“A Great Vacation”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2015

We once again had a great stay at Casa Estrellita, The tranquil setting is just what we needed, and if you do not enjoy the congestion of the hotel zone, this is the place for you. We were met by Dan, who welcomed us "home" with a big smile on his face. There is plenty of room to lay out and enjoy the sun on the beach, beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We had wonderful meals at La Zebra, Zama's, Mexican Grill, and great pizza at Ohm. We enjoyed a ride down to Punta Allen for breakfast, and explored some cenotes we had not visited before. The highlight of our trip was hiring a private Mayan guide at Coba, who provided us with historically correct history of the Mayans. We enjoyed the stars every night by the sea, and were always in awe at how many we saw. Casa Estrellita was clean and comfortable, and was more than adequate for our needs. If you stay here and our visited by a few of the neighborhood dogs, please be kind to them. They ended up being great companions, and we hated leaving them. Thanks Dan & Vera for another stay in paradise. See you next year!

“Perfect Private Getaway”

Reviewed 1 Mar 2015

We just spend nine glorious days and eight nights at Casa Estrallita. Dan, the owner met us, showed us around and gave us a wealth of information about the area and places to go. Since my husband and I had never been to Tulum, this was very helpful and informative. We were looking for a wonderful peaceful getaway and we found it here. The house was perfectly furnished for two but four could be comfortable if need be. The house has solar power which provided needed electricity but not for hairdryers which one really does not need for a week at this amazing place. The house is situated in the Sian Kaan Nature Preserve and the beach and property are as breathtaking as pictured. It is gated and very private and we felt safe at all times. The bars and restaurants are within walking distance which we took advantage of several nights for some great dinners and musical entertainment. There are two dogs, Taco and Sundance, that visited us every day and we fed them and enjoyed their company. We left extra food so if you do stay, please feel free to feed them also. We hope to come back soon to our little piece of paradise we found.

“Another Wonderful Holiday!”

Reviewed 28 Apr 2014

We returned to Casa Estrellita for the second year in a row, and was not disappointed. We again enjoyed the serenity of the location, the mostly deserted beach, the adequately appointed and charming casa. Our only complaint? We wish we could have stayed longer! Dan was there to greet us, making sure we had everything we would need, and to give us tips on things to do, places to go, and great restaurants to try. One of his suggestions was to drive down to Punta allen, hire a boat to go out to see the wild dolphins and snorkle. It was fantastic! There are Jeep tours that you can book, but we had rented a Jeep, and did it on our own. Fabulous! We also enjoyed great pizza at OM, and delicious dinners at La Zebra, and Zamas, all within an easy drive or walk. Please understand that this is an eco-tourism location, and conserving water & electric is a small price to pay to enjoy the privilege of staying here. Muchas Gracias Dan and Vera for being great hosts, and providing the ideal place for us to unwind, relax, and enjoy the sun & sea. It doesn't get any better than this! Perfecto! We will definitely return in 2015!

Response from the owner Evelyn and Darrell, You will always be welcome back home here ! See you next year. Dan

What a delight to arrive at Casa Estrellita! It was the perfect location for two people in need of a private, quiet, tranquil setting. The moment we arrived, the zen-like atmosphere began to melt the stress away. The house itself was more roomy than the pictures reflect, and falling asleep in the upstairs bedroom, to the sound of the waves and wind through the palm fronds, was a natural tranquilizer. The kitchen was more than adequate for our needs, and we loved the tile featured throughout the house. Gazing at the stars from the roof top became a nightly ritual. Wow, there are so many stars! The grounds are shaded by palms, and we loved having morning coffee at the large palapa, listening to all the morning bird songs. The most enjoyable part was walking down the sandy path that suddenly opened up to the beautiful sea. We spent many of our days just relaxing on lounge chairs, under the beach palapa. Yes, you can swim and sunbathe most of the time au natural, as the beach is mostly private. We found Dan waiting upon our arrival, and he gave us such a gracious, warm welcome, that we were immediately at ease. He gave us the tour, and also provided us with helpful suggestions. If you need anything, ask Dan, and he will try and make it possible. If your wish is for total privacy, he is very good at that as well. He will do his best to ensure that you are enjoying your holiday. If you have never experienced being off the grid, going green, then you might find it a bit rustic. We found it charming. Thank you Vera and Dan for providing us the opportunity to discover this enchanting Caribbean hideaway. It exceeded our expectations and we will definitely see you next year!

