I booked our trip to the Holiday Lifestyles resort in DR thru Leslie & Bob Mitchell. They were very accommodating and didn't mind answering lots of questions. And their prices were very competitive. Our villa was one of the best. We were a party of 6 adults and appreciated that what we were promised we received. The staff was wonderful and should we go back we will certainly book through this couple.
My husband and I traveled to Puerto Plata back in 2011. We came across information on a villa through VRBO and were jubilant that we choose to use Leslie and Bob. This was the first time that we traveled to Dominican Republic, but we were pleased that we choose this location to celebrate my husband birthday. Leslie and Bob give us so much information about the location before we arrived there, and they were happy to answer any questions that we had (and boy did we have questions). Do remember when you enter DR there is a $10 charge you have to pay at the airport. When we arrived at the airport, there was a few hiccups but that was taken care of with just a phone call. The driver we encountered at the airport we so polite he made sure that we were happy and comfortable. The driver stopped off at a local spot so that we could get beers and coconut water .. what a way to start out vacations. When we arrived at the LVHC the driver took us the VIP check in .. this is different from the other check in location. During our check in process some of the information that they had was not the same as was confirmed by Leslie and Bob but in the package of the “Helpful Tips and Suggestion for Your Vacation” we were told to make sure that we had a copy of our confirmation letter and e-mail correspondence. When the receptionist said, we could not get the gold bands that was taken care of with just a call to Leslie and Bob. During out check in process we made reservations for all the restaurants we wanted to eat at. ( We eat at a different restaurant every night). Once we were checked in we got our golf cart and out bags were taken to the villa.(we had a 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath all to ourselves).. Boy oh boy were we in for a treat. The villa was beautiful, we had breakfast cooked for us every morning poolside. The chamber maid was so helpful, and so was everyone we encountered at the villa. The Sunday night VIP beach party was the bomb. Hubby and I had so much fun, and there were so many choices of food from around the world. One of the nights, there was a BBQ cooked for hubby and I at our villa poolside and we were waited on hand and foot, compliments of Leslie and Bob, together with a bottle of wine. Did I mention that we had alcohol of our choice delivered to our villa every day. One of the days a sale rep came by our villa and asked if we wanted a tour, we did and told them after we were not interested and when we were ready we will let them know. They were polite, and we were on our way to enjoy the rest of our vacation. I loved Serenity beach because of the peace and quiet. On the other hand my hubby like harmony beach because it was more upbeat (not to mention the ice cream shop). We enjoyed all the restaurants. We also enjoyed sea world and had a lot of fun. Upon our departure out transportation was waiting and we made it to the airport safely. We are going back with the whole family this time and can’t wait. Leslie and Bob thanks for all your help we can’t wait to share this gem with our family in 2016.
“Can't wait to go back!”
My husband and I honeymooned at the resort back in 2011. While there, we met Leslie & Bob, who are shareholders at the resort. They encouraged us to book through them whenever we wanted to go back to the DR. Booking through them has quite a few advantages and you really do receive the five star treatment! They are like rockstars at the resort, haha! :) Leslie and Bob are fantastic hosts - we received a sweet note from them on arrival and they checked in with us to make sure that our vacation was going smoothly. The villas are lovely... we have seen a few different kinds while vacationing at LHVC. The few times that there have been problems with the villa, a call brings someone out from maintenance immediately to check into it - whether it was a clogged toilet or even to replace light bulbs. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and helpful. The maid service with breakfast is fabulous, and our personal concierge was incredibly useful to help us figure out what we were going to do each day. Each time we return there are new restaurants and new things to check out. They are always expanding and improving on their menus and offerings. We've gone by ourselves and with other couples, and are looking forward to our next trip! During one of our trips, we even brought back a little parasite who was born in September 2014. :) Thanks so much Leslie & Bob! :):)
“Crown Villas - VIP - The way to go!!!”
