“Romantic Villa in Ubud”

Reviewed 13 Apr 2014

We had the most wonderful stay for our 25th wedding anniversary. The villa was secluded but not too far from Monkey Forest Road / market / shopping area of Ubud. It was very spacious with a wonderful outlook over many trees. Staff were extremely friendly, good speaking English and very helpful in every way. They arranged a hire motorbike within 1 hour of arriving without notice. Ilu cooked us some lovely curries. Breakfast was so fresh and tasty. The pool was wonderful enjoying the view. Coming home at night was beautiful with all the candles lit up. Perfect for what we wanted. Will try and get back next year. John & Cherie Peacock (Western australia)

“Unforgettable stay in this secluded gem.”

We could not be happier with our choice of honeymoon accommodation in Villa Shamballa. This beautifully designed villa with stunning views exceeded our expectations as we spent five days living in an exhilarating balance between romantic luxury, peaceful seclusion and a striking closeness with nature. The lovely staff made sure that this stay was one that won't ever be forgotten, especially when it came to the in-house 3-course dinner, which was one of the best meals we have had in Ubud.

“So, so relaxing”

What a lovely place. Fantastic view of the jungle styled valley, with the endless pool that you can keep cool in as you gaze off into the distance. Food is fantastic & we found ourselves eating a few nights in the villa. Anything your heart desires is only a ring of a bell away. Thank you so much for such a relaxing stay, we will be sure to return soon. Chik & Si

“Everything we had hoped for and more!”

With mixed feelings I write this as I'd love it to be our secret, however, our eight night stay at the romantic and beautiful Villa Shamballa totally exceeded our expectations! From its breathtaking views to its warm, welcoming staff, from its elegant Balinese furnishings to the tantalising food (thank you Iluh and Gusti), the experience was everything we had hoped for and much, much more! As first time visitors to Bali we are totally under its spell and would strongly recommend Villa Shamballa as a place to totally spoil yourself, with its views, staff, overall enchanting aesthetic and brilliant location we will definitely be returning! We miss the glow of the sunrise, the magnificent daily vista to be admired from the bed, the butterflies, birds, geckos and Max, the cat! Thank you Villa Shamballa.

“rooms with views!”

Our stay at the very beautiful Vila Shamballa was precicely the sort of experience that we had hoped for! For our first visit to the beautiful island of Bali we wanted to head straight to the Ubud region and just be immersed for the next nine days. The vila did the job so well for us! It is beautifully appointed and in a stunning location in the village of Payogan less than ten minutes drive from the centre of Ubud. 'Relaxability' was the key feature with ample seating and lounging around spots, lovely coffee table Bali books and all with the beautiful view to the east across the Wos river valley...sunrise was always a feast! We were spoilt by the relaxed, helpful and very lovely staff who were there whenever we needed anything and provided excellent food!! - Ilu's Curry ayam is the best!! Thanks for a great experience that was more than just a place to stay!

“Absolute luxury and being spoilt”

Wow!! beautiful villa, very private and well maintained. Waited on hand and foot, just by ringing a little bell all your wishes are catered for. The bed was so comfortable and the view was fantastic looking out over the green lush valley. So quiet and peaceful. The rooms were wonderfully furnished with top quality amenities and furniture. The swimming pool right outside the lounge room was romantic as was the massages in the evening. The staff couldn't do enough to please. From the driver to the cook they all went out of their way to ensure we were happy. Highly recommend and hope I can return too.

“Peace and tranquility”

Thank you to all the icredible hosts at Shambala. We enjoyed an indulgent 2 night stay and honestly could have stayed for weeks ... if you are looking to escape and unwind then the villa shambala is a wonderful destination to do so, close to ubud town centre so you can enjoy the markets, monkey forest and restaurants but once you return home you feel isolated and surrounded by beauty and tranquility - the decor and surrounds create a very relaxed environment. The staff are amazing and attentive and the food incredible. I enjoyed relaxing by the pool and we also indulged in a yoga class and massage organised by the owners - highly recommended. Will definitely be back.

“Breathtaking beyond words”

This is the second time I've stayed at this magical villa and long to return as soon as I can. This in itself speaks volumes , you see I'm a person who likes to try different places but Villa Shamballa in Ubud is something special. As soon as you arrive the staff greet you with such warmth and consideration, their desire to make your stay a pleasant and uplifting experience is as genuine as the staff. Aside from this you have a great sense of total privacy, allowing you to unwind whilst appreciating the beautiful surroundings of not only the villa but the scenery around you. We wanted to enjoy the local food in Ubud and although there are many lovely places to dine in Ubud we would strongly advise to have at least one dinner at Villa Shamballa, the food is simply amazing, we would have to say that a few of our favourite dishes came from eating here. The staff were also very responsive on our request to organise masseurs, a yoga teacher and local musicians for us to enjoy and again we can't speak highly enough of all these added services. I would also like to personally thank Wendy and atsu who went over and above to make our stay a very special one, we adore your Villa, your staff and for making this a stay we will never forget. I look forward to returning and creating many more happy memories at Villa Shamballa... a piece of paradise in Ubud.

“Wonderful”

Reviewed 1 Oct 2013

First of all we were delighted that the Villa was exactly as the photos showed it. The Villa is spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The views across the valley were just breathtaking. The staff were excellent, in particular Iluh who managed the day to day running of the Villa and was also the cook/chef. The food was fresh, full of flavour, we kept with the indonesian menu and must say was just fantastic - in fact we ate nearly all of our meals at the Villa. As this was our first visit to Bali we were worried about getting sick but all our fears were put to rest. Oh how I miss my evening meals, tasty, fresh, sitting outside with the views of the valley, coconut trees, banana trees, frangipani and so many other exotic plants and trees. We were at first worried about mosquitoes, but we never saw one the whole time we were there, the staff took very special care to make sure we were protected. Sleeping in the open air bedroom took some getting use to though, despite the road being miles away the noise from the road travelled across the valley especially peak times morning and evening and was quite noisy - but if I take a step back from that I have to say the overall experience was fabulous and the memories will stay with me and my husband forever.
