island. Which was so perfect it was almost comical. I attach a photo. We would do the whole trip again, without changing a thing.

“A Beautiful Beach House!”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2011

We have just returned from a fantastic week in Grenada. The accommodation was wonderful - very stylish, great views and brilliant balconies with stunning views. Kitty and Russ made us feel very welcome and their advice as to where to go and what to do was invaluable. Grenada itself is a beautiful island with very friendly people. We enjoyed the peaceful location of Bathways Beach and really liked being based in the North of the island. We will certainly be recommending Grenada and Moonfish Beach Houses to our friends.
