Update - September 2017

Happily, we have now concluded the registration process - anyone who has been watching this space can now feel confident about booking with us.

Los Molinos is a spacious, airy one bedroom apartment ideal for couples. It benefits from a lovely position on a peaceful, pretty pueblo (nearest translation = village) which is terraced into the mountainside high above the sweeping coastline of the Cost Del Sol: there are wonderful views everywhere.

Entering the pueblo from the main road is like discovering a different world. In keeping with the old Spanish style of narrow walkways and staircases, it is a select residential area, adorned with fountains and flowers complimenting the sandy coloured flagstones and terracotta tiled roofs.

A swimming pool, shared only by owners and renters, is to be found above the apartment and there is a sun-trap "patio" area just outside.

The living room is a large L-shaped room furnished in traditional Spanish style with some genuine antiques.

It is well furnished with two x two-seater sofas, low occasional, tables with lamps, flat screen, multi-channel TV, coffee table and several traditionally-designed Spanish dressers/cupboards. The dining table is antique and four attractively carved dining chairs complete the set.

For year round temperature control, we have an attractive fireplace (with a smart, easy-to-use electric stove), an electric radiator and an air conditioning/heating unit.

The whole room is light, bright and breezy, having three large sets of double glazed French windows leading out onto two "Juliette-style" balconies and one larger balcony, furnished with comfy chairs and a coffee table. One faces south where the view ultimately leads towards Fuengirola and the sea and the other two overlook the delightful plaza with a pretty little fountain.

The amply sized bedroom also benefits from a set of French windows overlooking the plaza and a further window. The room is furnished with a double four poster bed, with drapes, bedside tables and lamps, a full length mirror and a dressing table with a further lamp.

One whole wall is devoted to fitted wardrobes. There is an air conditioning/heating unit and a small safe inside the wardrobe.

The open plan kitchen is off the living room. It is well-equipped and includes full oven and four ringed hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a plentiful supply of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. There is also a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities.

Finally, the spacious bathroom is fitted with bath, over-bath shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet. A plentiful supply of towels is kept in a big cupboard.

Equipment:

There’s a wide range of books, games, beach towels and beach bag, picnic ware, a silver sun screen for your hire car and more.

All equipment not locked away is for your use and enjoyment and you will find two modern, lightweight deckchairs to take outside to relax in the plaza.

Mijas:

Nestling half way up a three thousand foot mountain, beautiful Mijas is surrounded by spectacular scenery: the centre offers a choice of stunning viewpoints where you can watch the world go by whilst enjoying a flavoursome Spanish coffee or a refreshing sangria. A wander round the narrow streets will lead you to the bullring, set on a lofty plateau, the site of an ancient Arab fortress, now exquisitely landscaped to entice visitors onto a trail of panoramic vistas. Make a pilgrimage to the historical healing shrine of the Lady de la Pena, where visitors have flocked for four hundred years, or climb the hill behind the two shrines, oases, high above the village.

Fuengirola is a short bus or car ride downhill: East from here is Benalmadena and Torremolinos and West, Marbella and Puerto Banus. This long stretch of coastline offers a huge variety of beaches and entertainment from aqua parks to theatres, from quaint Spanish ventas to five star restaurants.

Venturing further afield, it is possible to visit Ronda, Gibraltar and Granada as a day trip. Seville is a little further and even North Africa is accessible (one of the many small tourist offices will help you arrange this).After the excitement of a busy day sightseeing, shopping or soaking up the sun at the beach, returning to Mijas and feeling its dignity and tranquility will almost certainly be the part of your holiday that you will cherish.

Getting around

A car is not needed apart from for sight seeing purposes. Even then you have excellent public transport in this area. A good bus service runs throughout the day into Mijas with stops going both ways very close to the apartment. Buses go direct to Benalmadena, Torremolinos, Marbella, Malaga and, of course, Fuengirola (which takes about 6 minutes) In nearby Fuengriola, the train station is very near the bus station so you just get off one and straight on to the other. There is a ticket office inside the station. For full information about bus/train timetables, the Tourist Information Centre in Mijas centre will help you. Staff there speak good English and they keep copies of timetables in the office.

Very often, whatever is wrong can be overcome quite easily, usually the same day if it's a technology issue. That's why it's so important to speak to us asap if there is a problem - as you very sensibly did when the TV wasn't working. Glad you liked our apartment, we'll be going in January and I'm looking forward to it immensely - seems a long time since we were there and a visit to favourite nearby restaurants and bars is overdue! Response from the owner Hello, Thanks for taking the time to review Los Molinos. Glad to hear that you liked our apartment, found it clean, comfy and well equipped and would recommend it to others. There's a little story to our balcony .... at one time it was only a "juliette"; you could only stand on it; no seats only a flower pot or two. We applied a couple of times for permission to extend and were over the moon when we eventually got the "go ahead". Now it has two comfy chairs and a coffee table and we're very proud of it. It's great for breakfast, a relaxing coffee or a glass of wine in the evening; I love to sit there and watch the reflections from the pool dancing over the pueblo. Those who want to stretch out in the sun can use the lovely plaza below, relaxing by the fountain or up by the pool as you say. The sides of the pool are narrowed by new Spanish safety regs. – did you notice that there was a further area, with much more space, just through the wrought iron gates? If anyone finds that all the sunbeds are taken, we have two comfy lightweight deckchairs in our “beach cupboard” just behind the front door. Thanks again, cheerio, Cath.

I love to meander along those streets myself; we walk “into town” almost every day we are there, to have a coffee maybe some tapas or just to look at the view and breathe in the wonderful air, scented with rosemary and wild flowers. Thanks for the bus and train-fare costs which are useful to me too – I can pass those on for 2019 guests. And thanks for all the nice things you said about Los Molinos – of course I have to agree! “Fantastic apartment in a idyllic place”

We have just spent a fantastic week in los molinas in mijas pueblo. The minute we arrived we were so pleased it was perfect so lovely an clean and had everything we needed and more things that we didnt think we did need for our holiday. The apartment is situated in an ideal part of the village just a short walk from shops bars cafes. We also spent many an hour on the balcony relaxing watching the world go by. Cath the owner was extremely helful and could be easily contacted if we needed to ut we never did it was perfect!. I hope to go back again next year and would highly recommend this apartment
