“Wonderful, quiet ,comfortable cabins with a spectacular view.”
Hi : We rented our cabin for two months. Boathouse cabin during July and log cabin during August. Both cabins are comfortable and have a view of the water. No TV or internet but we did not miss either. A short 15 minute ride for shopping or connecting to the internet.. St Peters is a small town that offers ocean views and hiking. Information center offers plenty of info on what is happening in the area. People are very friendly and helpful.
Response from the owner You were wonderful guests, so relaxed, going with the flow, starting to be part of the community. And you were my longest staying guests, never a complaint but good advice and help on some items. Thanks again and hope you come back here one day .
“Perfect cabin on beautiful lake with outstanding host”
If you want to book a great cabin on a beautiful lake and have a friendly and accommodating host, then BOOK THIS PLACE!! I booked this cabin from Eberhard for my daughter's honeymoon. He was great to communicate with, met them upon arrival, and acted as their host / tourist center for their stay in Cape Breton. Eberhard is a thoughtful and gracious host, and his cabin was perfect. It was like staying with family.
“Beauty, birds, boats and beyond! A wonderful retreat!”
We stayed at the boathouse for a week and couldn't have been more pleased. Nestled on the shore of a quiet bay that links to the big lake, we were enchanted by the beautiful surroundings and absolute peace. The boathouse itself is simple and spacious, very well maintained and provided a perfect place to kick-back and enjoy. A short walk down the lovely woodland path brings you to an expansive beach where you can explore, swim, sun tan or hunt for shoreline treasures. Our only neighbours were an eagle, a beaver, a heron, a countless variety of woodland birds...and a rather nearsighted bat we nicknamed "squinty". The owner is Eberhard, a wonderful host as well as a skillful and patient kayak and canoe instructor - well suited to assist anyone from the paddling novice, to those just requiring a brush-up on their skills. The dock is overlooked by the boathouse and is the launch-point for the boats. When people rented kayaks or canoes they would briefly pass by in front of the boathouse on their way to the dock. It never felt intrusive; in fact, it was often a lighthearted social encounter with a wave hello or a "good morning" from us or them. This is a place where you can be as active or as quiet as you wish to be. We rarely left the property but when we did, we would return, step through the door and feel instantly welcomed home by the cottage. This place afforded us much needed rest and relaxation along with some amazing adventures! We would definitely stay again.
“A unique and memorable experience of tranquility and wholeness”
Our vacation at Kayak Cape Breton has been one of the best vacations ever. The cottage was perfect, and consistent with both our expectations and needs, inside and outside: equipped with everything one may want in a couple of weeks time off from a noisy urban environment, clean, spacious and functional, a properly equipped kitchen, and above all, with a splendid view of Bras d’Or Lake, which we used to contemplate during in-doors breakfast or enjoying a cup of tea or a glass of wine on the terrace. The direct access down to the beach was a precious asset of renting this cottage; a superb setting for memorable moments with your ‘significant other’. Besides, although the neighbouring cottage is close, the forest peacefully protects your privacy. Actually you’ll never guess there is another cottage in the vicinity unless you have been told or looked for it yourself. If you long for privacy, silence and tranquility in a natural setting, this is the perfect place for you. There are only 12km to the closest supermarket in St. Peter’s, a beautiful small town with good people, among whom one could never feel lost or lonely. As for how we spent the 10 days vacation there, it was a full time, active, and busy escape to Sidney, Louisbourg (the English Fortress), Inverness, and above all to Cape Breton Highlands National Park, one of the Canadian natural wonders. Hiking and driving in the Park were the ultimate touch of a perfect day by day experience, followed every night by a bath in the lake in front of the cottage and a deserved and peaceful over night sleep. We actually plan to return to Kayak Cape Breton, because there is a feeling that we have not grasped enough of the tranquility and wholeness of that place. Besides, the owner is one of the most attentive and courteous hosts that we have ever met on our journeys, calm, cautious, experienced, and sympathetic toward both the natural environment and his fellow humans.
“A place to get a deep breath!”
Dreaming of a place where you can take a deep breath, hide from the stress and leave your work behind? Kayak Cape Breton & Cottages is such a place. Directly located at the Bras d'Or Lake in a peaceful surrounding of smooth hills and woods you will find one of the two cottages that are well equipped with all you need to make ones living in the nature with all the comfort you need. Just a small pathway and you are at the great Bras d'Or Lake where you can swim, kayak or just stroll along for hours. Within a few kilometers you do have St. Peters where you can get your daily needs and if you play golf you can find a driving ranch and a golf course in the opposite direction. Even driving to several other locations like the Cape Breton Highland National Park or the national historic site of Louisbourg is within a day trip range. The host is very friendly and has a warm welcome for you and will help you with all your matters. He is an excellent kayak instructor and offers kayak lessons and rents the equipment you need to enjoy a paddle tour. I never had moments in peace, silence and nature before at such a beautiful spot. The property my recommendation for outdoor lovers and people who want to live once in a cottage in the woods. A place of tranquility and rest, a place to get a deep breath!