Response from the owner Darryl & Eve, thank you- it was a pleasure meeting you guys. yeah, see you next year ! Dan

“Un séjour de reve”

Reviewed 12 Apr 2013

A delightful week in Estrellita. Beautiful quiet beach, and the private land is even better.. palm trees, hammocks and beautiful weather. It's a little windy and the sea gets a bit choppy for young children at that time of year, but it's a brilliant place for a holiday. Especially if you don't mind fairly basic accommodation. I'd gladly recommend it to anyone. And I'd also suggest that you go soon.. in a few years, the quiet bit of coastline will be overwhelmed by tourists trying to find a holiday house like Estrellita!

“The best spot imaginable”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2012

We just returned from a week at Casa Estrellita, and wished we could have stayed longer. We've rented houses in Tankah and Soliman bays and in akumal, but this is the most astonishingly wonderful location we've ever experienced. From miles (or kilometers) of wide, gorgeous, secluded beach, to azure waters, and sunsets over the the lagoon, it's hard to choose the most remarkable image. The house is good. The enclosed spaces are fine - comfortable bed, usable kitchen, and plenty of space for two. If you're looking for luxurious accommodations, this is not the place for you (and we'd prefer you stay away, so it's available when we want to return). But if you want a romantic, beautiful setting to enjoy the ocean and your partner -- without the need for the trappings of a resort -- it doesn't get better than this. We didn't come to stay inside, and the outdoor spaces are unparalleled. We particularly enjoyed time in the shady area between the house and the beach -- reading, talking, playing games, and then venturing out for walks on the beach and a dive into the water. Dan was invariably helpful, friendly and helpful. We'd return tomorrow if we could.

“Beautiful Location and Views!”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2012

The privacy and views of the water were both relaxing and beautiful. The sun was out every day I was there and the views of the sunset and stars from the rooftop deck were breath taking. Dan, one of the owners is an extremely nice and helpful man and I received a very warm welcome from him! The beach is very private and the water beautiful. If you come in October/November do bring bug spray as the mosquitos are quite bad.

We fell in love all over again in this magical place. The privacy of the beach, the softness of the sand, the beautiful sounds of the birds...amazing. We loved that we felt we had found a slice of paradise, and apart from the occasional person walking by, it belonged only to us. The house was perfect for the two of us, bright and colorful, very comfortable. We did not get to see much of Vera and Dan, but when we did, they had such warm smiles, and made us feel most welcome! Would love to come back to 'perfection' again someday soon! :-)

“location, location, location!”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2012

We have traveled through out the Caribbean. With the exception of Cat Island, we have never found a more beautiful and secluded spot. Casa Estrellita has the perfect location. In is inside the Sian Ka' there is no development around it, yet it is located close enough to the "action" on the beach road and the pueblo so that going out for meals is extremely easy. We walked several times. The beach and water were stunning. The swimming is world class. You will see only a handful of people on the beach during the weak. The house is a diamond in the rough. There is beautiful Talavera tile through out the house. The kitchen is simple but very functional. The bedroom upstairs was large and airy. Bathrooms were small but beautifully tiled. Living room could have used a few comfy chairs but we didn't spend any time there anyway. We had heard of break ins but never felt uncomfortable, we locked up and closed up even while on the beach. With all this being said, the house did have some problems. Their weather was a screwy as the rest of North america's and there were multiple monsoon rains (as in six inches in an hour or two). We are from the back woods of Maine and lived off the grid for many years so we "get" closing things up and turning off unneeded lights. Despite our efforts to close things up, the upstairs flooded three times (came in from the sliding glass doors and ran down the stairs from the third floor terrace). Because it was so rainy, I don't think the solar panels could generate enough juice... We lost power twice, which made sleeping very uncomfortable with no fan. Dan was gracious and came to our rescue as quickly as humanly possible and brought in housekeeping after the first flood to clean up ( which was not part of the deal). With all these issues, would we go back? You betcha! In a heartbeat!

Response from the owner Thank you Leslie & Steve, it really was a big compliment to us seeing you both so relaxed & tanned, in spite of weather we're upgrading our solar system ( ten thousand dollars) & double-sealing sliding doors. would we have you guys back ? you betcha !! in a Mexican heart beat !!!
