Casa Perla Winner Top Vacation rental 2011,12 & 13

TripAdvisor has awarded Casa Perla del Mar Top Vacation Rental in Tulum again in 2013, making it three years in a row; 2011, 2012 and 2013. A Mediterranean-style villa set in the Mayan Riviera and designed by acclaimed architect Ismael Diaz, Casa Perla is perfect for a romantic getaway or an intimate place to gather with family and friends. This unique and spacious home is nestled between the blue Caribbean and the luscious Mayan jungle. To insure your total relaxation, our staff is available 6 days a week to clean and prepare dinner upon request. Cost of food is not included.

With meticulous attention to detail, Casa Perla reflects the rich color, texture and artistry of the Yucatan. It features unique hand stenciling throughout the home as is traditional in the beautiful haciendas of the region. All of the doors, cabinets and furniture are locally handmade with the finest craftsmanship.

Three of the 4 bedrooms have king-size beds and the 4th has 1 double bed and 2 singles - perfect for children. Each has a picture postcard view of the sea or jungle, top-of-the-line Sealy Pillow Top mattresses, custom handmade draperies with blackout lining, and air conditioning for a restful sleep on imported 600 thread-count sheets.

Every bedroom has a private bathroom with sinks and countertops cut from local stones and exquisite fossilized shells. Each is appointed with the highest quality 100% Turkish cotton towels.

Casa Perla boasts two well-appointed kitchens with gorgeous Mexican granite countertops. You will arrive to find each fully stocked including a coffee maker, blender and microwave. The downstairs kitchen is poolside so you are just steps away from an ice-cold Mexican beer or chips and freshly made guacamole.

Each of Casa Perla’s kitchens have a view of the jungle and the stunning Mayan sunset. It’s not unusual to see an amazing array of colorful birds. Our binoculars and books will help you to identify them though it will be easy to spot our gorgeous pink flamingos!

The upstairs dining room seats 8 comfortably and 6 can be seated downstairs.

Each of the two large family rooms features a 42 inch flat screen TV and opens to one of our four outdoor verandas.

In addition to our verandas, Casa Perla has a rooftop deck with stunning 360-degree views. Wake up early and listen to the waves crashing on the shore as you watch the sun rise over the Caribbean. In the daytime the verandas are a perfect place to appreciate the flora and fauna of the Mayan jungle. There are literally thousands of rainbow-colored flowers and birds. And to see the sun set over the ancient Mayan jungle is breathtaking.

Casa Perla is only 50 meters (165 feet) from the waters edge. Guests enjoy great shelling along the secluded beach or spectacular snorkeling and scuba diving directly in front of the house. If you visit between mid-May and November you can experience one of natures most unforgettable sights. Over 150 Leatherback turtles come to nest and hatch at this beach. The Leatherback is an endangered species and these turtles have been nesting at this same spot for hundreds of years.

If you dont feel like visiting the beach, our dark-bottom pool is as refreshing as it is beautiful. Comfortable lounge chairs were custom-made to enjoy a great book or relax with a chilled margarita. A wall surrounding the perimeter of the house assures total privacy as you bathe in the sun or enjoy a poolside bbq fiesta. Dont worry about packing beach towels or pool toys for the kids; Casa Perla has them for you.

Free WiFi is available throughout the house.

“When do I have more vacation time to go again? -- Beautiful, Authentic, Relaxing, Comfortable Private Home”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2014

