“Just perfect! Astonishing views in an idyllic setting”
We stayed at Le Mas du Bois Doré now for the second time, as we fell in love with the place on our first visit in 2013 and just had to visit again! The place is great for relaxing and enjoying the astonishing views and the beauty of the nature surrounding the estate. The rooms are in an idyllic old farmhouse, refurbished in style combining impressive antiques with modern amenities, creating a historical athmosphere perfect for relaxing. We spent most of our time at the estate outside enjoying the beautiful scenery (you can see the Cannes bay from the pool!) and the garden and took day trips to the nearby villages, Gorges du Verdon and the St. Cezaire cave, all of which I can warmly recommend. The Mons village nearby is an idyllic old village on a hilltop, with magnificent views and warm Provencal small-village athmosphere. In Mons, do not miss the local artisanal treats like lavender-honey, olive oils and jams in all possible varieties. Also the restaurant Chez Barbaroux is a great place for dinner or lunch, serving simple gourmand food. Gorges du Verdon is a full-day trip from le Mas, but definitely worth the drive, providing astonishing views on the Europe's Grand Canyon. Hint: Take a flashlight and a pair of good hiking shoes with you and go down to the hiking trail next to Point Sublime, where the trail goes through tunnels and takes you down to the bottom of the canyon. All in all, Mas du Bois Doré is just simply perfect: A relaxing haven with still plenty of activities nearby, amazing views and an idyllic garden, where we enjoyed the breathtaking red gloom of the sun setting behind the mountains. We will definitely come back again soon!
We have got lot of information and seen many pictures beforehand, but still Mas du Bois Dore exceed expectations. Old farm renovated with taste, beautiful green garden surrounded by olive trees. The view to the walley was breathtaking. The rooms were excellent and cool and refreshing after hot juny days outside. Best thing was quet evenigs sitting in the garden or by the pool, watching beautiful sunsets. Surrounding provence was worth visiting, pictoresgue old towns and amazing Canyon du Verdon, the views we never forget. We'll come back!!!
“The perfect stay”
We have just returned from Mas du Bois Dore, and enjoyed the flexibility of staying in both the Deux Cheveux and Chauffeurs accommodation (both 2x bedrooms). They are both superbly equipped with mod cons, the former perhaps best fro families with 2x bunks in one room. But the real beauty of the place is all around you. Access via the circuitous roads may be seen as a draw back to some, but to us it gave the place its very character and tranquil identity, helped by the Natura 2000 designation of the Siagne valley over which you look. Frankly we are loathed to say more as this is a gem we would not really want to share, but we can deservedly acclaim the staff here, Jane in particular, who made our stay perfect - the right degree of help and isolation given. Despite restricted roads to the site, there is plenty to see nearby, and an excellent supermarche near Montaroux. We loved it.
“Idyllic place and a wonderful, memorable stay for our family”
We had the pleasure of staying at Mas Du Bois Dore for one week at the end of april/early May 2012. We were traveling with our 2 year old daughter and had such an amazing time. It was a terrific launching spot for exploring the hilltowns of the Haut Var as well as the Cote d'Azur. The property is wonderfully and lovingly kept by Bob and Lunette. The irises were blooming and I was a huge fan of the cook's garden with every herb you might imagine. I visited the garden nearly every evening to get some necessary ingredients for dinner. We stayed in the Loge du Chaffeur and were very comfortable. They were kind enough to provide us with a special chair for our daughter as well and a crib. There was everything we needed in the kitchen for pots and pans, knives, and having laundry was ideal. The house was in excellent condition and beautifully furnished. The only minor negative was that the property is a little remote and so going to the supermarket was something we always did on our way home from a day's adventure, and it also took us longer than expected to get to places because we weren't willing to zip up and down the hill as a local might. There is a little market in the nearby town of Mons, and we also went there for a quick bread or something. The winding roads along the gorge up to the property afford you spectacular views and our daughter especially loved the cows along the side of the road and the noise that their cow bells made as they wandered about. We can't say enough great things about the Mas du Bois Dore. It was a perfect place for our family to stay. It wasn't warm enough to use the pool, but I imagine on a future stay (in a warmer month) we might use the pool, the bbq and never leave.
“Perfect holiday location”
This was the perfect location for a relaxing family holiday. My husband and I, and our 2 sons (age 9 and 12)spent a wonderful week here. We discovered some lovely villages, spent time on the beach, discovered the lovely nearby gorge de saignole and really enjoyed relaxing beside the pool and "eating in." Everything you need is provided, from gas grill to towels for the pool. Bob and Lunette are wonderful hosts and have really created a wonderful place, beautifully kept and decorated. We would love to return and highly recommend Mas du bois doré.
“Idyllic setting in southern France”
My wife and I stayed here while we were in the area for the Monaco Grand Prix. It's hard to imagine a more storybook setting than this one.Beautiful grounds, thoughtful decor inside our gite. It's location was great for us, because we wanted to see the beach cities of Cannes, Nice and Monaco, but didn't want to miss out on the relaxation that a more pastoral property like this provides. We were able to do day trips between aix and Monaco, then return at the end of the day.Truly a fine representation of the Provence/Var region. We will be back!
“Paradise in Provence”
Mas du Bois Dore is the perfect spot for a vacation in Provence. Nestled among the perched villages with sensational views from the gites, pool and terrace off the grand salon, the Mas is well located for exploratory day trips and well situated for days devoted to relaxing in the Provencal sunshine. The Jones are the most gracious of hosts and provide exquisitely comfortable and beautifully decorated accomodations.
Staying at Mas Du Bois Dore was the highlight of our two week trip to England and France. We did not know exactly what to expect and were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The property is near the top of a mountain with a scenic beautiful drive through dense forest on a winding mountain road with views of the mountains and valleys. It was just another world we did not know existed, just beautiful. On arrival we were met by Bob Jones the owner and host. Bob is originally from Texas and he gave us a warm welcome and tour of the property. Bob and his wife Lunette were gracious and accommodating making us feel that our visit was really appreciated. The property is a beautiful French farm producing olives from the many olive trees on terraces surrounding the large stone farm house. Bob and Lunette the owners have worked hard to make each of the guest units unique and wonderful. They have done a great job remodeling the property. The location was perfect for us. We went to the nearby lake and spent the afternoon on a paddle boat paddling and swimming in a beautiful mountain lake. We also took several day trips to the French Riviera by Cannes and even a day trip to Italy. The area is amazing. The weather was great, and even though it was hot down a sea level in July, it was cool and much less humid up on the mountain at the B & B. We recommend staying here for anyone that wants to see the wonderful mountaintop villages of rural France and the French Riviera. You can literally spend hours looking around the quaint villages in the surrounding mountains and shopping in the wonderful little shops there. Also the food and restaurants in the nearby villages were wonderful. Every thing is prepared fresh and the cooking is superb. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime adventure in the beautiful south of France stay here.
