“Amazing Place to Stay!”

Reviewed 29 Dec 2014

We spent our honeymoon in Nicaragua and our stay at Casa Cresta made our visit extra special. The house was AMAZING! It has beautiful views of the ocean, hammocks to nap in, a swimming pool to cool off and relax in and two beaches (Marsella and Mardeas) with great surf are within walking distance! The caretakers Anita and Eddy were very friendly and on multiple occasions made us some authentic Nicaragua dishes to try. Eddy came every morning to clean the pool and sweep the porch and we had Anita clean the house a few times during our stay. We would HIGHLY recommend Casa Cresta! We are already planning a trip back to Nicaragua with our friends and family and we cant wait to show them the Casa Cresta house!

“So many beaches, so little time!”

My wife and I had an amazing time in Nicaragua and at Casa Cresta - - - Thank you to the owners for sharing your home! Here's our trip report! Casa Cresta - The whole experience was great and could not have been easier. We arrived in Sjds around noontime (scheduled day of arrival) and parked right in front of aurora Management, which is conveniently located on the main drag. The property manager (Gabby) speaks perfect English and made the paperwork as painless as possible. She led us to Casa Cresta where she introduced us to Eddie and anna (the young caretakers) and showed us around Casa Cresta. She even helped us with airport shuttles and arranging a tour of Morgan's Rock. Eddie and anna - While we were there, the caretakers were fantastic. Eddie diligently cleaned the pool every morning at 0730 and every afternoon when we were gone. Anna was available for cleaning and laundry upon request (we had her clean once during our stay). Anna made us a typical Nicaraguan meal with fried chicken, gallo pinto, fried plantains and a lime cabbage salad. It was delicious and such a nice touch. They were great about staying 'invisible' and yet 'available'. Other randomness - We took surf lessons from Juan Carlos at the surf school shack up the road from Maderas beach. I highly recommend him. He was patient, encouraging and a great teacher! for $25/lesson, keep the board all day! - - amazing. Definitely use him if you take surf lessons. Maderas beach (15 minute walk from the house) was our favorite, but we did venture to Marsella, Coco, and Hermosa (they were filming Survivor during our visit to Hermosa- very cool). For dinner, grab fresh red snapper straight off the boat at a tiny shack just down beach row from all the restaurants. We whipped it up at the house with some salad fixings from the central market. The fish shack is a definite must. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us and making our trip to Nica so memorable!

“Excellent Location, Comfortable accommodations, great trip!”

My wife, brother, friends and I spent a week at Casa Cresta and the experience was fantastic! The house management company was very helpful before the trip. They provided us with info on where to stay in Managua, how to rent a car, how to drive to San Juan del Sur, and even where to get groceries on the way in! It made getting there a breeze. The house itself was clean and in good repair. The huge kitchen and general space gave us a great common area to cook meals and hang out (if we had to be indoors). For my wife and I, it was an extra bonus to have a master bedroom that was separate from the rest of the house. It provided a little privacy and it was nice to have our own bathroom. There was plenty of room for the others on the trip and they also had enough privacy. The patio and the captains perch are where we spend most of our time at the house. Beautiful views of the canopy and the ocean made great foreground for some of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen. The power did go out once, but it was part of a local rolling brownout and it only lasted a few hours. Hardly a nuisance. The close proximity to two beaches was convenient. Playa Maderas was great for hanging out and surfing. Cheap board rentals for rookies like us made it easy to try something new. Lessons were available, but we were too proud...probably should have taken a lesson. The short drive into San Juan del Sur and to Mango Rosa resort made it easy to find good food and cheap drinks. Although, we did cook at the house for most of the meals. Fresh fruit and cheap rum made for great blended drinks. The people were all very helpful. A special thanks to Juan, the caretaker. He made sure that everything was working, the pool was clean, and the house was safe (and their dog is a sweetie!) Also, a special shout out to Pepe, who rented us the motor bikes. He may be the nicest person in San Juan del Sur. Thank you for the great experience. We all had a blast!

We had a weeklong vacation and stayed at Casa Cresta. It is so nice private beautiful, and a recommendation to to anyone looking for a awesome place to call home while visiting Nicaragua! It is great hilltop hideaway very clean sleeping space for 8. The Quitador Juan & his family were so nice and helpful. He keeps the pool clean each day and provides security for your safety. The patio out back was a favorite of ours. So relaxing with hammocks and pool steps from your bedroom also you can catch a sunset of the to the Pacific or watch the night sky the rooftop captain's perch. Casa Cresta is perfectly seated half way between 2 beaches: Playa Marsella & Playa Maderas. Marsella was quiet calm beach with huge white sand and lots of where the kids spent hours of the day beach combing. Maderas is a pro quality surf destination with several breaks both lefts and rights. Each has small palapa style spot to buy refreshing cold Tona Lager. Also nearby to the beaches and minutes' drive from the house is several options for good restaurants. It only took a couple of hours upon arriving at Casa Cresta and I was completely relaxed and made for our families best vacation. I cannot wait to get back to Nica and stay again at Casa Cresta.

“superior accommodations!”

i highly recommend casa cresta to anyone looking for a beautiful place to call home during their nicaraguan adventure! the house was very comfortable and clean with enough room for 7-8 adults. the on-site housekeeper juan & his family were always willing to help when we had questions. the management company also stopped by most mornings to check in and clean. there was not a single need we had during our stay that did not receive immediate attention. the kitchen is spacious with plenty of room for group meals. the outdoor spaces are the perfect place for relaxing during your stay. you can listen to the ocean or star gaze from the rooftop deck. or you can just get cozy in a hammock and read a book. the pool was perfect for cooling off while watching monkeys play in the trees! the house is perfectly situated near playa maderas, a great surfing beach. it is a short drive into san juan del sur with several restaurants just a few minutes away. the owners were especially helpful in offering advice on travel arrangements once in nicaragua...i heeded all of the advice and our adventure couldn't have been better. this was truly the most relaxing and fun vacation i have had in a long while!

“Ross family vacation Dec 2010”

Reviewed 26 Dec 2010

I recently returned from a family vacation in Nicaragua with my wife and our four children, ages 19, 17, 14, 11. The house is absolutely gorgeous and easily exceeded our expectations based on the pictures we had seen. 3 very nice bedrooms, a great room and 2 bathrooms. The back patio is unbelievable and comes with its own pool. It is very large with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains to the South. On top of the house was my personal favorite place to hang out, the Captain's Perch. A large porch on top of the house with built in couch where you can sit back and look at the ocean and beach, surrounding jungle and habitat and at night, catch a world class sunset and then stargaze. Perhaps the nicest aspect of Casa Cresta was the close proximity (walking distance) to a couple of awesome beaches, Marsella to the South and Madera to the North. Marsella beach is a beautiful, tranquil crescent shaped beach that is excellent for swimming, sunbathing, shell hunting and just relaxing. You have the place to yourself. Madera is a much larger beach which boasts some of the best surfing in Central america. Also notable it the fact that there are a couple of restaurants and places to eat in the general area (and was told more to come) if you don't want to drive into town. San Juan del Sur is a wonderful little town. This is clearly becoming a tourist hot spot and you will come across as many English speaking people as not there. The beach is lined with restaurants and shopping and has a very laid back, casual feel to it. Sjds is a fairly short ride (mostly dirt road) from Casa Cresta, I am guessing about 8km. My family and I are already planning our next visit and foresee this as a place we will visit every year! Thanks Jared
