“A Beautiful Hideaway in Tulum”

Reviewed 23 Dec 2014

This home on Soliman Bay is a wonderful place to plant yourself while you enjoy all that Tulum offers. The beach and bay are ideal for children and the privacy afforded is an incredible treat, since your back door steps right onto the beach. Kayaks and equipment are in good shape and we took several rides around the bay in them. The home is as described, with the kitchen roomy enough to make meals while also visiting with others sitting in the dining area or living area. When the breezes are coming off the water, you can feel the coolness in all rooms. The downstairs bedroom has great air conditioning for the rare days when the breeze is light. There are plenty of places in the home to get some quiet time with a book or just your thoughts. One can truly get 'off the grid' with this rental.

“Secluded getaway on a semi-private beach”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2014

It's 38 steps, over dazzling, white sand beach, from the house to the water's edge. We spent most of our days lounging under the palapa, reading and admiring turquoise blue water. We took out the kayaks daily to the reef and snorkelled. We were lucky enough to see turtles a few times. They seemed to hang around the turtle grass just to the left of the house and out on the reef. There are turtle grass beds in the water but the area just to the right of the house is wide and sandy. The house was spacious and because of the way it was designed, there is a constant flow of air through the rooms which keeps out bugs. This property is self-catering and there are no housekeepers on-site. Unlike many of the properties on the bay, Las Brisas is a single dwelling which means you never have to share the beach area in front of the house. We have two energetic kids, so it was nice to know they could make noise without disturbing other guests. Dan and Vera were great hosts. We met them at check-in and they took the time to answer all our questions. I did contact them during the week to ask if we could borrow a cooler for a day trip into the Biosphere and Dan dropped one off promptly. Dan showed us where the best part of the reef was, and where the buoy was located and Vera told us the route to take to walk to Casa Cenote at Tankah Bay. (Go before 10 am and you might be lucky to have the place to yourself). The kitchen was well equipped and there were a few staples already there. We stopped on the way down at PDC to pick up groceries and stocked up in Tulum when we needed stuff. Beach towels were provided (which I wish I'd checked before - because we packed our own). Soliman Bay is quiet. We ate one afternoon at Chamicos at the south end of the bay and the kids would walk north up the beach to Tienda Bob for ice cream in the afternoon. The location is great for dining in Tulum. Just remember to exit kilometre 241 on the 307.

“Christmastime at Las Brisas”

Reviewed 30 Dec 2012

We spend a week at Las Brisas in the nice Punta Soliman Bay. We loved the old rustic house a few meters from the private Beach. A nice and quiet place for relaxing with family where it is possible to swim or take the kyakks to the little reef 200 meters from the beach. Here we saw octupus, triggerfish, turtles, baracuda and different kind of reef fish. The owner Daniel was very kind and helpful to us through the wole week. Thanks to him:) The only thing we missed in the kitchen was a normal oven, although the gas oven could work. We would choose the place again!! //Christoffer from Denmark

“Riviera Maya Hidden Paradise..."Las Brisas".”

“A truely "Mayan" experience in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2012

Dan and Vera went out of their way to make our stay comfortable, meeting our every need. They took us to the places we wanted to go and offered good suggestions where to eat and what to see and where to shop. The Mayan style house was very different, charming, pretty and had all amentities. Lots of room. Missing was internet connection. The beach was beautiful and the bay quiet. We awoke every morning to bird song and a view from our bed of a spectacular sunrise. The road was very rough but the beauty and peacefulness of this place far outweighed the tough going.

Response from the owner Gracias, John & Joan, we particularly enjoyed going to the Organic Farmers Market both saturdays & then on to visit with you both ...and the mango margaritas alfresco. See you all next year. Vera & Dan

“A lovely place for a family”

Reviewed 12 May 2011

This villa is spacious and on a really lovely bay. The bay is protected by a coral so there are no waves...great for little kids. The water is weedy but in front of the villa is a nice sandy area and great for swimming. Not as fancy as some places but still clean and comfortable. My only complaint is the lack of tools etc in the kitchen. A really poor set up if you want to cook for yourself anything more then breakfast. Only 5 forks and 5 spoons for a place that can sleep eight is a bit strange. Also basic kitchen towels and soap etc were missing: had to buy those ourselves! Everything else was nice. Private, comfy, airy and cool I would go back ( with my own chefs knife!)

“Relaxing Vacation at Las Brisas, Soliman Bay”

Reviewed 12 May 2011

My girlfriend and I, along with another couple, recently stayed at Las Brisas located on Soliman Bay and had a fantastic vacation. Although, the accommodations are modest and there's no air-conditioning, the amazing views from the house of the water, the constant breeze from ocean, the laid back and quiet beach and the amazing aquatic life on the nearby reefs make for a very relaxing and enjoyable getaway. We especially appreciated having easy access by car to Tulum, the ruins and the cenotes, without being in the centre of the action and crowds. The owners gave us great recommendations on restaurants and a dive shop, MexiDivers, which we would highly recommend to anyone interested in diving or snorkelling in the cenotes (a must see when in Tulum). Thank you Dan, Vera and Esteban.

“A very beautiful location”

Reviewed 6 May 2011

Las Brisas is fabulously situated right on the beach with amazing sea life and great diving , we saw turtles on our first day. Dan was very good to deal with and thoughtful. However, the eco approach was a bit extreme for our comfort level, some more cleaners for the kitchen and bathroom given we stayed a while would have been good. Although there was help always available we are independent travelers and like to do things ourselves - including a bit of cleaning and cooking. But a great place to relax and definitely placed at the best part of the beach.
