Description

Our Stanhope Cottages has kept a historical record of full bookings for consecutive 5 years since 2011. Situated just outside the entrance to the National Park and ocean, we are far enough away from the main traffic area to provide our guests with the privacy and relaxation they deserve, yet we are still only a 5 minute walk to white sandy beaches! Also, we have newly installed air conditioners against global warming.

Aside from free access to the provincial parks, we generously offer a free pass to enter any National Parks and Beaches on the whole island for unlimited access. We also provide free bicycles for guests' convenience.

Stanhope Cottages is a Quality Incentive Program property which exemplifies our high standards of cleanliness and state of repair, both of which our visitors have come to expect. We offer a variety of accommodations at the three-star rating ranging from a 1-bedroom cottage to a 4-bedroom cottage. We've also been awarded Canada Select's coveted four-star rating on our new three-bedroom luxury cottages.

Whether you want to swim, boat, cycle, fish, golf, or simply relax, Prince Edward Island offers a variety of activities to make your gentle island vacation a dream come true. You can enjoy deep sea fishing, windsurfing, swimming, cycling, bird watching, kayaking, and fine dining, all within 5 minutes of your cottage. There are lots of things to see and do in Stanhope.

Stanhope Cape Beach and Covehead Bay are both conveniently located just a 5 minute stroll from Stanhope Cottages. Stanhope Cape Beach is one of many National Park Beaches located on the beautiful north shore of PEI. Enjoy a morning walk, build a sand castle, picnic, swim, or just relax in the hot summer sun. Complete your day by visiting Covehead Harbour where you can enjoy a sumptuous meal of seafood in Richard's fully licensed restaurant overlooking the Covehead Bay or purchase live or cooked seafood to enjoy in the comfort of your cottage. You can enjoy a morning walk along the white sandy beach, the red soil on the Covehead Bay or along the newly constructed promenade which borders the Covehead Bay from the National Park to the Stanhope Golf and Country Club.

Of course, no vacation on PEI is complete without a deep sea charter from the Covehead Harbour and the spectacular view of the sun setting over the water and the dunes. Both Richard's Deep Sea Fishing and Salty Seas Deep Sea Fishing are located at the harbor in the National Park. Relax and enjoy the sun and water on a charter, tour, or cruise, and catch your own dinner! Experience the thrill of deep sea fishing or take an interpretive tour to learn about aquaculture or the history of the North Shore. Also, it is only 5 minutes drive from our cottage to get to a large Stanhope Golf and Country Club to ensure you have a great golf vacation in PEI. In addition, there are several restaurants or sea foods available around our cottages.

Our coin operated Laundromat is conveniently located for use by our customers. An iron and ironing board are available at office . Tide detergent and fabric softener bounce are available for purchase at the office.

“Superb location for families!”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2011

We had a great experience on our 3 nights at this cottage. The location is perfect -- truly just a few minutes' walk from a spectacular beach. It is actually a much better location than the cottages right on the Gulfshore Parkway, at least if you have kids, because it is secluded and there is no traffic, so you can feel at ease letting the kids play outside with minimal supervision (and there is a good playground for them). The cottages are clean and comfortable. Susie was super helpful as well.

“Pei Beach access family cottages feel like your PEI home”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2011

Over the past 12 years our family has returned many times to Stanhope cottages. They are located within easy walking distance of excellent PEI beaches in the National Park as well as golf, Covehead wharf fishing, and bike rentals for the trails. The cottages are well equipped, scrupulously clean and arranged for both privacy and easy supervision of younger children in a large grassed park area. Families should expect to enjoy pleasant days in the National Park, easy day trips to Charlottetown, Bbqs with plenty of seafood and peaceful sleeps to the sound of the surf.

“Couldn't have been better!”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2011

Our three children and their families [total of 14 people]spent a week at Stanhope Cottages. We rented a 3bedroom and a 4 bedroom side by side and had plenty of room. The great playground was within sight of the decks and a short walk took us all to a beautiful provincial park beach. Several golfed at the Stanhope Golf Club that was about a 4 minute drive away and was reported as great. Cannot think of anything that the cottages were lacking and with the lovely weather thrown in we all gave our family reunion a top mark! Thank you Susie.

“Great Weekend”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

myself,my teen daughter and 3 of our friends stayed at stanhope cottages for 4 days the cottages were very well equipped, there was everything we could need. susie and mervin were so nice and helpful with all our questions. the location was great it was in the middle of the island, and was easy to get at any location around. i have stayed at cottages most time when we are on vacation and this has to be byfar the cleanest cottage i have ever stayed in i would come back here again. thanks for your help while we were there your place is great.

“Great Location & Price”

Reviewed 28 Jun 2011

My sister and I chose to stay at Stanhope Cottages based on its convenient location and low price. The accomodations were a nice blend of "camp" and "hotel." We really liked the playground in the center of the cottages since we were travelling with children, and that the beach was w/in walking distance. Overall we were very happy staying here. The only cons were that we had only a limited number of towels (which we used quickly given that there were 6 of us) and that the furniture smelled a little musty. Both things I was gladly willing to live with considering again, the location and price.

