“Paradise in Bay of Islands”

Reviewed 1 May 2015

This was the perfect retreat. We were a group of 8 and we couldn't have asked for a more ideal place to stay. The house itself is extremely cosy, with a perfect TV room for everyone to get together and watch movies together. The house has a professional kitchen which we used often. Great views of the ocean accompanied by the soothing sound of waves allowed for us to truly unwind. We are a family that only stays in private accommodations when we travel, and we would certainly recommend staying here.

“Absolutely stunning”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2015

The experience completely matched and probably exceeded the expectation created by the information provided in advance. The location of the property, its outlook, its fittings and appointments, the whole package was exceptional. As a family (6 adults) we were so thankful that the owners were prepared to share such a wonderful property. We were greeted personally and given simple and clear guidance with no fuss. We found we had all we needed. We were able to be away together as a family of adults and enjoy rare time together in a very special place. Notwithstanding geographical issues and the busyness of life, family members have vowed to return. We would all do so at the drop of a hat. Full marks.

“The spectacular Blue Oasis!”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2014

It was great to spend time at the spectacular Blue Oasis! That said, I would be remiss if I didn't log a few concerns that I have about this place. The bed is too comfortable, the bathroom is too big, the kitchen is too specious, and one can see Cable Bay from every room. Oh btw...why do the crashing waives glow at night and is it really necessary for guests to see the starts and the Milky Way? Lastly, don't you think a Rainbow every day is a bit too much? I'll come back when the proper improvements have been made and this place is restored to some level of normalcy. :-) Really...this is a lovely place! Thank you!!!

Response from the owner Thank you Bete!! Come back anytime!! ;)

“Our stay was much to short but it was a magical experience that”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2014

Debra made sure we had transportation from the wharf to the house which is only a ten minute walk but uphill all the way. When we walked through the front door and got our first glimpse of the Bay we had to catch our breath. The view is stunningly beautiful and the house is impeccable. Everywhere you turned there was an indication of the love Charlie and Debra have for each other as well as for their piece of paradise. There was a bottle of wine waiting for us and later in the day a box of chocolates were delivered. Both were exquisite and a welcome treat after a long ride from auckland. Every room in the house has an infinity view of the ocean and beach, there is decking on all three levels, with loungers to soak up the sun and a different view of the bay. This is not a summer/vacation house. This is a home and we felt, even for a brief time, that we were home. We most enjoyed the relaxed, comfortable feeling we had, as if we had been in this magnificent place before. What we like least was that we couldn't stay longer! Thank you Debra and Charlie and hopefully the next time we visit New Zealand you'll be there to make and share more "heavenly" experiences!!!

“A Blissful Retreat”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2014

We loved this house. It's modern, well appointed and well maintained and has a view you have to see to believe. It's a car drive to the beach but only a few minutes. The house is very private with a great layout for families or groups wanting a bit of separation from each other. The general style is modern and open with simple furnishings but everything is very nice. It has great bathrooms and we loved the wireless stereo system. We listened to our favourite music on Pandora all holiday which just added to our comfort and relaxation. Downsides? There's no umbrella or shade to hide from the sun and its too hot to sit out on the amazing deck for too long between 10 and 4pm. We were at the beach a lot of the time but a beach umbrella for there would also have been much welcomed. The Blue Oasis house is right next door to another house and property. You drive down the drive and go - oh no! But actually its not a problem. They were invisible to us and we didn't hear a thing from them. A bigger and better clothes rack and more pegs would have been really useful but perhaps not many people stay for 10 days as we did and the laundry room is very modern and has a great washer and dryer. Overall, this is undoubtedly a fantastic property in a wonderful location.

“Incredible Blue Oasis!”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2014

Blue Oasis is true to it's name. It offered us the ultimate luxury, combined with unparalleled natural beauty. The three level house is built and fitted out with the top interior design and practicality. Walking up in the morning to the view out of it's world and having the drinks on the large patio while watching the sunset, offered our family a perfect relaxing holiday combined with the activities that our teenagers enjoyed. Russell is incredibly charming and picturesque village that is very accessible. ! Driving around the most incredible landscapes of the Bay of Islands. Walking through rain forests, sailing around the islands and kayaking along the picturesque coastline. All of this and good coffee and good food, just bliss! We would love to have an opportunity to come back again to paradise one day.

“Our splendid stay at Blue Oasis”

Reviewed 16 Jan 2014

My family (of 10) and I had a fantastic stay at Blue Oasis. It was big enough to accomodate all of us and with the different levels, all bedrooms had splendid ocean views. So when we wanted privacy, it was perfect to hang out in the balcony and read/sunbath etc. With so many activities to do just nearby it was the perfect holiday!

“Our Perfect Wedding accommodation - A touch of class.”

Reviewed 2 Jan 2014

Staying at the Blue Oasis was the Perfect place for myself to stay in the lead up to my wedding. Russell is a small town and with 200 guests in town - taking time out to calm before my big day was needed and being here as soon as I walked in - was breathtaking. All the amenities you could want, getting ready with my Bridesmaids and family was spacious and easy, so much room for us all to get ready comfortably - and my wedding night a Romantic retreat where my new husband and I could totally relax in. We had all 4 seasons while we were here - Rain, Thunder, lightning Wind, Sun, heat..you name it - and we were kept safe and totally enjoyed the spectacular views of the Bay...cannot wait to come back again in the future.

“Utter Bliss”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2013

We arranged to rent Blue Oasis during the Christmas to New Year week, and so set our plans in motion nearly a year in advance. From that point onward I knew we were in great hands. Debra (the owner) was absolutely determined to ensure our every question was answered and needs were met. Blue Oasis is a gorgeous home, set on the hillside above the one of the most beautiful views in the world was fabulous in every way. A superbly well appointed kitchen meant no need to go out, so we barbequed most nights and enjoyed brewing our own delicious coffee each morning. We were four adults and two children (ages 9-13) and the home was large enough to provide us all with private spaces to spread out and the spaces were substantial enough to allow us to spend time together comfortably. The numerous and perfectly situated balconies were our favourite part! Russell satisfied our need for beautiful scenery, physical activity and cultural experiences. Highly recommend this property. We will definitely be back! (Should note that guests with limited mobility would need to drive everywhere as the long hill leading to the house would be prohibitively steep for walking).
