“Lovely spot for connection and contemplation”

Reviewed 19 Dec 2014

My three friends and I absolutely loved our stay at the Elijah Haven Homeplace. We all said that we would love to return to this property again. We were most impressed with the meticulous cleanliness of the property and the conscious effort put into making the space restful and comfortable. Whether looking within the cottage or out the windows, we saw only beauty. The property owners have thought of everything. Thank you again for sharing this special property.

“Really nice!”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2014

Everything is the way it's described and the place looks just like the photos. The host was attentive and detailed. The house and grounds were pristine. It was really nice to get away to the country for a while in the privacy and serenity of such a beautiful farm.

“Best home place in Ashburnham”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2014

This is a really very beautiful place to stay. The old cottage is very well equiped and warm. The owner is very thoughtful and helpful to us. We stay for almost two weeks. And we sure will come back and stay next time.

“Elijah Haven Homeplace”

Reviewed 11 Dec 2013

This fall, my wife and I were looking for a place to retreat, spend time with our new son, and enjoy a quiet Thanksgiving week together. We found an excellent place! Elijah Haven Homeplace is a great place to relax, recoup and spend time together. The house is an amazingly restored. It was cozy and comfortable with framed views of the surrounding grounds from every window. The rolling fields, trees, stream and rock walls made our walks memorable. We are very pleased to have enjoyed a week at the Elijah Haven Homeplace. It was a terrific experience!

“A Heavenly Haven in the heart of New England”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2013

This historical, restored, 1830 farm house in the heart of New England embraced us and offered us all the comforts of home as we explored Massachusetts foilage at its peak. The charming cottage is beautifully decorated with furnishings that speak to the era of another time yet it is equipped with chic modern touches like Crate and Barrel designer dishes, Garnet towels and linens, large Rain Shower head, microwave, full size fridge, stocked pantry and so many luxury touches that made us feel so special. John and Scott have decorated with rustic yet exquisitely elegant style. The numerous windows in each room provide a breathaking view of the manicured lawns, Carriage house, gardens, orchards, woods, stoned walls, birdhouses and roses to name a few. We saw a flock of bluebirds dancing among the falling leaves. I curled up in the loft nook and read passages from Robert Frost's Collection of Poems, Prose and Plays--a book I borrowed from our hosts'library shelf. John and Scott were personable, friendly, warm, informative and accomodating. Having arrived late, John had taken the time to call a few of the restaurants to let us know which would be open upon our arrival. As locals, they know the history of their farm and the lovely town of ashburnham and they obviously have great pride in both. My husband and I enjoyed this Heavenly Haven so much it was difficult to depart from the cottage and our Hosts friends. Our week at Elijah Haven Homeplace was physically and spiritually renewing. The experieince was magnificent and one we plan to repeat! Thank you John and Scott for opening your home!

“We were charmed from the moment we saw the place.”

Ashburnham is one of the hidden gems of the state, and the Haven is one of its brighter, prettier facets. If you poke around, there are lots of architectural treasures in the town, houses dating from the early nineteenth century, old farms tucked away, mansions here and there. As for the Haven, the buildings are elegant, the gardens lovely, the grounds pretty and restful. And one is a short drive from Pioneer Valley, Northhampton, the Berkshires, New Hampshire, the museums at Fruitlands. So what more do you already?

“Gorgeous N. Central Mass Farmhouse and stunning property!”

Reviewed 7 May 2013

This is a stunning historically honored property, with stunning open views that include wildlife and original rock walls. We live on the west coast, and this lovely place, perfectly maintained and immaculately kept, was everything we could have hoped for in a New England rental. The grounds, many acres, are partially groomed so as to allow for many adirondack chairs offering unique vistas. We particularly enjoyed some warm spring weather which brought out wild turkeys fanning and loads of other birds. The owners have a wonderful library inclusive of bird books and local history. Very relaxing place. Private and quiet. There is only one bathroom, which is located upstairs. Could be difficult for those with mobility issues. House is lovingly restored, and was originally built in the 1830s. it has two comfy bedrooms and a daybed. It is a sweet antique dollhouse. Absolutely brilliant vacation! Planning a return visit! Highly recommend

“The perfect spot to get away!”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2012

My husband and I came to Elijah's haven for our 20th anniversary from North Carolina. It was the perfect get-away!! I felt like we had escaped to Winnie the Pooh's 100 acre Wood! It feels like you have gone back in time to a quieter and peaceful time. The property is beautiful - a treat awaits out every window. The house is so comfortable and perfectly decorated. The loft over the kitchen with its day sofa and all the windows was my favorite spot to curl up and read and relax. Yet, it is the perfect spot for taking off and enjoying Mt Wachusett or other spots in the area.

“A bit of heaven in ashburnham...”

My wife and I had the distinct pleasure of staying at the Haven Homeplace for a week in august. Although, we have traveled all over the world, we have never felt more at home and at complete ease while traveling as we experienced here. The owners have gone out of their way to anticipate their guest's needs and succeed in making this a destination in its own right.
