- Very Good
“Quaint traditional house in very good location.”
Traditional house with tatami mats etc. so lots of removing/putting on shoes. Low doorways, very cramped kitchen, fold-up futon beds on floor (very comfortable). Plenty of room, really, for two. Heating worked fine. Good toilet and bathroom facilities, though a bit cramped. Everything worked well. Extremely pleasant, helpful and amenable host. Very clean. Good location close to buses and not far from subway, with plenty of facilities close by.
“I felt at home and very well located. A great choice to visit Kyoto”
“Excellent traditional flat - a genuine experience”
Very convenient flat, true japanese experience. We really enjoy our stay. The flat is conveniently located next to regular line buses. There's also just beside the flat the hand craft shop of Kyoto which provide good advices in english. The manager is very very kind welcoming us with all the information required to spend a good time.
“cozy place with nice location”
me and my friends stayed there for 3 nights. The location is pretty good with easy access to many nice temples, shrines and walking distance to Kyoto Imperial Palaca. Despite the easy access this house has very peaceful atmosphere thanks to the small local street. The house has all the facilities you need and even you dont need =) Decorated in traditional Japanese style with sliding walls, tatami ground and futon beds. It is also very clean and tidy. Owner Nobu San's hospitality also comes as a bonus. I would recommend the house to the groups of up to 5 people and small/medium size families.
Before leaving Tokyo for Kyoto in the first week of January 2014, we arrived at Tokyo Station to find that the Shinkansen System had shut down due to a fire at a nearby location. The owner of Neneko House, Nobu San, kept us updated on the status of the Shinkansen all morning until the trains recommenced. We appreciated his thoughtful support greatly as none of our party spoke Japanese. Upon arriving in Kyoto, we were met close to the bus stop nearby the house by Nobu San. Nobu San provided us with great information about the local area which helped us decide what to do, see and eat while we were there. The accommodation is very comfortable, travelling together were my husband, my sister and myself. We had plenty of room and while we only stayed one week, one could easily stay longer. The house is very clean and well equipped. Being a group of three, we appreciated having separate toilet, vanity and bath. The house is in a fantastic area of Kyoto, we love to walk and found that we spent most evenings in the Gion district which meant that we could take a different route home each time- thereby seeing so many interesting residential and business streets on our way home. The house is very close to the start of the Philosopher's Walk which makes for a fantastic afternoon- make sure you don't bypass Honenin Temple on your way to the Silver Temple. The bus system in Kyoto is great, with stops close to everything you could want to see. Depending on the weather and your length of stay, walking may be your preferred mode of transport! We stayed during the Japanese winter- the house is equipped with plenty of heating facilities so at no time were we cold inside the house. I can only imagine how lovely it would be in Summer or Spring. While you are in Kyoto, don't miss udon noodles at Yamamotomenzo, you may have to que, but it moves quickly and it is a fantastic experience. Thank you Nobu San for a wonderful experience, we will be sure to stay again next time!
“Clean, Comfortable, Cozy. Friendly host that will make you feel”
This machiya owned by Nobu was perfect for our stay. Conveniently located though not that close to Kyoto station (but honestly most of the tourist attractions arnt!). Nobu kindly met us at the house, and gave us a detailed explanation of the house and surrounding areas. If you've just arrived in kyoto, dont both using the underground trains, just hop on to a bus, it will take you much closer to the house. You will soon realise that everything else in Kyoto is much more accessible by bus anyway, and Nobu will teach you everything you need to know about commuting via city bus. We loved every aspect of the house, from the clean shower to the cozy kotatsu. Definitely would stay again if i had the chance.
Our stay at Neneko House was wonderful. Nobu went out of his way to make us feel welcome (even meeting us at the house at 0100, after our plane had been delayed). The house is in a great location, very near some of the better known sites, and has a supermarket and lots of great restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The house was clean and much more spacious than we had imagined. It was perfect for my husband and I and our little boy. Thanks Nobu, we hope to return one day soon!
“All was perfect”
We were perfectly received . Nobu san took time to make us discover the house, i gave us maps (bus, restaurants, bars, places to see) The house was like we've hoped it, nothing wrong, the beds were so greats. It's a house full of charm. The street was calm and full of curious places. Each of them was a wonderfull surprise.
“Great Japanese Experience”
We stayed (3 people) in Nobu's place for one week and it was a great experience! Nobu was very helpful giving us instructions to get to the apartment and very useful information on our arrival! The traditional Japanese house was lovely (you can experience the real japan way of life) and in a perfect location to move around Kyoto! With many shops and restaurants around!! We'll definitly recommend the place for a couple or 3-4 friend!!
