“Peaceful and quiet getaway!!”
We recently stayed at the Red Rock Room in Durango in the Animas Valley for 3 nights. We could not have been more pleased. Room was ample in size, had all the amenities plus much more than a motel room. We live in the country so quiet is our main concern as most motels are noisy. The red rock room was so peaceful, the deck outside is private and affords a gorgeous view of the foothills to the mountains. The room was clean and so comfortable and no "cleaning smells" often found in motels. We were more than comfortable and slept very well while there. Wi-fi is great. We were just minutes away from the town of Durango but felt like miles away in the country! We were even able to have our trusty travel companion Emmy our Pembroke Welsh Corgi along. We would definitely stay here again it was just the two of us my husband and myself.
“A more peaceful and affordable place around Durango would be har”
We arrived at the house to find it very clean and exactly how I envisioned it. The room sits above a garage in the gorgeous animas River valley a couple miles north of Durango. As others have said, there is no kitchen sink, but that was in no way a problem. We just used the bathroom sink to clean any cups or spoons we used. There were plenty of dishes and silverware, as well as a fridge, toaster, microwave, and coffee maker. There was a queen bed, love seat, table and chairs, and a TV with DVD player. Free Wi fi also. After a full day of hiking and biking or walking around the busy city of Durango, we found it very peaceful to get back to our secluded hideaway. We slept with the windows open at night and could occasionally hear a dog or two barking, but it never lasted long. My wife heard an elk early one morning. Checking in and out was quick and convenient. We had so much fun that we might just have to come back for another stay next summer. The scenery around the area is picturesque and the food in town is phenomenal. I highly recommend the Cyprus Cafe. It was the best meal we ate the entire week and it just has a really cool atmosphere. Overall I would say that we were delighted by the whole experience. If you are looking fore a place close to town, but not too close, then this will fit the bill nicely.
We have stayed at the Red Rock Room every time we come to Durango to visit family. Each time is a great experience. It is quiet, serene and beautiful. Great price that is very close to the town of Durango.
We stayed for a week at this studio and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was easy to find. We were met in the driveway by a black bear who ran off when he saw us, so that was an exciting way to start our vacation - a real highlight!! The unit is exactly as it appears in the online photos. It was clean and comfortable. We ate in most evenings. There is no kitchen sink in the unit (you use a container in the bathroom sink) but as long as you plan simple meals you will have no problems. The unit had a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster plus utensils and dishes. What more do you really need? It was about a ten or fifteen minute drive into Durango (depending on which part of town you were going to). We enjoyed the short drive into town each day as it was pleasurable to drive through the country for part of the journey. Would we go back? Absolutely!! The privacy, size of the unit and the price all made this unit a much better choice than a hotel room in town. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to others.