My family (10 ppl) stayed at the Crown Villas in Puerta Plata and worked with Leslie & Bob - the villa we received upon arrival was beyond beautiful! It was beachfront, clean, a nice pool, and someone came and prepared a full continental breakfast every morning for our family! Leading up to the trip we had many questions regarding airport transportation, safety tips, resort fees, what to expect in the Dominican, excursions, and many more - Leslie & Bob answered each question and/or provided sites to refer us in the right direction in a timely manner. I would highly recommend booking through Leslie and Bob as well as a stay at the Crown Villas - VIP service! While in Puerta Plata, we enjoyed the food, the drinks, the beaches, our own private pool, the free tickets to Ocean World were awesome!! Some excursions we enjoyed were swimming with dolphins at Ocean World, swimming with sharks at Ocean World, and the 3 in1 of ZipLining, waterfalls / hike, and horseback riding. I felt that everything on this vacation was reasonably priced and well worth the money. Some favorite restaurants were Trapiche, Belline, and Simply Gourmet which are all on the resort!
Mr. And mrs. Mitchell helped me with booking my trip to DR and all I can say is it was AMAZING!!! Their villa is EXTREMELY beautiful!. I recently went for july 4th weekend with me and one of my friends and we had a 3 bedroom villa ththat we rented from them. Furthermore, during our stay at the villa in DR we had a chef come to our villa and make us a wonderful breakfast everyday during our stay, everyday our fridge was stocked with alcohol beverages, water and juice. Dominican Republic is a beautiful place to visit but if you do I URGE you to book yourself a villa with mr. And mrs. Mitchell, all inclusive food, all inclusive drinks, parties and so much much more, all I can say is ENJOY because I really had a great time.
“Amazing 30th Birthday with Friends”
Our trip to DR was amazing. There were 8 of us traveling ( ages ranged from 30-67) and there was something for everyone to do. Cons: We had 8 ppl in our party and were given a golf cart that held 4, we asked for a 6 person but even after our golf cart broke down twice and we had to call for help, they still wouldn’t replace it. Another con was the ppl trying to sell us share into the property, going there with 3 other couples we were very interested in buying as a group. However, we were promised so much (i.e., hats, shirts and goodie bags etc) and after our 4hr tour and lecture we got nothing and were left with a ton of unanswered questions. The following days a few different ppl came to our Villa and hounded us but still no one gave us answers or the stuff we were promised. The Villa was nice, however we did lose power at least once a day and they only gave us 8 beers a day for 8 ppl, 4 of which were beer drinking men. Pros: We flew into Santiago which was an hr shuttle ride (via Coco Tours) it was nice to see the country and its local villages. The realization of how they live was eye opening and it was a great experience. When we got to the resort we checked-in which was very simple and the lady behind the desk was very nice. We were brought to V4, every morning Maria came and cleaned our villa and made us a wonderful breakfast. We tried both buffets for different meals but found we liked Casablanca. The food was much better and it was less crowded. We made reservations at a different restaurant every night, it was nice to be able to try new types of food every night and if we didn’t care for it then we just simply headed over to the buffet after wards. The shows were awesome and the VIP beaches were amazing. The service was beyond unbelievable, food, drinks and cigars all day served to us while we were soaking up the sun on king size beds..it was just what we needed for this relaxing vacation. All in all it was amazing, we strictly went to just relax and do nothing. Next time we will try an excursion. But in all honesty you can go, never leave the resort and have fun doing all that they offer right there. We booked through Leslie and Bob; they were beyond amazing and helpful. They supplied me with such in depth information that when we got there the staff were very impressed with how much I knew. They were very easy to get in contact with and always answered all of my questions. They kept in contact with me throughout the 6 months after I booked until the day of our vacation. I read a lot of horrible reviews but they always eased my mind and reassured me with everything I had concerns of and if they didn’t know the answer they found out for me!!! THEY ARE AMAZING, I’ll book with them again.
“WANT TO GO BACK ALREADY!”
We visited Puerto Plata, DR in the early weeks of May 2014. We had 3 couples including ourselves, and frankly we had high hopes, but didn’t know what to expect, as it was all an original visit for all of us. To say we were all beyond astounded by the accommodations at the resort does not do it justice. The resort is clean and safe and our 3 bed/bath villa was nothing short of amazing!! The property has plenty to do, a good variety of restaurants and great staff. Our favorite was breakfast in our villa each morning. The little personal touches were also great, from the welcome card from Bob and Leslie, to the animals constructed from towels the maid left us, plus more than I can list in between. Bob and Leslie were absolutely amazing to work with during the planning stages of this trip. I personally talked to Leslie on the phone more than once and corresponded via email with Bob numerous times leading up to our dates. They are both so helpful and willing to provide suggestions. The fact that we got to enjoy their Member Benefits is amazing. We were treated like royalty. When we got home my husband thought he left his sunglasses behind and Bob went out of his way to contact the resort to see if anyone had found them. I actually hesitate writing such a great review, cause we want to keep this gem a secret to ourselves! A couple minor pit falls: Our golf cart’s lights didn’t work and the brakes were questionable. However, we took it to the golf cart site and they had 2 mechanics work on it right away and we had no further issues. Also, you need to ask around if you want food after 5:00 and you didn’t make a reservation, or you will end up at the buffet (which isn’t horrible, but it is basically the same thing each day). We did find one place that serves food after 5:00 on our last day. If we had to criticize anything it would be demeanor of some of the locals outside of the property. They were just rude and acted like you were an inconvenience to them, but you will have that no matter where you go! The good definitely outweighs any minor criticism worth documenting! We want to go back already!
