“It does not get any better than this in Cocoa Beach”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2017

There is check-box beneath this text field asking if I'd recommend this vacation rental to a friend. Absolutely not. No way. I'm not telling anybody, I'm keeping this place to myself. We were in town for the annual Cocoa Beach Art Show, plus a class reunion. Rooms were tight in CB, and many of our friends were staying at the local chain hotel/motels. I had first heard about Jackie and Dave's guest cottages a few months ago, but I didn't act. Much to my surprise, it popped up on TA and was available for the weekend. Best move we ever made. The Manatee Suite is over-the-top great. Bordering on kitsch, but not. Beach Kitsch. Brightly painted stucco, manatees, mermaids, sea turtles, and oh that beautiful spacious lanai, about as big as the entire suite. And a koi pond. All enclosed in a very private tropical garden that gives one little incentive to ever leave. There is a very comfy queen bed...a king would be nice, but would seriously cut into the navigation...and a kitchenette/hang-out area with a pull-out perfect for a couple of little ones or just to flop and watch tv (wall mounted flat-screen, extends to full view in either of the two rooms). No stove in the kitchenette, but a fridge and micro, as well as coffee maker and all the basic utensils and plates and drinkware. The Manatee Suite is in the back of the cottage, with the owner's residence and another suite out front. This is perfect, as it provides a buffer from the traffic noise of A1A. Jackie and Dave's little doggie will great you every time you walk by. The gate locks, adding another level of privacy to the beautiful lanai on a sunny day. ;) My wife and I grew up in Cocoa Beach, and return regularly. For some odd reason we'd never heard of the Done Roam Inn Guest Cottages. I hesitate to tell anyone else about it, because it is simply the best place in CB for for a casual vacation. Located one in from the corner of 3d St. North and AIA, it's within walking distance of virtually everything Downtown Cocoa Beach has to offer in terms of restaurants (breakfast, lunch, dinner), bars, coffee shops, you name it. We parked the car and rarely used it. Of course, the beach is right across the street. I mean, like right there. The cottage also comes with a couple beach chairs and extra beach towels. It felt like we were staying with some friends, certainly not in a cold hotel. I think our future plans will be to rent both suites and have a Thanksgiving on the beach. This is a homey and comfy as you'll find in Cocoa Beach...take it from a guy who grew up here and knows his way around this town. My only advice would be to NOT stay here at any of the times we're in town. I'll be sad if the Manatee Suite is not available for us. We showed a few pictures and invited a few friends over and got the same response from every one...jaw dropping, "why didn't we stay here?!" I may be shooting myself in the foot by posting this review, but Jackie and Dave deserve all the positive vibes I can send. In my travels I've found few places that have made me feel so welcome, so at home, than Done Roam Inn. When we checked out, Jackie and my wife shared a hug. I cannot think of one negative thing to post about the place.

“A hidden gem”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2015

We've been vacationing in my wife's family condo down the street from the Guest Cottage for many years, and had never noticed this quaint tucked-away cottage. Now that our family (with five grandkids) has outgrown the condo, we needed more space to accommodate everyone. The Guest Cottage turned out to be the perfect solution. My wife and I volunteered to "sacrifice" and stay there (remember Brer Rabbit and the briar patch?). It was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Jackie and Dave were great hosts and made us feel like personal guests rather than customers. Now that we've discovered it, we will definitely be back.

“Welcoming Hosts+Private Garden+Cozy Accomodations=A Great Time Away!”

Reviewed 15 May 2014

After driving to The Guest Cottage and hoping to have a weekend that was completely kick-back and relaxing we were definitely not disappointed. As soon as we were shown our home away from home we immediately sat outside in the private patio to take in the fun decor, bubbling water and sunshine. The "beachy decor" inside and out is fun and only adds to the feeling we were further than just a couple hours from home. Our hosts obviously love what they do and it's seen in their desire to provide a comfy place to get away from it all. They recommended fun places to eat, where to take in the beach or enjoy an afternoon cocktail, and even where to pick up groceries. We were maybe an 8-minute drive from the "busy" Cocoa Beach area near Ron Jon Surf Shop, just far enough away to not have to be caught up in the extra traffic and noise. We were within walking distance of several restaurants and literally across the street from the beach. You could easily spend the weekend here and not have to drive if you don't mind walking to nearby restaurants. Bike rentals are also nearby. We'd come back here, most definitely. Surely when we do visit again there will be more fun decor to look at in the patio area or indoors. Looking forward to next time...