“We are coming back!”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2010

This was our first trip to PEI with our children (7 and 10). We were more than pleased with the experience at Stan Hope Cottage. Our cottage was clean, spacious and well equiped. We also had friends next door, and the cottage set up was ideal for visiting, yet also keeping our privacy. The open concept is ideal for families, as the play yard is in sight of the cottages. We also loved that the beach was so close. ( i think the best beach in PEI). It was also ideal to be in close distance to other attractions. Only a 20-30 min. drive to Cavendish or Charlotte Town. The owners of the property are very friendly and helpful. We all plan to return to this property in 2011.

“Stanhope Cottages - Sunshine and Lobster Pots”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2010

Stanhope Cottages is the place we have chosen to stay during our summer holidays while on PEI for 8 years...yes, you could say we like it there! Located on the North side of the Island, Stanhope Cottages is a quiet, family friendly place with very clean, comfortable and well equipped cottages. We love the fact that we are within a short walk to the beach/ ocean as well as deep sea fishing and fresh sea food to either take out or eat- in. In the evening you can relax on your deck while your dinner is barbequing and your kids are having fun on the playground in plain view. Mervin and Susie Jay (owners) are always helpful and happy to make suggestions of places to go see while visiting. Over the years we have invited family and friends join us at Stanhope and now many of them return here when visiting PEI. After writing this I'm a bit homesick for the place, can't wait for next summer!

“The experience is easy to describe: Everything was perfect!”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2010

We've had the good fortune to stay at Stanhope Cottages several times, and the experience has always been extremely positive. Susie and Mervin are wonderful; it feels like visiting with an extended family. We often have stayed in a cottage while friends or family stay in another. Stanhope Cottages are perfect for multi-family gatherings. Everyone has the opportunity to be nearby and visit while still enjoying the comfort of your own space. This family run operation is a labor of love and hard work. The cottages are immaculate and lovely. Everything is very well maintained and clean. It's just a short stroll to the beach where you can walk for miles. Activities galore are all around. It's a perfect location for families. Whether you want to spend your holiday relaxing or keeping busy and active, it's all right there for you. Thank you. :)

“Ideal Location, Wonderful atmosphere”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2010

Let's just say three things about Stanhope Cottages: Location, location, location. It is off the main road, so no traffic & bustle, it is less than 5 minutes walk to the beach - spanning several kilometers both ways, it is 10 minutes walk away from Covehead Harbour which hosts several deep-sea fishing group charters at ridiculously reasonnable rates (35$/person for 3 hours), bicycle rentals, seafood eatery. The bike paths are 2 minutes walk away and the quality of the pavement along the parkway is great for cycling or rollerblading - there are several kilometers of paths and lots of scenery and wildlife, so you won't get bored. It is also within a stone's throw of a golf club, a drive-in Movie theater (Brackley's) and a mere 18km to Charlottetown. Susie is wonderful and she'll do her darndest to make your stay there a pleasant one - if you need a large pot to cook the lobsters or the mussels you bought at Covehead Harbour, she'll lend one to you with pleasure. The cottage we stayed in was cosy - the bedrooms small but functional and the bathroom very large. We were 6 adults and 2 kids so it was a little tight - we used the convenient sofa bed, but for a large family, it is ideal. Everything is clean and works well, the BBQ and picnic table on the deck outside each cottage is great for family dinners. The playground is right outside the cottages (as seen in the photo) and it's just right for family fun. See you soon Susie! Marc and Tatiana

“A very relaxing and comfortable vacation!”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2010

We have vacationed at Stanhope cottages for the past two summers 2009 and 2010 and have recommended these cottages to our friends and family. We have two children age 8 and 11 and they have requested to return again next summer. The cottage is steps away from the most, beautiful and peaceful beach we have been to. We have traveled to Spain, Mexico and Cuba for vacations and we prefer PEI!! The beach stretches as far as your eye can see and is great for swimming, sandcastles or just reading a book on a blanket. The island has so much to offer for both adults and children and the food is excellent. Covehead Bay which is steps away from Stanhope has a great little seafood restaurant, they prepare it for you or you can take it back to the cottage to cook. The location of Stanhope cottages is perfect, virtually a 20 min drive to Charlottetown and Cavendish if you want to explore the shops and do some tourist activities such as the amusement park or anne of Green Gables. Deep sea fishing is just around the corner from the cottages, we chose to drive but you could easily walk there. The Stanhope Golfcourse is also within walking distance to the cottages. I did not get time to play but my husband did and reported the grounds were beautiful and stretched out along the ocean. The cottages are spacious and comfortable and extremely clean. There is a television with many channels and the kitchen is fully equipped. The yard has a swing-set, teeter-totters, basketball net and even a sandbox with red sand for the kids. There is also a variety of balls, rackets and toys the children have access to. The owner, Susie Jay, interacts with your children and is a true islander, she is very welcoming and makes your family feel at home. We will be heading back next year for our third summer in a row, we plan to book at Stanhope cottages again. The experience at Stanhope has made memories for our family that will last forever.
