“Wonderfu town, lake, and location”
We 5 enjoyed our stay. This house even has window screens! Very unusual in Europe. The beds were comfortable and the outside areas were fun, even though there isn't a lawn, but 2 nice balconies. It has everything you need. There is a very nice restaurant right next door, and the lake with boat excursions is a block away. The town is fun, too, and everything is available without a car, but there is parking right at the house. The manager was extremely helpful. The only negative was having to spend $50 to send a bank transfer from the US instead of being able to use a credit card, or to mail a check to the owner in Georgia. We recommend the house!
“A lovely base to explore the lake from”
We had a lovely relaxed stay in allensbach. The house had everything we needed and was close to shops and restaurants to keep us fed and watered. The station was close and the free travel in and out of Konstanz was an added bonus. We spent our days exploring the towns and villages on the lake. The Zeppelin Museum at Friedrichshafen was excellent as were the Stilt houses in Uhldingen. Flipkey make it clear that the house has one bathroom and a separate toilet but Trip adviser doesn't. A slight disappointment. The house is old and of wooden construction but a negative would be that it's quite dark in the sitting area making evening reading difficult. But don't be put off. If you can live with one bathroom and some dim lighting this is an excellent, well equipped and welcoming house.
“Charming, excellent location, Large rooms and huge bathroom!”
We stayed in this fantastic home in allensbach for around a week, and we loved it! Four adults and one 8 month old wee girl (Madeleine) The bedrooms were fantastic, we stayed in a large room with huge glass doors out onto a balcony that looked over the lake. Our bed was so comfortable. They also organized a crib. cot for Madeleine which was really appreciated. The kitchen is excellent and the bathroom is fantastic. As a traveler I recommend you book this place! the only change I would make is to have instructions for the home in English as well as German and have the WiFi password written somewhere on the instructions. Close to a delicious bakery, a few restaurants and bars and a nice wee supermarket. The train is close and the lake is just a stones throw away. 5 stars!
Response from the owner Thank you so much for your wonderful review and suggestions. I will implement them. I am glad you enjoy it as much as my family does! Kind regards, Françoise Heckhausen Evans
“At Home with Peter & Paul”
A storybook experience. Even with the March winds blowing, my stay in allensbach at this fabulous home was worthy of a chapter in a fairy tale book!!! Cobblestone streets lead to the front door of this once swine farm!..Wood burning stove, intimate kitchen, windows winding around the den. Bedrooms and bath upstairs are scrumptious. (I never get to say that word.) The master bedroom, upstairs has views of the steeples belonging to Peter & Paul. It's a short walk to some of the best restaurants. Or you can catch a train to a local open air market or shop in Konstanz. (very hip) I will be back in the later spring to smell the local flowers and watch the boats get steady on the lake...Thank You
“Great vacation rental!”
I would absolutely recommend this house. It is 2 minutes walking distance from Lake Constance, 5 minutes away from from the train station so you don't need a car to get around. The house is spacious, cozy, and very comforatable. It is very clean and the service manager is very helpful.
