Very Good

“Everything was great!”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2012

Our 2 families stayed at this house for 5 nights at the end of august 2012. We loved it and would strongly recommend it for people who like to visit places "at their own pace". House itself is a perfect combination of the old but very well maintained charm (furniture, interior, and cellar) and modern amenities (all new bathrooms and well stocked kitchen). The location worked very well for us as well - we've been able to stroll around Torino, spend a day on the beach, shop at the market in asti and of course tour vineyards in alba and taste local wines! The only regret we had is that we did not have at least one extra day to just sit around the pool, drink wine, look at the bountiful scenery and do absolutely nothing. Please plan accordingly - we hope we'll be able to do it next time around.

“Relaxing holiday in a lovely Piedmont house.”

We really enjoyed our stay in angelo's home set on the edge of the village. Angelo's welcome pack of food and wine was most welcome after our journey. The house was more than we expected and well equipped and had a very homely feel. It was wonderful to wake up and see the snow covered alps from the bedroom window and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside. The house has a huge garden of about 6 acres with lots of fruit trees and hazel nut trees so it was easy to relax under a tree and enjoy a book. The village was a minute's walk away and 50 metres down the road was a very friendly family run local shop/butcher that sold just about everything. We had fun with our basic Italian which seemed to get us by with good humour. Also it was only a short stroll to the next village was a bar and small restaurant for local lunchtime meals. Another find was a few minutes drive away called Crotin 1897 which is an agritourism winery and restaurant run by a lovely family. We enjoyed our trips around the area and day trips to the northern Lakes and alps. So much to do, the wonderful market at asti, the fabulous regional food including the 'Fritto Misto', the little hilltop villages and festivals, wineries, beautiful castles and churches everywhere. Angelo and his lovely family were great hosts and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Angelo lives in asti and wasn't far away to deal with our requests and the friendly locals in the village were always happy to have a chat to. Angelo had great tips and advice not found in tourists books so we really started to find all the little treasures of this part of Italy. Angelo even established a huge vegetable patch for us so we never ran out of tomatoes, zucchinis and salad goodies. When it became warmer the pool was set up near the BBQ so a meal and swim 'al fresco' was the thing to do. We had a great holiday which we will always treasure. We can highly recommend angelo's home and will book with him for future holidays.
