“The perfect base for exploring a fascinating region of Italy.”
Villino Franca was the perfect base for our stay in Tuscany. It has two large airy bedrooms upstairs, a king-single day bed downstairs and a lovely bathroom, recently renovated. The compact kitchen has everything one needs to prepare meals, and is next to a sunny dining area with an antique Tuscan table. Outside there is a sunny, private courtyard perfect for relaxing and entertaining. V. Franca is a 400 metre walk to the wonderful Medieval town of Lucca, and on the way you pass a grocery store, pharmacy, several dine-in or takeaway restaurants and the BEST ice-cream shop! The bus station just inside the city walls offers a convenient way to take day trips (or longer) to Pisa, Florence, the Cinque Terre, Parma and many other fascinating places. V. Franca also has parking for your hire car, if you have one. The owners, (Patrizia and Renzo) could not have been more helpful, and Patrizia's excellent Engligh is really helpful when your English/Italian dictionary just isn't enough!
“A comfortable stay and a most friendly welcome from Patrizia”
Patrizia could not have been a kinder host. She collected us from the station and also returned us to it at the end of the holiday. Her apartment was very tidy, clean and comfortable.
“Great base for exploring Lucca”
Our fantastic hosts Patrizia and Renzo made us feel right at home in their beautiful villa, which was well appointed and had lots of space inside. It was very homely and had a lovely courtyard in the front. The off street parking was also a bonus. It was an easy 10 minute walk to one of the gates to enter Lucca, with restaurants and shops along the way. Our hosts lived adjacent to the property, spoke good English and were a wealth of information and helped us with any questions we had. This was a great property for our family of 5, with 3 children under 12.
“Perfect week in Lucca”
We had a wonderful week in Lucca, a family of five. Our three girls are 14, 19 and 23 with various preferences for a good vacation :) We found Patrizia and Lorenzos apartment the perfect match for us. Their hospitality and all their generous tips on where to go added a lot of value for us. They even helped out when our youngest daughter needed to see a doctor during the week. We rented their vintage bikes and that was an important key for a good stay. Walking distance to Lucca is a bit much when the temperature rises after nine. Bicycling is brilliant for exploring Lucca and beyond. I went for several longer rides in the early morning on the bike tracks along the river. The water is also quite refreshing :)
“Villino Franca was very comfortable, great location, and Patrizi”
Villino Franco is very comfortable with two bedrooms, a fully equiped kitchen, eating area and sitting room. A couple items you do not see in Europe were especially nice; a covered car port in front and a large bathroom (huge shower). Our two week stay gave us the opportunity to "live like Italians". Patrizia is a wonderful hostess and with her speaking English, she gave us many great recommendations for day trips and resturants. The location is perfect for day trips to Cararra, Cinque Terra, Pisa, and many beautiful small towns. It is a comfortable walk to Lucca's walled city. This is our second trip to Italy and was the best. Our third trip will include another great stay at Patrizia's Villino Franca there is still a lot more to see and do. We recommend to all who want to see and experience beautiful Italy.
“Beautiful House with a short walk to the walled city of Lucca”
It's always hard to pick a rental home/apartment when you don't know what you are getting or whether it is true to the profile or pictures put up especially when you don't live in the country or know the area. Lucca Villino France is a complete gem !! When doing research this particular home appealed from the beginning, a group of us liked the pictures, character of the house and also that there was a nice terrace front. We got in touch and were pleasantly surprised that the owner Patrizia got back to us almost immediately. She was very friendly, trusting, accomodating and helped us with pretty much everything we needed to know about our trip. The house itself is a typically old italian style house but with most mod cons (which do not stuck out like a sore thumb)which is nice. It is extremely clean and it is a furnished with everything that you might need for your stay. It even has enough kitchenware without you having to wash dishes before you use them again (some places only put out just the basics). We even asked Patrizia to borrow her blender which was a handover over the garden wall (!) She lives next door but gives you complete privacy. She herself is a Lucca born native so her history of the town and the surrounding area is just amazing. We also fell in love with her personality as she is always smiling and her laughter is contagious. Very nice lady. The location of the house is just perfect - it is outside of the wall of Lucca but only a 5-10 min walk in. As we had a car it was important we found somewhere with a driveway, we also found that the rentals were cheaper and also houses/apartments were larger outside of the wall. Lucca Villino Franco was a great find. I would absolutely recommend this place as it is not just a rental for a holiday but it felt like a home away from home and some of that was due to our host Patrizia. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did - we will definitely be back.
“A lovely time in Lucca”
We are a family of four (2 adults, 2 small children) who stayed at Villino Franca for three weeks in apil-may. The appartement was perfect for us: fully equipped, a nice garden, close to city-centre, quiet and easy parking. Patrizia and Renzo was perfect hosts and made us all feel very welcome. We would highly recomend a stay at Villino Franca!
“A wonderful experience.”
My husband and I were welcomed by Patrizia and her daughter Monica - they had prepared the house with flowers, fruit, wine ... and heating for the cold and wet January morning. The house had everything we required and was positioned a short walk from the walls of Lucca. After having travelled for a few weeks, it was lovely to be able to self-cater. The free wi-fi and new internet capable digital TV were great to have. Lucca was delightful and we managed to fill a week with only 2 day trips - one to the mountains and one to the sea - the remainder of our time we spent in Lucca with beautiful sunny weather. The nearby shops provided fresh pasta, coffee and bread; the house was cosy and comfortable and our delightful hosts were able to offer suggestions for a special restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. We're hoping to come back next year in Spring!
Response from the owner Thank you indeed Susanna for your good words! It has been a pleasure for us to have had you and Terry here at our house and we look forward to meet you soon again! Patrizia and Monica
“Perfect location for a city break and visit to Tuscany”
I stayed three weeks in this nice apartment and got on very well. My hostess Patrizia was just absolutely outstanding. She gave advice about this and that and had a unique local knowledge of Lucca and the surrounding area. It was of course a great advantage that she spoke both Norwegian and English fluently. Patrizia rented me a bike and I explored Lucca both by bicycle and on foot. A short bike ride from the apartment and you are in the countryside! A short busride and you are in Pisa or Florence or a number of villages surrounding Lucca. I was also lucky to visit Patrizias house in the countryside. An ideal vacation would be a week in town and a week in this house in the countryside!
