“This Gite would take some beating”
I, my wife, my daughter & my son-in-law had the most wonderful week's stay in the La Villate cottage which will sleep up to 5 people. It has been most beautifully restored to a very high standard by Guy Houdayer, the owner who is a superb craftsman having worked at Versailles; wonderfully comfortable beds, even lovely heavy white bath robes provided, his and her basins in the bathroom, a massive corner bath with seat and hand shower, a deluxe walk in shower and lovely thick white towels. The living room is beautifully paneled with 16th century wood panels and the kitchen is equipped with everything you could wish for. Both Guy & Collette Houdayer are very friendly without being intrusive and we found fresh bread hung on our door on the first morning, a bottle of sparkling wine in the fridge and later in the stay Collette came over with some eggs from their free range chickens and some home made plum jam! Obviously a car is essential for this holiday because it is in a rural situation but there are several very attractive villages and small towns within a range of between 3 and 7 miles which have shops and restaurants and two supermarkets. The small spar town of La-Roche-Posay was out favorite with Cotswold type stone houses built along the river Cruise. It takes a little while to get to the Chaumussay area from the ferry ports and a Satnav is useful, but it is well worth it with temperatures between 24 and 27 degrees centigrade making it an idyllick holiday .
“La Villate est l'endroit rêvé pour les amoureux comme nous des v”
Ce superbe gîte était tout ce que nous recherchions, au calme et au bon air avec une décoration intérieure de toute beauté et un équipement absolument parfait.
The first thing we thought when arriving at La Villate was "What a pity we're only staying for one week!". The "gite" is meticulously and beautifully renovated and decorated and has all the modern comfort one needs. In the gite, the game room and the garden there are plenty of things to entertain the young as well as the less young. The hosts are very friendly, caring and discrete. We will certainly stay here again.
“Absolutely top quality gite”
We stayed at La Villate in June 2012, with two small children. The children loved the trampoline, games room, swings and swimming pool. We loved the care which had been taken in restoring the gite to a very high standard. The gite is extremely well equipped, with everything done to a very high standard. It was spotlessly clean. Our hosts were welcoming yet discreet. We enjoyed the bread and croissants hanging on the door (on Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday) and the fruit from the garden from Colette Houdayer. Guy Houdayer's enthuasiasm for furniture restoration and the tour of his workshops was fantastic. We enjoyed exploring the area and hope to return another year. We have stayed in a number of gites and this is undoubtably the best equipped and most charming.
“A relaxing week in springtime”
La Villatte was an ideal place for our family with 3 boys. The welcome was warm. The house is comfortable. There is much to do in the property. In the neighbourhood you can walk and bike. We were charmed by the Brenne. Interesting visits from La Villatte: Le Grand Pressigny, Angles-sur-Anglin, St.-Savin-sur-Gartempe, Chauvigny (les géants du ciel), Chinon
We spent one week at the gite at the start of September. We found the accommodation clean and comfortable. The extra touches, fresh flowers, home-made biscuits and a welcome-in bottle made our long journey seem shorter. The facilities on the estate were to a high standard. The swimming pool caters for all ages, the bicycles were in good order and the games room had games for every age group. It may be worth mentioning that when we visited, many of the smaller shops in the villages were closed for their annual holiday. The schools had just reopened so the shopkeepers went on their break. This made day-to-day shopping a bit of a challenge. For a family with children of any age, we recommend the gite as a lovely holiday destination.
We enjoyed this location a sixth time : three times in the winter, thre others in the summer; it's an exceptionnaly place, whatever the season !
We are very happy Beautiful Cottage Welcoming friendly Third stay we to return another year
“Positive feed back”
It is a very charming house. Colette and Guy are very welcoming people. We spent a very nice vacation. The furniture was very nice and the wallpaper was interesting because the materiel is in "toile de jouy" which is specifically a french fabric.
