“A typical log cabin”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2015

We stayed in the the log cabin with our family from Napa ,it was clean with everything we needed for a comfortable & enjoyable stay, easily accessible for touring and after a day walking in Yoesemite the cabin was a ideal place to relax plus we did not miss wi if ,mobile phones or TV. We live in a lovely part of Engalnd The Cotswolds staying in the cabin was a lovely experince.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us, and we hope that you will visit again soon.

“Beautiful on the outside; average on the in”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2014

We came to Yosemite for 5 nights and this was a great location. From the outside it is a beautiful log home but the inside is in need of attention. It was plenty large enough and price was reasonable but furnishings/ decor is definitely stuck in the 80's. Kitchen towels a bit grungy. Lighting poor inside, very hard to read anything . As well as TV is an old console defintely in need of an upgrade. Overall location was good but wish the log home feel went all the way to the inside.

“Wonderful home for family vacation!”

Reviewed 26 Dec 2012

We spent 3 nights over the Christmas holidays in this home and loved our time there! This is a surprisingly large home with lots of room for our family. It was the perfect location for us - about 40 minutes (over snowy roads with chains on) to Yosemite Valley, and a short trip to Badger Pass for skiing. It is inside Yosemite National Park, which was really convenient. We used 3 of the bedrooms, which were very comfortable. The fireplace was great (we used Duraflame logs), and the kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes, glasses, etc. The check-in process was easy except for the roads being pretty snowy - you have to go down further into Yosemite West to pick up the key from another home. The agent I spoke with at Yosemite West reservations was very friendly and helpful. I especially was grateful that she told us to stop at Vons in Oakhurst for groceries and gas before coming up the mountain. There was really nowhere else to buy either of these things! Our only complaint was hot water that ran out the first morning after only two quick showers (we learned to stagger showers after that). Also, a minor irritation was that the Dish Network satellite didn't work at all well in the snow, even after clearing the dish more than once. But there is a VCR/DVD player and a number of videotapes in the closet (plus ones we brought with us), so we didn't need satellite TV. Also, there is some spotty Verizon cell phone service, which seemed to depend in part on individual phones (worked better on iPhone and not much for an old android phone). We thought the decor was classic and charmingly old fashioned. There were lots of bears throughout the house! We were thankful for the large snow shovel, which got a lot of use. The driveway was awful in winter! Very, very steep and slick with the snow. We learned after finally getting all the way up to not park there and to just park at the bottom. We would highly recommend this place for anyone!

Response from the manager We're pleased you enjoyed your stay. You can also borrow DVDs from the Registrar at Yosemite West (no charge). And you're right; we do recommend parking on the bottom portion of the driveway in winter and using the stairs there for access. In summer, you can drive all the way to the top. Looking forward to your return visit!
