“Wonderful Magical Rustic Cottage with a superb View and Good Location”
Myself, Husband and 2 Friends stayed at this cottage for a month. We had an amazing time here enjoying the peace and quiet, the unique sea view, the location and the bunnies and deer we would see daily. The cottage is very comfortable with 2 queen size beds and one set of small twin beds that are suitable for kids. The cottage has loads of room and everything is very clean and wifi works well. We loved the location. 10 mins from Hirtle beach was a local large beach with a great hike up to Gaff's point at the end of it, 20 minutes from Lunerburg where you drive these quiet curvy costal roads. By the end of our month stay we did not want to leave at all, we had become so comfortable in this beautiful, well kept home. I would highly recommend.
“Delightful, whimsical little house by the sea”
We have been coming to this cottage for several years and absolutely love it every time! It is a simple, relatively rustic house, but well laid-out, clean and organized. We have two young children, and all of the little details make this rental such a pleasure: the playroom full of toys and arts & crafts materials; the "tickle trunk" with dress-up costumes; board games for the family; a "pack-and-play" crib for our littlest one; super-cute kid beds; a great collection of kids books; sand toys and lots of room to play outside. The kids can't wait to come back to it every year... We also love it for the gorgeous views of the bay, the impressive gardens, the restful screened-in porch, the unbelievable starry skies, the little brook that runs near the house, all of the little nooks and spots outside to read a book or just take in the view. It really is a wonderful, magical little spot. A gorgeous white-sand beach, Hirtle's, is a short drive and there is a great little General Store at the top of the road for many essentials. The town of Lunenburg is not very far away (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and there are lots of interesting spots in the area to explore. Overall, we would very much recommend it!
“Comfortable and relaxing in a beautiful country setting”
This was a first experience with a cottage rental and it was fantastic. The cottage was rustic but very well appointed and comfortable set amongst beautiful and very lovingly tended gardens. Many places to sit and read a good book or while away the hours looking at the bay or watching the birds and the deer. We were only two adults but the cottage would easily accomodate six comfortably. Really appreciated the screened in patio as we didn't have to worry about mosquitoes. A five minute drive from the cottage was a wonderful white sandy beach called Hirtles which we went to often and fifteen minutes away was the lovely historic town of Lunenburg where we had many a fine meal and lots of shops to browse in. I would definitely stay here again
“Beautiful Rose Bay, where even pegging laundry is a pleasure!”
Driving up the drive to this lovely unusual cottage you see extended well-tended lawn and plantings on both sides of the drive and walkway. The flowerbeds are in riotous bloom welcoming you in all colours, and you haven't even opened the door. The outdoor spaces are well-thought out--chairs that beckon from various vantages, in the shady glade by the brook, or the sunny back or front lawns, on the side sunny deck or the shadier deck near the front door. And then there is the delicious screened porch right off the dining area, perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails, protected from buggy nuisances. The house is spacious with welcoming nooks for reading, relaxing and reflecting. The guest room has 2 rocking chairs with a view out over the bay; the living room offers overstuffed furniture and window seat for perfect reading seats, with a table for playing board games (included!) on inclement days. The kitchen is well-stocked and easy to use. A back area with laundry facilities that leads out onto a patio with a long clothes line to hang out the laundry when it is sunny also has some play space, is especially good for small kids that still need your attention. Lots of sweet details like driftwood handles and hearts everywhere. Sleeping arrangements are comfortable for 6, some in the cozy rooms upstairs, and we stayed in the guest room that has an ensuite bathroom and a convertible queen-sized futon couch that becomes a deeply comfortable bed. Its head is near a window, bordered by a sweetly blooming rose; you might want to leave it open a little for that delicious smell and to hear the foghorn when it blows. This is a delightful place to stay, close to some wonderful sights and places to visit: Lunenburg, a storied town with great guided tours, places to eat, weekly farmer's market, and other delights; the Ovens; not too far from Bridgewater for larger shopping, the not-to-be-missed LaHave bakery; and other attractions, not to mention the beaches...
We realy enjoyed our stay with all the stunning sunrises, sunsets, deer and bald eagles ... sometimes we did not know where to look at first!!! It is a little paradise even in fog and rain!!!
“A home away from home”
Rose Bay Cottage is beautifully situated at the end of quiet lane overlooking the sea. The gardens were a delight for us and the deer. It is comfortably furnished, very clean, and fully equipped for cooking, baking and even entertaining friends. We loved being in a place that clearly held so many fond memories and family history. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to going back again.
“Cozy, Comfortable and Clean”
The Rosebay cottage provided us with vistas of the bay, starry nights and deer sightings in the backyard. We walked on the beach every morning. The cottage was very clean and neat. We made breakfast every morning in the spacious kitchen and sat in the screened in porch soaking in the silence of a secluded sanctuary. We watched Dvds on the TV in the evening and slept in very comfortable beds. There were plenty of towels for showers in the morning. The cottage is tastefully decorated. We used the services of the general store up the road for free Wifi, delicious fudge and homemade pie. We really enjoyed ourselves in the Rose Bay cottage.
“Private Cottage Perfect for Families”
Our family of 4 had a wonderful summer stay at Rose Bay Cottage. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. It had everything we needed and some Maritime charm as well. We enjoyed the beautiful views of the ocean, boats and even some deer. The sunroom, front deck and large lawn were great for enjoying the outdooors. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bedrooms were comfortable. There was plenty of space for the children to play both inside and outside. We also appreciated the washer and dryer. The location is very close to some great beaches in Kingsburg. Lunenburg was also a fun destination. Maureen provided very detailed and helpful information on the cottage and surrounding area. We used many of her tips to explore the area. We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage and would love to return one day.
“Very peaceful environment in proximity to beautiful beaches!”
Rose Bay Cottage has been a wonderful vacation experience for us. The cottage is lovely, very private and well-equipped. We look forward to our next stay there!
