“A hidden gem!!!”
It was our first time staying in the nest and we weren't dissapointed. A petect retreat for a couple and a dog!!! So peaceful and relaxing however within easy reach of busier towns and some lovely walks on the doorstep. Thanks to Allison for her hospitality throughout our stay. The nest offers all you need for a relaxing break, we hope to return very soon!!!!
“Warm and Snug”
Booked last minute and received great service and a warm welcome from Mrs Trafford. This little farm yard building has been well converted creating a snug comfortable bedroom, kitchen, lounge and shower room for one or two people. Despite the gales and stormy rain, the Nest was a warm and snug holiday home, nestled in the lee of hills a few miles outside Keswick. Bassenthwaite is a working Lakeland farming village with a pretty stream running through it and a good pub. I hope to go back when the weather is better to enjoy the great walking offered by the northern Lakes.
Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review summing up our "Nest" and it's surroundings. Sorry the weather was not so brilliant, but at least you had a cosy "Nest" to escape to and chill out. ! Hope to see you again.
“Small but comfortable, good value.”
A quiet location. Friendly helpful "hosts". Cottage had everything we needed. Handy local pub.
“Peaceful self contained cottage.”
Peaceful stay in rustic cottage in the beautiful Lake District. Amenities all satisfactory for self catering stay. Great wifi. Lovely host. Loved seeing the ducks wandering by the cottage to the stream!
“Charming and comfortable”
A converted stable and loft, inside was spotless with a high ceiling and skylights, all in keeping with the building itself. Here is classic Lake District scenery, with the beautiful Borrowdale and Newlands valley only about 10 miles away, and Skiddaw almost within touching distance. Two "proper pubs" to mention are the Sun Inn (4 minutes walk away), and the Swinside Inn west of Derwent Water.
“Friendly welcoming retreat”
Fabulous people, great location and snug little nest! Thank you for such a warm welcome and all your help and cheerfulness! we want to come back!
“Another Excellent Holiday!”
We think this our seventh year staying with our large party in the various properties on Brook House Farm and once again we had a fantastic time. The properties are perfect for our mixed group of adults and children and are in a great location for walking in the surrounding hills. Mrs Trafford is always at hand for help and advice and we found the village pub to be friendly (including dog-friendly) with good food. We are already booked to go back again next year.
Response from the owner Hello Handys! Thank you for the kind review. i am pleased you enjoyed your stay, and we always look forward to you all coming. A lovely group of people who enjoy our village, our cottages, and the surrounding countryside. Look forward to seeing you all again. Alison Trafford
Just spent three nights at the nest cottage lovely little place to relax and unwind great pub round the corner and some fantastic walks to be had. The owners are very friendly and the facilitys clean and comfortable.
We have just returned from a much needed break in the Lake District and will definitely be returning. The location of The Nest is ideal being close enough to some fantastic walks but not far from Keswick which has a brilliant range of shops, restaurants etc. Mrs T makes you feel at home and was very welcoming. Our accommodation was clean, comfortable and warm. It has everything you need and was fantastic value for money. We can't fault it!
“Well needed therapy!”
Could not have asked for more. Perfect for a de-stress break. Heaven is sitting on the bench outside The Nest in the evening with a bowl of pasta, glass of wine and a visit from Mop The Dog (who, by the way, is very partial to a sausage)!
