Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, on a small cobble stone lane in the heart of the city, you will find your home away from home. This beautifully restored Machiya retains its old world charm and provides insight into the old way of life in Japan.

It is centrally located for sightseeing, with many of Kyoto's famous temples and shrines, shopping, dining and entertainment districts close-by. There are lots of restaurants, supermarkets and shops within walking distance. You can walk to Gion in about 20 minutes. The Shijo station for the Karasuma subway line is a 10 minute walk away, while the Karasuma station for the Hankyu Kyoto subway line is also a 10 minute walk. The closest bus stop is a 5 minutes walk (Shijo Nishi-no-Toin Stop). To the main Kyoto train station it's only a $10 cab fare. We also have bicycles so you can really explore the city!

A total renovation was recently completed to provide all modern amenities, while at the same time retaining the charm and tradition of this beautiful old house. Guests will gain some insight as to the past way of life in Kyoto in this quiet historic neighbourhood. The house is fully furnished, and you have use of the entire two story house and don't have to share with other guests.

If Akemi/Trevor (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
