“Comfort and convenience”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2013

Coral Street Cottage was a charming, comfortable residence, ideal for accessing Fremantle and beyond. With towels galore provided (!) a welcome basket too, we were well served. Less so, though, by the Wifi which, unfortunately, was the only downside. Having checked prior to booking that it was available, we found it disappointing that the signal available was quite inadequate for our needs, the access we needed erratic, if not non-existent on most occasions.

Response from the owner Dear Fran and Geoff, What a pity we didn't know earlier about the WIFI. On investigation, we found that when Telstra sent the new modum out they didn't register the Cottage at the requested 4GB level, only a 1GB rate which is why you wouldn't have been able to download films etc. All is now resolved and working very well. Thank you for alerting us to the problem. I hope that you have enjoyed the rest of your Australian holiday. Judy

“Beautifully kept and in perfect location”

Lovely private cottage beautifully renovated and so close to beach, town and restaurants.

“Great, convenient accommodation!”

Coral Cottage was ideal for our stay in Fremantle - so convenient to the centre of action, yet a very unique, cosy retreat at the end of the day. We really appreciated the warm hospitality of our hosts, who went out of their way to ensure that all our needs were catered for.

“Coral Street Cottage is comfortable, well situated and to our ta”

We are an australian couple in out mid-60s who spent a week in the Coral St cottage in early autumn. When we travel our preferred accommodation is a self contained flat or cottage such as Coral St as it gives us a flexibility that we don't otherwise find. We have stayed in flats or cottages in European capitals and rural areas as well as in australia. Our assessment of Coral St is against this background. If you are going to stay in Fremantle I have no hesitation in recommending Coral St cottage. It is well located with ready access to the main town, what it has to offer and the South Terrace coffee strip. South Beach, a terrific swimming beach, is a short walk away. We made do without a car as everything that we wanted to do was within easy walking distance or readily accessible by public transport. But, if you do have a car, we noted that there was sufficient street parking along Coral St for it not to be a hassle. On arrival we were greeted with a very generous hamper of fruit, bread, breakfast cereal etc. sufficient for us to get through most of the week. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with all that you need for self catering should you want to do so. Moreover, if you are staying in and TV is not your thing, the cottage has a small library far above the usual pulp fiction of other travellers' left over paperbacks usually found in australia. On the downside, there is no Wi-Fi, but that is no great difficulty if you need to be connected as there are plenty of hot spots around. Some might find the Cottage's small European shower size difficult. All in all our experience of Coral St cottage was overwhelmingly positive and we have already recommended it to our friends as somewhere to stay if they are going to Perth and want to stay in Fremantle. We have to go back to Perth later in the year and we intend to book again at the Coral St cottage.

“Honeymoon Haven”

Coral Cottage was the perfect place for myself and my beautiful wife to have the most romantic time and will always be so important place for us in both our lives and our hearts. Thanks Judy and Hugh for a setting for memories that are with us forever.

“Outstanding”

Business Traveller Tired of Hotels? Rather than stay in the 'usual' Fremantle hotel, we opted for Coral Cottage this time. Our 6-day experience was as follows: At 5am we started the day a sunrise jog along the beachside path followed by a swim with the local early-risers at South Beach. We returned to to the Cottage and delved into the basket of goodies provided by Judy and Hugh ...honey roasted almond muesli, local organic yoghurt & milk, Wa roasted biodynamic coffee bean, seeded sourdough from the bakery across the street, fresh eggs, tomatoes, mangoes ...the list goes on. Off to work by 730am the cottage is an easy walk to Fremantle Train Station. Returning home in the evening we were able to pause and appreciate the private sunny sandstone encrusted courtyard, bottle of cold crisp white wine and macadamias (also part of the hamper provided by Judy and Hugh). South Fremantle beats Fremantle hands-down when it comes to dining venues, lacking pretensions and devoid of 'bling'. Just great food! Shower and don a fluffy bathrobe in the evening...settle down in the cosy living room ...and discover more goodies...prizewinning books that could keep you reading for a year, local chocolates, an exhaustive selection of CDs. I am hesitant to write such a positive review because I work in Fremantle and Perth frequently and I fear the cottage will become so popular that I will not be able to get a booking! However, this property is so outstanding, and the owners so engaging and pleasant that I am compelled to speak the truth. A truly memorable experience for all the right reasons.

“Cosy, friendly and a great location”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2012

Coral Street is a cute little historic cottage, located in an area full of them, making this a very interesting part of Fremantle. The cottage amenities are of a high standard, and our two stays totalling nearly three weeks were very comfortable. Judy and Hugh are extremely friendly and obliging hosts, and you are greeted with a lovely introductory "care package" including wine, fruit and chocolates to make you feel even more welcome. It's a great location, with atmospheric cafes and shops just a minute's stroll away, and the heart of Fremantle just 10 minutes relaxed walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits.

“idyllic little cottage”

Judy and Hugh were so nice when I enquired about cottages available over Christmas week and opening up their coral cottage to us. From the welcome basket on arrival everything was beautiful.

“Fantastic location”

Reviewed 7 Mar 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Coral Street Cottage. We were welcomed by the owners (who live just next door) and any small difficulties that we experienced during our stay were resolved quickly and with little fuss. The location is fantastic, just a bus ride away from Freemantle. There is a huge choice of places to eat literally just around the corner from the cottage which we really appreciated. As we were holidaying we wanted to be pampered and the location and our hosts did just that for us.
