We were pleased with the reservation process and were promptly met at the apartment by Marie for check-in. She was friendly and thorough. The apartment is nicely appointed, but with some issues. Because of our group of 5, we needed to utilize the sofabed in the living room. There are 2 large windows in the living room, but only 1 window had blinds. The 2nd window had no covering, allowing direct view into the apartment from the building across the street. The noise at night from the bars can be quite loud in the living room, making for a restless sleep. The 2 bedrooms are quieter. However, from the master bedroom, we could hear someone's alarm that had been left on all day/night and there was a "thunking" sound from the radiator. Marie advised us to turn off the radiator, but that resulted in a freezing cold room. (We were informed by our tour guide that March 2013 was the coldest March on record since 1892!) In addition, there is no bathroom door in the master bedroom. This is probably ok for a couple, but may be a consideration for adults sharing a room. The blinds in the 2nd bedroom did not close, and had to be semi-closed by moving each slat manually. There was also little water pressure in the shower when the washer was running, so needed to coordinate our washing/showering. In general, the apartment was dusty - large dust bunnies under the beds, the blinds were dusty, lamp bases covered with a film of dust, decorative molding on the bedroom door was brown from the dust, etc. A couple of mornings the smell of urine at the building entry was very strong, probably due to guests of the nearby bars. Otherwise the location is great, walking distance to many restaurants, grocery stores, metro stations, Picadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Chinatown, etc. Apartment is on the 3rd floor, with a large elevator, but there are about 4-5 steps before the elevator.
Location, Location, Location! You couldn't get much better than this. So close to everything we wanted to see we pretty much walked everywhere. The apartment was great for our family of 5. The only negative was the terrible mattresses. Both of us had bad back and many sleepless night as the springs are pretty much poking through the mattress. The apartment was warm, but it was winter and was fixed by opening the windows. It was surprisingly quiet for such an area.
The apartment had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. It was easy to do the dishes, do a load of laundry, or store food from the local grocery. Its location was great for what we wanted to do which was tour London and see a few football matches during the day and then experience the nightlife at night. Check-in was easy and we were even able to get checked in early so we didn't miss the first football match we planned to see. The guy who attended to us was very friendly, helpful, and available when there was a question.
“Lovely flat near Chinatown”
We booked this apartment due mainly to its location. It is situated within a few minuted walk to oxford street and Leicester Square. When we arrived, the check in was immaculate as alex was there to greet us and explained to us on the features and functions in the apartment. There was a tesco near by which was convenient for us to pick some toiletries and food. Chinatown was also a short walk and it was aways crowded. The apartment has 2 rooms which acts as double rooms and the sitting room has a sofabed. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return to stay again
“Great Location, Great apartment”
As a family with two teenage daughters (15 and 19) we have just spent the last 7 weeks touring London and Europe. The D Street apartment was our first stop. Roberto was a great host, our flight arrived in London at 5am and Roberto organised for our bags to be collected from the bus stop and dropped of at apartment. He was only a phone call away if needed and promptly replied when he was needed. Apartment was clean and well stocked, cooking and clothes washing facilities were very helpful. Beds comfortable and bedrooms spacious, lounge area with TV Dvds and wifi good for a night in. Great location, walking distance to all sites, supermarket 2 minutes away, train stations very close, restaurants and entertainment right outside the door. Coffee shop under the apartment great for breakfast coffee and croissants. Oxford Street shopping only minutes away on foot. Overall a great place to stay in London, would recommend to families with teens.
“Superior flat w superior service & Location”
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here on our recent trip to the UK. The location of the flat was ideal. Walking distance to everything. The flat itself was safe, clean and offered us plenty of room. Roberto was most gracious as our host and was always on hand if we needed. We plan to reserve again on our next trip. Trust me, if you're reading this review, you won't go wrong by reserving. A+++ Again, thank you Roberto! Harry Gary & Constance New Orleans, la