The 3BR Villa was great for the 2 couples, my daughter and grandchild. The Patio, Pool, Breakfast and Housekeeping Service was accomidating and served us well. We use the Golf Cart to visit our favorite beach Serenity Beach for Crepes, Osters, and fun in the water and the beach beds were awesome. We also visited Ocean World, and took the Sarari Tour, which was awesome. Enjoyed the Sunday Buffet and fireworks, dancing, and other shows, as well. We all had a great time and the resturants and food was enjoyable.
We go to the Dominican Republic every year because we have become involved with a small community and school near Puerto Plata. The last three years, we have stayed at the Lifestyle Villas in Cofresi. It is a truly unique place. The villas are lovely. The service is phenomenal. The restaurants and bars are excellent. The beaches are relaxing and beautiful. What more can I say? It is a stark contrast to the world outside the resort but is wonderful for a group of travelers or a family, and so nice to "come home" to at the end of the day. We do get quite spoiled there and appreciate every minute of it. We typically take a group with us and each couple has their own room with a king bed and private bathroom. The rest of the villa is common area but it easily allows for plenty of private space when, or if, you want it. It is so nice to have a private pool to relax in and around. There are too many restaurants to choose from and all of them have been very good. We especially like the VIP Gourmet and the Indian restaurant, Moomtaz. You might think the place sounds too good to be true, but as a frequent traveler to the DR, it is hard to beat and really is that good. We highly recommend both the villas and Leslie and Bob. We also recommend that you experience the real DR while you are there. The community of Cofresi is easily walkable from the resort and a quick climb over the hill from Serenity Beach takes you to Costambar. Both are nice communities being mostly populated by various ex-pats. For the real experience, you need to go to the rural areas to see how most people actually live. Be careful, but do see the real DR. The people are friendly, quick to smile, and most will try to help you in any way they can if you make the effort to connect. Take lots of $5 and $1 bills for tips. You can easily make someone's day with just a few dollars and a smile.
“A great trip”
We went on this trip with my sister-in-law and my daughter's family. We went in February and the weather was super. Only one day of rain in the morning, and the rest of the day was fine. There were great breezes at the beaches. My grandsons had a great time swinging in the hammocks at Serenity beach. I t was a wonderful trip. Bob and Leslie were amazing. When my sister-in-law got the dates mixed up (she booked her flight a day after we left) Bob handled everything and made another reservation for her and we did nothing except for paying $50.00 more. She had an extra night and everyone was happy. The 4 bedroom house was so open and bright with a beautiful pool. The guys came everyday to clean it. We had a barbeque the last night at the house. The staff was great. Breakfast was cooked everyday at the house which was convenient when you have a 2 year old and a 5 year old. The food in several restaurants was excellent but some others (I think it was The VIP)was so so. The first night I had a filet which was good, but another night there I ordered the same thing (medium rare) and it came out very well done. I think it was the language barrier. Order things rare. They offered to change it but I was over it. The brazillian place was awesome as well as the skewer place on a beach. We made arrangement with a tour from Oceanworld that was great. I think the price was $400.00 and we had a van to ourselves with a driver, guide and a paparratzi who took the videos. We went to Paradise Island for snorkeling. It included the boat ride to the island and we could stay as long as we wanted. Some of the tours were only able to stay 45 min. or so. They took us through the mangroves and the best was the little tiny lunch place. The food was great and we were the only ones there. The guide was fabulous, he spoke very good English and was fun. The only bad thing was the $700 airfare from Los angeles. We would love to go back and do it all over again.
