“In 13 years of renting houses for my family of 14 throughout the states, this is the best rental ever.”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2015

The house is exactly as pictured in the website. It was extremely clean with the latest models of appliances. The yard was perfect for badminton and volleyball. All in all, everything one could ask for. My family had a great time biking or walking to everything except the supermarket.

“Fantastic Accomdations”

Reviewed 5 May 2015

We rented the Lighthouse Sanctuary Home for a boys weekend golf outing. Since we had six men who needed sleeping arrangements this home was perfect. When we arrived it was a pleasure to see a clean, well maintained, and attractive home. Nice furnishings and plenty of room. I personally stayed in the attached but separate quarters that had it's own kitchen, refrigerator, and bathroom. There was seating and a double bed. This room is located downstairs and has a separate entrance located just off the patio. You are not allowed to use the stove however as the vent is not real so be prepared to cook in the main house. There is a family room downstairs with a TV, a Master Bedroom and sitting area, plus a bathroom with two showers and 3 sinks, perfect for a couple of guys or a group of children. The Living Room upstairs wit the fireplace and large windows was very nice but it would have been good to have a TV in that room as well. Kitchen was small but effective and the large dining room was great, we could all eat together. There is a small bedroom in the front of the house with a queen bed which shares a hallway bathroom with the upstairs Master. The house was perfect for our trip, the location was great, quiet, but close to downtown PG and Monterey. I can't stress how nice the home is maintained, the cleaning people are awesome. The staff handing the rental were great and helpful.

“Perfect location for multiple families or a group of friends”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2014

This home looks small from the outside but you will be shocked when you start exploring! There is an entire downstairs with a humongous bedroom and additional family room for watching movies etc. Plus there are 3 sinks and 2 showers making it extremely easy for a larger group to get ready. You can walk to the beach or extremely close drive to fabulous restaurants and shops. There are just so many lovely touches throughout the house from the coffee bar to wine waiting for your arrival. I highly recommend.

“A Perfect Home for Family Reunions”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2014

What a great surprise! This home was perfect for our 3 families. We all had beds, good bath facilities, all 13 in beds and lots of space to share time, be private and let the kids have their space for games, chat and backyard play. This home is deceivingly spacious with the up and downstairs living areas. The home is exceptionally well equipped with kitchen and eating dishes and utensils. The home is very well maintained, clean and up-to-date. The location is perfect. It is walking-distance to downtown, restaurants, shopping, coffee-houses and market. 17-mile drive is at the corner and Carmel is minutes away. Kayaking on Monterey Bay and a visit to the Aquarium are perfect activities for family fun....all ages will fit this home. Sanctuary Vacation Homes is great to work with. Easy, friendly, accurate and helpful... cannot be better.

Response from the manager Jim and Family- We thank you heartily for your kind comments and we are just delighted to hear that Lighthouse Sanctuary worked so well for you all! Thank you, too, for including some great specifics about the home that may help future guests determine if this home is a good fit for their stay. We sincerely hope we may host you all again and we wish you all good things until we see you again. The SVR Team

“Loved the gas fireplace and spectacular dining room.”

Reviewed 8 Jul 2014

Our son is in the Air Force and the family gathered in Monterey to attend his graduation from Language School. We have never rented a house before and I am pleased to say that we were very happy with our experience and would definately do it again! This "lighthouse" home was very clean and it was equiped with everything we needed. The description of the property was accurate and there were no surprises other than the PLEASANT surprise of what a truly comfortable and homey property this is. We especially enjoyed the gas fireplace on the cool mornings and evenings. The dining room is spectacular and accomodated our whole family for dinners. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of dishes, glasses, bowls etc. It was nice to have the two living spaces (the living room upstairs and the family room downstairs) so there were different places to congregate. We were glad to have the washer and dryer available and there was even laundry soap provided. My parents enjoyed the guest apartment and it was nice for them to be able to have their own space. The backyard was essential for us for Ladder Ball playing. The property manager was really easy to work with and I appreciated her prompt responses when I contacted her. We had a problem with connecting to the internet at the home and she was almost immediately over to fix the problem. Our entire experience was very smooth from start to finish.

“Perfect location, beautiful home”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2014

We stayed here the final week of March 2014. I'm the coach of a women's college golf team, so we had seven young women and myself at the house. We had more than enough room - what a wonderful dining room for large-group dinners. The girls enjoyed the upstairs fireplace to hang out, listen to music and read, as well as the downstairs TV+DVD for movie-watching. We also made good use of the grill and patio area, and loved being able to walk to downtown Pacific Grove for window shopping, a cup of coffee or merely to explore. The coach enjoyed having his own small apartment downstairs!

“A Magical Weekend”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2014

I rented this home for my family's stay during my wedding weekend. Every expectation was surpassed! This home was the perfect setting for the entire family to catch up and make memories. I also used this home to doll myself up for the wedding and the pictures were amazing. The windows in the dining room allowed for the sun to shine in and it was beautiful. I can't say enough about how truest amazing this home is. I will definitely rent it out again.

“Great location, clean and comfortable home and professional mana”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2013

We enjoyed our stay very much! The home is clean, comfortable and well located in a quiet neighborhood . The property management team is professional, helpful and responsive. The added bonus was daily visit from a family of deer!

“Perfect house for large group! Lovely too.”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2013

My partner and I, with five friends, recently enjoyed a nearly perfect weekend at the Sanctuary in Pacific Grove. The house & attached studio apt are spacious enough for a large group that wants to enjoy meals & conversation together in a comfortable common space while also having private space for naps, reading and quiet reflection. I can't say enough good things about the house... from the Spanish revival architecture, lovely & comfortable furnishings, well equipped kitchen, large dining room, the floor to ceiling living room windows that frame redwood trees in the yard, and spotlessly clean too. The owners have thought of almost everything. We've rented many vacation homes in Northern California and the Sanctuary by far is our favorite. Julia was very helpful and accommodating. Our only disappointment was the queen bed in the studio... my friends who slept there found it too soft and saggy. Perhaps a new mattress is in order. Although the house does not have a hot tub, it is near other spas. We enjoyed a morning at Refuge in Carmel Valley which I also highly recommend. Thank you!

“A wonderful, comfortable home environment”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2013

We rented this home for our yearly family vacation. There were 6 adults and 7 children. The home suited our needs perfectly, with ample sleeping space, eating space, and place for entertainment and TV. The backyard was an added bonus, for the kids to get out and play and burn off some energy. The home was clean and nicely decorated, and stocked well to suit our needs. Close proximity to shopping and eating. We had a deer in our front yard one afternoon. We loved the home. Would definitely use it again.
