Very Good

“Beautiful and relaxing vacation spot.”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2014

Had a great relaxing vacation at this wonderful vacation home. Well maintained and landscaped. Featured wonderful views and easy transportation by golf cart to the beach and other interesting places on the island. Patti and Dave Hanaforde were wonderful hosts and very helpful in explaining to us different places to snorkel and fish. We thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness of the island with not hearing vehicles of any kind except golf carts. We will be coming back soon to Lubbers Quarters and Top Banana for another wonderful vacation.

Response from the owner Thank you very much for taking the time to give us this positive feedback. We take pride in providing a quality experience in beautiful surroundings for all our guests and are happy you enjoyed your vacation. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

“Real Relaxation”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2012

Most relaxing week ever here at Gone Bananas! Thank you Patti and David for your tremendous hospitality. Even though it was windy this week, we had a wonderful time. The only thing better than the islands are the people. Lubbers is the place to escape. The convenient boat slip and golf cart made it so easy to come and go. We enjoyed exploring the island and meeting others at Lubbers Landing and Cracker P's. Gone Bananas was perfect for our dinner party we threw for our local friends. Lots of space for entertaining. The wrap around porch was a great place to recover from the late nights. Looking forward to coming back soon.

“Great Vacation”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2012

Gone Bananas is arguably the newest and nicest property on Lubbers. Lubbers is a short boat boat ride from Elbow Cay and the Hopetown Settlement. Lubbers doesn't have many amentities besides Lubbers Landing, Cracker P's, Down Deep Fish Store and Dee's Bread, but if you are comfortable handling a center console, it's a great place to be away from the crowd without being too far away. Both Patrick and austin are excellent proprieters at the two restaurants. Definitely rent a 20-23 ft boat (Albury recommended) for your entire stay so you can easily hop over to Tilloo, Hopetown or Nippers on Great Guana Cay. A stretch golf cart is provided and is perfect for checking out the island and taking things to and from the boat. The house has an easy to operate generator for the routine power outages (power outages are part of the charm of the Bahamas). The Wifi was solid and all of the appliances were new and in good shape. We had very safe dockage for our boat. It was pretty much protected from all wind directions. We had a great trip and can't wait to get back. - Bill and Karen

“Relaxing times at Gone Bananas ...”

Reviewed 17 Mar 2012

We all truly enjoyed our visit at Gone Bananas. The house is beautifully decorated and the design is wonderful. I really appreciated that the decor/artwork was from local artisans ... that made it very special. Having the use of a golf cart was extremely helpful due to the location of the house compared to the dock, beach and resturant on the island. My favorite location was sitting on the wrap around porch - which is where I spent all my time when we were there ... least favorite was not being at the water ...

“Fantastic Vacation on Lubber's.”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2011

We had a great time on our abaco vacation, and liked our accommodations on Gone Bananas in particular. We stayed in the upstairs portion (Top Banana) , and it was spacious and luxurious. It had both high speed internet (so I could take care of work e-mails before starting our day) and satilite TV. It was much newer and more cleaner than other properties we have stayed at, and really earns the "luxury vacation” label. The boat dock was just down the road, so with a boat rental all the attractions of the area (fishing, snorkeling, etc.) are very close at hand. We had a great time and plan to return next year!

“Amazing Family Vacation”

Reviewed 26 Mar 2011

We had one of the most memorable family vacations that we ever had. We walked the island, rode the golf cart around the island, swam the beaches of the island, found seashells, snorkeled, kayaked and so much more! The natural beauty of the waters and land were so much fun for the kids (ages 4 and 10) to explore. Gone Bananas is outfitted with Direct TV and Direct Music, wireless internet, and a great kitchen with all the things you need to cook and entertain. While the house and grounds were comfortable, cozy, and relaxing to stay in, we did find a few spots to venture for outings. For the parents, we were able to get away for a little bit to have our coctails at Lubbers Landing and we had a fantastic dinner for the whole family at Cracker P's. We didn't have to go far to find adventures both big and small. We loved our stay at Gone Bananas and highly recommend for any one with or without little ones in the family.

“Go Bananas on Lubbers !!!”

Reviewed 21 Mar 2011

Our time at Gone Bananas on Lubbers was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable vacatons we have ever had. It was an opportunity for a unique visit with our children and grandchilren. Everyone had fun in their own way. The Hanafourdes were outstanding hosts and communicated all pertinent information that might be needed to make our stay more comfortable and pleasurable. The accomodations were exceptional and equipped with all necessary amenities, including satellite TV and wireless Wifi. The rooms were spacious, attractive and comfortably decorated. The kitchen and eating areas were fantastic and left nothing to be desired. The outside porch and decks gave way for experiencing the truly tropical paradise that one could hope to experience in abaco. We were provided with a golf cart to explore all aspects of Lubbers. Additionally,we were only a short boatride from pristine beaches, reefs for snorkeling, and the quaint village of Hopetown on Elbow Cay that offers many fine restaurants and shopping. The only comment from our family was that we did not have enough time to do everything we wanted to, so we must plan another trip.

“Fantastic Getaway on Lubbers”

Reviewed 26 Oct 2010

This was an absolutely great vacation experience! Gone Bananas was secluded, quiet, and private, yet accessible and easy to get anywhere in the abacos by boat. The house was new, with a variety of tasteful furnishings, a full kitchen, satellite TV and more. There was plenty of room for teenagers/kids. David and Patti were fantastic hosts. We are already planning to come back next summer.
