“Best Vacation in Caribbean”
We have vacationed extensively in the Caribbean so it came as surprise that we would be so taken by this experience. Having long ago given up on boring all inclusive resorts, we now look for places where we can experience the local culture. La Palomar provided just that opportunity. We stayed at this lovely villa in Samona this last November and can not say enough good things about the facilities and our host's Leslie and Bill! Everything was pretty perfect! Traveling by car around Samona was a real treat. Beautiful scenery..gorgeous beaches ..and the people were great ( we don't speak Spanish).. We frequented Luis restaurant/beach (5 minute drive from town) Very beautiful beach..free beach chairs..bar/restaurant..with arguably some of the best food in the area..Not touristy either. Went to the local fruit/vegetable stands and grocery store and cooked some incredible food using local ingredients.. The kitchen was very functional.. Definitely a vacation we will repeat soon.
“lovely house and location”
We enjoyed our two weeks. The house and location were great. The owners were available and friendly and helped with small problems. Made us feel at home. The beach nearby was nice. One could walk to town and buy food and goods.
“back for our 2nd visit! Fun! & restful!”
there are so many things to do in Las Terrenas area...we didn't have enough time ( were there over a week). Leslie and Bill were so gracious and fun...and made sure we had all the area updates since our last trip there. We also spent some very relaxing hang-out time in the various sitting nooks around the property. It seems like they have thought of everything a visitor would need. There are many fun and good restaurants ...our favorites were 2 different pizza on the beach places, and of course, Louis on the beach...fresh fish, and beautiful swimming. We found a very upscale french restaurant too. The pics are beautiful, and I think there is even so much more to it. 2 min. walk to the local beach...would highly recommend.
“A place you will never forget!”
We stayed in this house with 3 couples in December and had an amazing time. The house is beautiful and the land and beach surrounding it are superb. The outdoor shower after the beach or for sunrise showers really make you feel like you are on a true caribbean vacation. The owners of the house are willing to help guide you to interesting places for food, hikes, shopping etc. I would definitely recommend this place. You can find an interesting array of food just outside your door from fresh fish that you can grill at the house, italian or french cuisine from the ex pats there or local dominican fare. Its a true adventure!
Response from the owner We are so pleased that you all had such a great time. WE have just completed some great renovations to La Paloma which makes it even more romantic and inviting. Hope you'll come back to enjoy Las Terrenas and tryout the ZipLine in Samana. We did last year and it was a thrill. What a nice surprise to get your unsolicited review. Thank you. I guess you didn't forget your vacation of 2010.
My first tropical trip staying at a home instead of an all inclusive. I absolutely loved it! It felt like my home away from home. Within minutes we were at the beach and just a short walk away from this incredible village -- fabulous restaurants nestled along the water. Everything is at your fingertips, including buying fish from the locals right off the boat, preparing dinner at the house and dining in the yard under a canopy of twinkling lights. If you are ready to break away from an all inclusive, this is the place to do it. Such a warm, inviting, tropical home! I can't explain the feeling -- to come home to this paradise at the end of the day was an experience I'll never forget!
Response from the owner It was such a pleasure to have you and your friends at the house and to see how much you enjoyed Las Terrenas and La Paloma. I hope that you will all come back again soon.
