“Good location, not so comfortable apartment”
I'll start my review off with the positives.... the owner was nice enough to meet us at the train station and help us to the apartment. The apartment was well located, spacious and very clean. There are just some (and this is based on preference) issues with the furniture and set-up. There is a large foyer when you first walk in and a nice sized living room to the left. Neither of them had a proper sitting area. There is no where to sit in the foyer, but in the living room, there is a folded up single bed (which can accommodate one person) and two rod iron outdoor chairs. Many people (such as ourselves) come to cinque terre to hike in the mountains and when we return after a 7-8 hour strenuous hike, it is really important to have somewhere to relax. A rod iron chair is uncomfortable under the best of circumstances... under these circumstances, it was awful. We chose an apartment because we wanted the comforts of home, but were then confined to sitting on our beds (which were also quite uncomfortable) as though we were in a hotel. Again, with a few quick fixes, the apartment could be amazing... but the furniture, or lack thereof, really spoiled it for us.
“To stay with comfort in Riomaggiore”
We are a family with 13 years old son. We stayed in Appartamento Giardino from 16 to 20 of August 2014. The appartment is very nice and comfortable. It stays on the main street of the village what is very convenient. lt is equipped with almost everything you need. The owner provided us a very welcoming receipt and even gave his recommendations on what to visit in Cinque Terre. Car parking is a little bit far from the appartment in the upper part of the village, but in Riomaggiore it is a normal practice. The beach is only 5 minutes away from this location. Despite it is stony, the entrance to the water is easy and the water is perfectly clean and beautiful.
“Delightful Cottage in Riomaggiore”
Delightful cottage at the top of the town in Riomaggiore. The garden was beautiful with a huge tree and secluded table beneath. This was a fabulous place to relax after a day of hiking ,with a wine and some olives and discuss the gorgeous scenery we had viewed for the day. The unit was lovingly decorated and the host an absolute gem, who was keen to inform us as to the best way to spend our time in the Cinque Terre. The main draw back was that the bedrooms were very close to the road and every morning the stream of trunks bringing food into the village was very noisy and ensured that you were up early to face the day!
The apartment was clean and well furnished and the terrace was a delightful place to have dinner or breakfast. The co-op grocery stores are just a few minutes away, as is the Laundromat. The apartment is near the top end of the town, but walking to the train station while wheeling your luggage along took only 5 minutes. Anna at arbaspaa was very professional and responsive to our one issue during our stay, which was a problem with the refrigerator. I would have no hesitation booking through asbaspaa again.
“Lovely, spacious appartment in beautiful setting”
We loved staying in Il Giardino. Clean, spacious and, although we stayed there in the hottest weeks of the year: relatively cool. The garden and balcony are wonderful for evening meals and drinks. When it is hot and you leave the windows open at night, there is the occasional noise from people passing by late at night. This was quite rare and didn't bother us. The owner very kindly explained everything to us when we arrived. Be prepared for a steep climb from the station with your luggage, although the little streets are great to look at. We felt as if we'd walked straight into an Italian filmset. Beautiful. We'd love to stay here again.
“A clean, equipped, comfortable, convenient and welcoming stay.”
Our stay in appartamento Giardino was excellent. Our host welcomed us at the Riomaggiore train station, escorted us to the apartment, and acquainted us with the town and the apartment. The apartment is very clean and well equipped for cooking in. Shops for groceries and laundry are a five minute walk down the street. The apartment is cozy/comfortable for four people. The bed are very firm. The location is terrific, twelve minute walk from train and five to fifteen minute walk to everything in town. Would definitely stay here again.
“Lovely respite from exploring Florence & Rome”
Lovely apt.-owner's artful attention to details appreciated-garden seating and own terrace private-easy access to train to nearby towns and ristorantes-lots of uphill walking-unusually cool and damp for late May but beauty of coastline made up for it! Website pictures did not show how truly nice this apt. is.
“Couldn't have been happier - pictures don't do it justice!”
My husband, parents, and I stayed here for two nights during our stay in Cinque Terre. The apartment is cute as can be and very comfortable. We loved the outdoor space, the comfy bedrooms, the kitchen, and the nice bathroom. The apartment owner was very helpful and provided lots of great information for us on hiking and other places to see in the area. We cooked dinner here one night and found the kitchen to be very well stocked for all of our needs. Would definitely recommend this place.
“great stay in Riomaggiore”
This is a great two-bedroomed appartment up the hill along the main street in Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre. Spacious and beautifully decorated, it is a 10 minute walk from the train station (through the tunnel and up the steep hill). Generally fairly quiet as away from the main part of town and the shops. Cars are not allowed into the town at night, but there was some noise early in the morning as commerical vehicles came down the hill. The owner of the appartment was extremely helpful, providing information on the area, including maps and guides. The appartment has a garden with table and chairs and a balcony with table and chairs. Lovely to sit out for breakfast and dinner, but watch out for the mosquitoes. We made good use of the citronella candles provided. There is a small supermarket a few minutes down the hill from the appartment.
“some what mixed experience”
We had a 2 night stay at this apartment in Riomaggiore. The apartment itself is spacious, nicely decorated and well taken care off. The front balcony is a nice place to sit and relax. The apartment owners are a nice elderly couple. The lady has her hand crafted towels and napkins all around the apartment that shows care and personal touch. The gentleman was also helpful and provided us with all the local tourist information so that we can maximize the time of our stay. The two big problems we faced with the apartment was that the apartment has no provision for 'Fans'. There are no a/C, no cooling system and no fans (either ceiling or free stnading) in any room. This June was unusually hot in C.T.. After climbing the slope with heavy luaggage (or even when you return from a morning/afternoon/evening walk) you have to have cold water and a fan to just cool you down. I would strongly suggest arbaspaa to look into this and make provision for some free standing fans for future guests. Another one aspect I would like to bring to arbaspaa's notice is that when I reserved the apartment I was told it is only 200 or 300 meters from the station. the distance might be true but it is a straight uphill trudging. For 2 women and 2 children with heavy luggage that was a very very hard and unpleasant experience in a June mid-day heat. I heard from another family who also stayed in Riomaggiore that their landlady brought a taxi to station to help carry all the luaggage to the apartment. Some free service like that would have been really really helpful and will significantly enhance the overall experience of the stay.