I stayed at Casa Perla del Mar for a week in May 2014 with my significant other and our two friends. The moment we arrived that Sunday evening we were like kids on Christmas - ecstatic to open each door to see what the home looked like in person. The images on the site are very representative of the home (and my personal ones here just don't quite do it justice), because seeing it in person is far superior. We instantly cracked open a cold one, took a dip in the pool, and vacation time was in full effect. The home was beautifully decorated and understand everything was designed to be authentic to the region and was resourced from local artisans. It was clean, very safe and had all the amenities one would need. (FYI little bugs are all over the place so you just need to make sure to rinse your margarita glass and not leave any crumbs around). Watching the sunrise and being walking distance to the ocean was one of my favorite aspects of the home. We went for a walk every morning. Down the street is Blue Sky Restaurant, which has delicious pizzas (we too thought it was odd to have pizza in Mexico but totally worth it). Also on the same street was a local dive shop where we took a fishing charter. And yes we did catch a fish -- a 70 lb. marlin! The home is a short drive to all the other activities we wanted to do and it was very easy to get around. Italy, the caretaker woman, was incredible and it was fantastic to have one meal a day prepped for us (we supplied the groceries, selected from the menu and tipped at the end of the week). While my Spanish was rusty it was pretty easy to communicate. We felt extremely safe at the home as well as everywhere we went in Tulum. Tips: print directions in advance like they mention on their website. The directions were just fine but I'm often challenged when it comes to directions. You definitely want to rent a car. I wish there was a way around the required car insurance policy (I’d research more because maybe I missed something) but you don’t want to rely on taxis if you stay here. Brush up on your Spanish and/or download Google Translate or other similar smart phone apps to assist with communication while at the house and throughout Tulum.

“Had a wonderful time and lovely accommodations!”

Casa La Perla is located on a quiet street where you can maintain your anonymity, yet, you are super close to Tulum and an easy drive to Coba, and akumal. There were four high school friends who scheduled the trip and two of us brought our husbands and the the other two brought a friend. We had a great time and all of his slept really well because the beds were comfortable and there was air conditioning on hotter evenings, although we slept best with the windows open to catch the ocean breeze. We ate dinner a couple of nights in the house and had a great time sitting around the table and catching up. The kitchen had everything we needed and we enjoyed three wonderful meals that were cooked by the people who take care of the house. The pool was refreshing and temperate and we loved sitting outside on the patio or on the lounge chairs around the pool. A few of us either walked the beach or ran every morning and it was great to wake up to the sunrise. We highly recommend this home for a vacation rental!

“The Best Home for a family vacation where there is something for”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

we highly recommend this rental for romance or family get away. We had our family all 7 of us stay for a week and the location was great for Cenote exploring, Coral Beach and sea shell searching. In 15 minutes you are in Tulum the Mayan ruins or go in any direction and there is activities for everyone.Swimming on beautiful beaches snorkling and diving. The delicious food we preferred to eat at our Casa del Perla cooked by there wonderful team of Italy and Elias. The house was decorated so tastefully and a beautiful breeze cam thru so we never turned the aC on. It is as my daughter said built and designed with fen Shey in mind . Everything flowed in the home and there was space to be alone or play games together. We are returning next year for sure but 2 weeks this time one week is not enough time when there is so much to see and do.

“I want to live there!!!”

Our family of 4 adults and tree kids had a great time at Casa Perla, form the beginning dealing with Victor it was a pleasure. The moment we arrived it was relaxing just to enjoy walking around the house, got there with no problems, we we're there around 8pm and didn't have any groceries we decided to have dinner at Casa Cenote down the road, it was very nice on the water, feeling the breeze. The house is tastefully decorated and has everything you need,my bed was so comfortable! Nice bedding too!. We had an issue with one of the bathrooms but it was fix promptly, and I personally didn't mind at all, I know that unespecting things can happen. Ita and Elias are so nice I spend time talking to them and I enjoyed their stories, maybe I talked too much... But they were very nice to us, she made dinner for us one day it was delicious! We had so much left over that we had it the next day! The children enjoy the pool so much, my ten year old didn't want to get out until it was no light! The two little ones had fun it was very safe to be in the shallow end. Casa perla is across from the beach, unfortunately is not for swimming, is very rocky and waves were height, but once we knew were the near beaches are is just a few minutes drive and you enjoy beautiful white sandy beach for the whole family! We enjoy Tulum town had a few dinners there. We did go to the places some guesss suggested and they were all very good! I can't say good enough things about our memories at Casa Perla! It was amazing and can't wait to go back next year!! Thank you, To Victor and his wife!!!

