“Gorgeous gem in rustic Mexico”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2015

This was our family's first surf vacation to Mexico, and it was muy bueno! Liz and Ron's property sits oceanfront on a remote beach with stunning views. The main villa is incredibly spacious, with a gorgeous pool overlooking the beach below. This is everything you would get at a 5-star hotel! What truly makes Loma so special are the staff: We loved everyone who helped make our stay so special. We found the perfect babysitters for our young son, our surf guide was incredibly knowledgable, the chefs cooked our food with love, the cleaning woman did a great job, and the foreman and driver were very patient and kind. Everything we could have asked for, we got. We were there for my 40th birthday, and Liz even made sure we got a special dinner and cake for me that day! We are so happy to have found this gem in Mexico. Muchos gracias, amigos!

“Unplugging in paradis”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2015

Staying at Playa Loma Bonita is an opportunity to unplug from craziness of life and reconnect with a the beauty of nature, friends, and family. I have stayed in all of the accommodations at Playa Loma several times with my husband, friends, and two young children. I have even hosted a yoga retreat here. Every time I go I want to stay and once I leave I can't wait to come back . Miles of stunning beach and only occasional sightings of other people. Fabulous pools overlooking the ocean. Gorgeous accommodations mixed with rugged grounds (dirt roads and rolling mountains) The ability to have massage, horses, food, fishing guides, surf lessons, and babysitting all brought right to you at such a fair price you feel (moderately) guilty. Playa Loma is a place where you can define exactly what kind of experience you want to have while surrounded by sun, ocean, solitude, and an amazing staff that will support you in your vision.... *Packing more than a bathing suit/cover and sun protections for kids always seems like overpacking...

“A Paradise for relaxation and renewal”

Reviewed 18 Mar 2015

I am not sure there are words to describe our week at Playa Loma Bonita but I will try. My husband and I, together with four other couples, all long- time friends and frequent travel companions, arrived at Loma Bonita for our last week of our travels in Mexico. We reached paradise. As we settled in the beauty and peace of the place worked its magic. It was the simple pleasures of life that filled our days. Long walks on the beach, meeting only the occasional fisherman. Having the joy of watching baby sea turtles hatch and make their way to the ocean. Watching the whales breaching in the ocean. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The sound of the ocean to put you to sleep at night and wake you in the morning. We rented the two villas and two bungalows so had plenty of places to spend individual time or time together as a big group. We arranged some of our meals with Karina and Thomasa from the restaurant down the beach and what meals they were! The tres leches birthday cakes were an outstanding end to two great birthday meals. We gathered around the large table in the small villa nightly. You can do as little or as much as you want. We all had the best massages ever next to the trickling fountain in the back patio of the large villa. Yoga under the beautiful palapa down by the ocean took a new meaning of mind, body, spirit. Think, Shavasana with the sound of the ocean waves and the feel of ocean breeze on your skin then rising up to watch another spectacular sunset. At all times we were in the very special care of Jesus, Rita and team. Whether we needed to book massages, or arrange a trip to Patatlan for groceries, or get the yoga instructor, Jesus was there for us. The place was kept beautifully and we were left to enjoy and relax. We can’t thank them enough. And of course, what can I say about Liz. She is special. During our planning stage she answered every question asked of her, and continued to help make sure our stay was the experience of a lifetime while we were on site – in other words she helped create magic. I can’t thank her enough for creating this beautiful place together with her husband. We had arrived with great plans to go to the archeological ruins, into Patatlan, and to spend a day in Zihua. In the end we spent a morning in Patatlan to get some supplies as well as visit the church,(which was well worth it), and gold market. We did a few hours in Zihua on our way to the airport as we were leaving and though enjoyable, we were glad we didn’t take time away from our "Shangri-la" during our stay. If you want a place to gather as family and friends and reconnect at a deeper level and if you want a place that is not commercial where you can go to totally recharge and connect this is the place. When I arrived I wasn’t sure what I would do for seven days. When I left, I left with tears in my eyes and wondered where the days had gone. Hasta Luego.

“A private paradise”

Wow! The villas at Playa Loma Bonita are almost beyond description. Amazing location. Our own private infinity pool overlooking our own stretch of beach along the warm Pacific ocean just a few steps away. The villa has all the amenities we could want and a staff that was always one step ahead of anything we needed. The owner Liz could not have been more helpful - answering whatever questions we had and providing all kinds of helpful tips to ensure a terrific vacation. We can not wait to return to our own private paradise!

The villa at Loma Bonita was beyond words, the location is hard to beat, almost private beach, incredible views from every part of the villa, the outdoor lounge space was great place to hang out and the pool was very hard to leave. Staying there made for one of the best vacations I've been on!

“Gorgeous Property - perfect for family vacations”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2014

We just returned from a ten day stay at Playa Loma Bonita. It was amazing. The property is immaculate, lush and very well laid out. The main villa has two large bedrooms and we used one of the bungalows as well for our family of 9 (3 young children). The pool is great for kids with a wide ledge for them to walk along that is shallow. The views are what I miss the most already, sunrises and sunsets over the ocean from the palapa. We saw whales almost daily. It is about 45 minutes from Zihuatanejo. For us this was ideal as we weren't interested in being in the middle of a touristy resort. We experienced authentic Mexico by visiting the small towns nearby and when we wanted to go into town to do some activities and shopping it was close enough. The staff are incredible. Tomasa and Karina area fantastic cooks and it was so nice to come back to lovely cooked meals every day. Jesus and Jose helped with anything we needed. There was some water leaking from one of the pipes in the bathroom. I emailed the owner and literally 10 minutes later someone came in and fixed it. Liz is a great to deal with, answered my millions of questions and gave great recommendations on things to do and see nearby. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation in a beautiful location this is the place.

“Amazing! Beautiful and relaxing”

Reviewed 9 May 2013

It was an amazing vacation. The main house and huts were clean and in perfect condition. It was the perfect size for our two families. We had our own beach to play in. We watched the waves for hours. The views from the main house were perfect. The staff was very helpful. We ended up renting a car, which I would recommend. It was reasonably close to the airport and town but very remote. My favorite part was hanging out with our friends, eating together, boogie boarding, playing games and staring at the waves.

We absolutely loved the rental. It was quiet, serene, and relaxing. In a world where we are bombarded with noise and technology pollution, it was nice to be unavailable to any distractions. We were able to stay focused on good food, beautiful nature, and wonderful interactions with each other

“Four Days absorbing Rustic, Natural, Soul Enriching Beauty”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2013

A friend invited me and my wife to spend 4 days with 4 other couples just south of Zihuatanejo. It was a perfect setting for a couple's retreat. Enough space and privacy (a large central house and three self contained bungalows), yet a wonderful central kitchen, living area, and pool to enjoy one another's company. Part of the charm is its isolation. Miles of natural, unpopulated beaches. Amazing sunsets. A small fishing village 3/4 mile down the beach where you can eat breakfast under a thatch roof, 10 feet from the surf. If you're looking for non-commercial this is the place. A perfect location for family reunions, small groups, and retreats.

“Heaven on Earth!”

We had such a lovely stay here in which we disconnected from the every day, relaxed, surfed, swam and soaked up the sun. The locals staff was accommodating and the locals were wonderful! We highly recommend this for families, couples and anyone else needing a fabulous holiday!
