“Our third stay was just as magical as ever. An amazing restorati”
One of the few places we have been able to find that sleeps 16. This is a great place for a family reunion. Even with 16 out-of-towners and 4 local day visitors, it never seemed crowded. The Welsh family has done a remarkable restoration job, but with up-to-date amenities, including satellite TV and WiFi. And three bathrooms! Sitting on the edge of Kerr's Creek beneath the signature willow tree, this getaway seems miles away from everything, but downtown Lexington is only 12 minutes away. We can recommend this wonderful house to anyone looking for a unique vacation experience.
“An Okay Experience”
The cabin interior was very similar to photos, so that part was spot on. Relaxing beside the creek was pleasant and quiet. But, if you dislike musty old buildings this is not the place for you. Even the newer construction smelled musty and we had nice dry weather during our stay. There were visible spider webs (and spiders) in the upstairs bath and bedrooms that got overlooked in the cleaning process so we used the large bedroom downstairs for sleeping. Also, beware the low ceilings-- my husband is 6'2" and he had to walk stooped over throughout much of the cabin (it would have been nice to warn guests about this). I would suggest getting rid of the fake flowers (dusty) and the scented candles which were in all different fragrances that didn't help the smell in the cabin. It was an okay rental but not sure I would give it 5 stars.
Response from the owner I am so pleased that you found the cabin interior to be "spot on" with our website photos, and that you enjoyed the creek. I regret that you felt the cabin to be musty and that there were oversights in the cleaning. We appreciate feedback such as yours so that we can continue to provide the best in vacation rentals. Many thanks, Janeen Welsh
It was beyond perfect. Peaceful. Great location to town. Easy to get to yet with no neighbors! Can't wait to go back!
“Beautiful house by river”
We loved staying in a house built before 1800 but expanded and updated to be very comfortable and lovely. The river can be easily viewed from almost every room and the weeping willow is gorgeous. The screened porch was cool and comfortable to sit and paint.
“Refreshed in one of the most serene settings in all of Rockbridg”
Love "the cabin". Family has been coming here for years. This time for my daughter and her wedding party. Everyone had a wonderful time!
This cabin is wonderful. It is larger than it appears in the photos and is located close to Lexington and Buena Vista, Va but remains secluded. It abuts a slow moving river and has great views from the screened porch and deck. The rooms are very clean and check-in is easy. The owners are a delight to deal with. Highly recommended.
“Another Great Week”
I have been staying at the cabin for 5 years now. What a wonderful relaxing place. Sitting on the porch and enjoying the wildlife and serenity of the creek and property is my favorite part. Location is an easy drive into town for groceries or visiting Lexington. My Family loves the time we spend together there and look forward to it all year.
“Bring the whole gang-Perfect in Every Way!”
Secluded, historic, nostalgic, comfortable, thoughtful down to the last detail! 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, private sitting areas and swing porches-rooms just go on and on-1840's log cabin charm on one end blended seamlessly with modern king bed/picture window over the woods & creek on the other end. Great jacuzzi for two, great slow lazy tubing in the creek out back. We hate to write this rave review becuse if you find out what a neat place this is there will never be room for us again! Laura is an excellent hostess and nearby Lexington is a beautiful charming town. Worth the trip!
“Enjoyable and relaxing vacation”
The cabin provides great amenities, creek for fishng, screen porch, amble space for family dining. Huge yard. Have been coming for five years and enjoy it everytime. The whole Family looks forward to it all year.
“A wonderful family reunion (without a lot of sleep!)”
Our first three grandchildren were born this year - one in late February, one in late May and one in early June. They are scattered across the Eastern half of the USa, so we planned this to be the first "reunion" of us, our five children, three children-in-law and three grandchildren. While the little ones didn't sleep very well (and, therefore, neither did the rest of us), that was not the fault of the cabin. We had a wonderful time together, and it was very special. Everyone loved the cabin, the peaceful setting and Lexington.