The house was amazingly beautiful with great attention to detail - right down to the faucets! The private location facing the beach made for a relaxing time. Watching the sea turtles lay eggs at night was extra special! We bought 5 kids so having the beautiful pool was much appreciated. The home was a short drive to town of Tulum and all the pristine beaches and snorkeling. Italy's food was delicious although we did explore several of the small local restaurants for many meals. The weather was perfect at 80+/- with a few welcome evening showers. We look forward to going back.

Beautiful home with ocean and jungle views within easy driving distance of all the things you go to the Tulum area to do. Very comfortable while very well appointed. Original, gorgeous artwork, great linens, well stocked kitchen and really comfortable beds - no complaints! There is so much in the area to do during the day - beaches, cenotes, bird watching, you name it. It's a lovely home to come back to at the end of a full day. Hope to go back.

“Best Hacienda at Talum!”

Had an incredible week vacation at the beautiful Casa Perla del Mar. The welcome was warm and inviting and the hostess, Patricia is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The home is brand new and decorated with the touch of warmth and class, I especially loved the colors, tiles and artwork. The home is laid out perfectly for big groups, families or a couple. Loved sleeping to the sound of the waves! Loved the proximity of the house to local restaurants and sonote as well as to Talum. You must have one of Italy's delicious dinners at home. The view of the ocean at the front of the house and of the jungle at the back is awesome - great balconies for all views!

“Home away from home :)”

Right from the start this vacation rental was so easy and relaxing. From booking to getting there. The house is exactly what you see and read on the web page. We had two young children who loved this house and all the adults also. Very safe, very comfortable and even more beautifull than the pictures. We took full advantage of the roof top views. The only thing I regret would be that my spanish could have been better for communicateing with Italy the house keeper and cook. She was wonderfull. Most of the time you wouldn't even know she was there. We plan on visiting Casa Perla again in the future, and are thankfull of the wonderfull memories we had there.

“Five Fun Filled Days”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2012

My friends and I had the pleasure of staying at Casa Perla del Mar at the end of January. In a word it was a spectacular. The home is comfortable, beautifully appointed with fabulous, local artwork, hand crafted furniture, colorfully painted walls and outstanding tile work. Also, there is a beautiful pool, two outdoor living areas and a roof top balcony for star gazing and evening breezes. In terms of location, it is ideal. Casa Perla is across the street from the beach and is a few doors down from local restaurants. Not to be missed is having "Italy" the housekeeper prepare a meal or two for you. Her food cannot be beat. This is a must. Still, there is plenty to do nearby. Tulum's ruins and beaches are 15 minutes away. There you will find great restaurants, gorgeous beaches and it is a great place to get a massage, take a yoga class or just hang out. The Biosphere is also near Tulum. Don't miss their kayak and boat tours of the lagoons and wild life.

“Could Not Be Better!”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2012

We just returned from a fantastic fun-filled week in the sun at the fabulous Casa Perla del Mar and cannot recommend it enough. The house is beautiful and perfect for multigenerational families. It is so comfortable and the housekeeper Italy took such good care of us, we are now spoiled. The location is very secure with grocery stores, Atms, gas and everything you can possibly need within easy driving distance. You can walk down the private road to two restaurants that have great food, delicious drinks and gorgeous views of the ocean, or you can cook yourself at home, or you can ask Italy to cook for you. We did all of the above! We had 8 in our party and rented two cars at the Cancun airport. The drive was easy and pleasant - a straight shot. We went to the beach by the house, as well as the gorgeous public beaches a few miles down the coast. We took field trips to the Mayan ruins in Tulum (10 minutes away) and Cobá (45 minutes away). All in all, we had the best time and will definitely return!