“An Incredible Two Nights at The Guest Cottage”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2014

I just returned from staying at the Guest Cottage. I was in Orlando on business and had two days to drive down to Cocoa Beach to catch my breath. The Guest Cottage was exactly what I needed. I am a single Mom with two kids in college. I rarely get to have two days back to back off to myself. The pictures really don't do it justice. Laying on a lounge chair by the koi pond with the running water was so relaxing. The Cottage is clean and remodeled with custom touches throughout. I like new, updated, clean bathrooms, what female doesn't! The owners were exceptional to work with and had great ideas for restaurants that I could walk to. The Cottage has everything-cable tv with all the channels, a small refrigerator, a coffee pot (you need to bring your own coffee!) and is steps from the beach. I highly recommend the Cottage to you, well worth the rental fee. The owners make it very easy to rent the cottage and you can trust them!

“Quite and Relaxing, Great for Couples”

Reviewed 6 Apr 2014

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days and nights at the Guest Cottage in Cocoa Beach. We were in the larger of the two cottages with the Coy pond. Beautifully landscaped and decorated. The overall feeling of relaxation surrounds you not only in your own private back yard but also throughout the inside of the quaint cabin. Everything we needed was provided. Beach chairs and umbrella were available also, that was a great bonus. Beach access is right across the street. Could not ask for anything better. There is also a wonderful spa 2 doors down from the cottage I also highly recommend. Quite, and away from all the hustle and bustle of high rise condos.Wonderful hosts! Jackie and Dave thank you so much for making our short mini vacation a very wonderful and relaxing time. You have a great little piece of paradise. Thank You for sharing. We wish you all the best in the future. If we are ever back in Cocoa Beach we will be hoping to spend some more time at your cottage and Cocoa Beach Thank You so much!

“a gem”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2014

We were tempted to write a bad review to preserve this gem so we could get a future reservation. But in all fairness we can't do that. This cottage is a gem in a great location. It is cozy but we had sufficient room. The lack of a stove was no problem as we did not go on vacation to cook. There are too many really good restaurants within walking distance to waste time inside. We are both gardeners and the yards blew us away. Dave and Jackie have done a great job of planting and creating a restful area. The Koi pond is a nice touch. The host Dave and Jackie are like long time friends right from the beginning. The beach is very close but we preferred to spend time in the back yard. There are photos on the web site but they can not do justice to the reality. I tried a video and that is not good enough. We enjoyed the sound of the waterfall in the Koi pond day and night. We are long time canoeists and it reminded us of camping on the river bank.

“Beautiful Cottage”

Reviewed 31 Jul 2013

I have stayed at the Guest Cottage and absolutely love it. The owners, Jackie and Dave, are very accommodating and friendly. It is beautifully landscaped and each private courtyard is impeccable. The rental units are very nicely decorated and immaculate. Great place!

“Will be back!”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2013

Wanted to take my daughter on a short beach trip before the start of middle school, but we were looking for something small and not a high rise. The Guest Cottages was perfect. Clean, safe, close to restaurants and shops. The cottage was the perfect size for the two of us and the private courtyard was beautiful and has a hose to wash away the beach sand from feet and rafts. Jackie, Dave and family are wonderful and fun to spend time with. The cottage is directly across from a quiet beach access which makes it easy to go back and forth when we needed to take a break or grab something. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for quiet and peaceful stay on the beach. Thank you Jackie and Dave, we look forward to coming back soon. Say "hi" to the iguana for us...we miss him!
