“Beautiful vistas and exceptional accommodations”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2014

Casa Ramon is simply the finest villa we have ever rented. Alberto, the manager, was extremely professional and very willing to assist 24-7. The bedrooms were spacious and nicely furnished with very comfortable bedding. Our family of ten had absolutely no complaints. The views of the mountains and the Pacific from the overlook and outdoor patio will be remembered for years to come. The white face monkeys and Toucans kept us entertained. We also had some wonderful meals prepared by the chef and we have requested some of the recipes.

“A Once In a Lifetime Luxury Experience in a Gorgeous Villa”

Reviewed 9 Dec 2013

I am writing this review following the truly wonderful time we had at Casa Ramon during Thanksgiving week 2013. From the gorgeous home, beautiful interior decorations, relaxing patios and pool deck, to the sweeping jungle vistas falling away to the Pacific Ocean, Casa Ramon was a delightful oasis for our family over the Thanksgiving holiday. The decor and furnishings are very high end and each room has its own little unique twists which make exploring the massive property a treat! I can not speak highly enough about the staff at the house. They were friendly, professional, efficient, and did everything to make our stay comfortable. A small army would come in during the day when we were out doing activities and we would return to a spotless home with freshly arranged flowers all over the house. Alberto especially went out of his way to respond to small requests we made and to check up on us through the week without being overbearing. We cooked phenomenal meals in the five star kitchen each night, shopping for groceries in the nearby supermarkets. We ate as a big family out on the big patio table with candles each night and even ate a fish Thanksgiving dinner after a successful day on the ocean deep sea fishing.Everything you need to cook a wonderful meal is there. We loved blending up our own frozen drink concoctions every night to sip by the lit up pool as the sun set. There is a really cute hotel (Angel del Cuna) right by the house where we had a very tasty dinner one night too. The activities nearby are awesome! Our group did horseback riding to waterfalls, snorkeling at Cano Island, deep sea fishing, ziplining, and a jungle hike. We prearranged the activities before arriving, however the home staff will help you do it too. We rented two large Suvs at San Jose for the 3 hour drive from San Jose to Dominical. That was kind of a pain, but so worth it! Definitely go to Casa Ramon for a truly unforgettable family vacation!

“Absolutely Spectacular!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2011

I stayed at Casa Ramon for 4 nights with my family on an inspection visit. My job is not to commend, but rather to give a fair critique, however, in this case Casa Ramon takes home all the prizes. 1. Rooms: the class and taste they decorated the place with is superb. Every detail has been taken care of meticulously - the mattresses are top of the line (that is one true measure of quality from where I am standing), the quality of the linens, the layout of each sleeping area has been done in a thought out way. The bathrooms are not just regular bathrooms, they all have details that make it unique from each other and extremely pleasant spaces. L' Occitane toiletries summarize the essence of the experience. 2. Decor: rustic/modern with high quality pieces, you can see details of taste such as the hand picked glass lamps, beautiful wall paintings, ample sofas, with solid tables and plenty of couch relaxing areas. Nothing is torn, nothing is dirty, everything in mint condition. 3. Unit: the house is divided into three floors. The spaces are very well distributed in that they are inclusive, yet private enough so you can manage your stay according to how social you wish to be. The Honeymoon Casita: is a little casita of the side of the pool that is private with its own kitchen and a beautiful four poster bed overlooking the ocean. But the most impressive thing of all was this: in a house of that size and caliber, where you can find 9 different wine glass types, and everything you could envision for your own kitchen (never mind a holiday kitchen!) has everything in perfectly working order. Many times, properties such as this will have many gadgets, and you get enthused until you try to use some and they are not in working order. Then the romance is gone...At Casa Ramon the maintenance crew does such a superb job, there isn't a single thing that does live in working order. What a vacation! I hope I have the chance to revisit.

“Ultimate Honeymoon Hideaway”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2011

We had the entire property to ourselves for an entire week during our honeymoon. This really is the perfect place. Every ounce of the house is incredible. The rooms are gorgeous, the furniture is beautiful, and the view from the pool/lookout must be seen to be believed. I can't really describe how awesome it was to have this huge house all to ourselves (of course, they locked off the bedrooms we weren't using, but that's a non-issue). Also, the wildife viewing from the pool area is amazing. We saw more action in the "backyard" than we did on any of our jungle tours. During the day, toucans, aracaris, lizards, monkeys, racoons, parakeets, and squirrels. At night, toads, geckos, and some pretty crazy insects (outside of course!). A little rustic, a lot luxurious, and a mountain of romantic. Lastly, phenomenal service. The staff lives in a house out back. They give you all the privacy you want, but are nearby if you need them. We felt quite safe.

Response from the owner Hi David and Pilar, We at Casa Ramon really appreciate your kind review. We await your return and wish you the very best. Sincerely Jorge Retana

“Costa Rica Comfort and adventure”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2011

Casa Ramon--what at first only sounded like a simple abode--actually turned out to be a little piece of paradise. Seculded. Lush. One with the earth. The experience is best summed up as way to live in luxury, remove yourself from your comfort zone of home and into comfort that is indescribable. Exotic flowers, exotic birds, earth, wind, sea, and a new-found inner self. At peace. At home. With hosts that are there to take care of you and not to intrude into your little piece of paradise. With your choice of activities or complete and utter seclusion, you define your "destiny of the day.” Enjoy, live, love-- you'll remember, you'll tell stories--you'll never forget your time at Casa Ramon! “A real five star destination with incredible beauty!”

Reviewed 30 Jan 2011

As we have traveled around the world, few places have left a mark on our memories as our stay at Casa Ramon. First there was the exquisite architecture of the house itself, the materials used in building it, the spaces to relax, to talk, meditate, eat, socialize, or watch the gorgeous birds of Costa Rica. Then the surrounding gardens, the walk to the beach, all through lush jungle; in addition, the graciousness and hospitality of Jorge and John, willing to drive us anywhere or arranging expeditions (my favorite was the horse ride through the jungle to the waterfall, observing monkeys and birds along the way). Their amazing "observation deck" was, in itself enought to make me want to go back there, again and again.

“A beautiful private villa on the lush central pacific-Costa Rica”

Reviewed 8 Nov 2010

Casa Ramon is spacious and luxurious enough to spend a week or a month just at the house itself, but due it's location it can also serve as a great home base to explore the beauty of the Central Pacific. We stayed for a week and did a mixture of both. We spent a few days just relaxing and unwinding including sitting on the deck bird/monkey watching, sipping rum drinks, and swimming in the pool. Once unwound, we decided to visit several of the local beaches including our favorites Playa Pinuelo and Playa Ballena (I also recommend Playa Ventanas from a previous trip). One day we took a day-trip to one of the most famous and beautiful beaches/national parks in all of Costa Rica-Manuel antonio! There is now a brand new, wide road and you can make it there in less than 30 minutes! Some of the best snorkeling/diving is off Isla del Cano which is also easily accessible from Casa Ramon. I describe the variety of fish/marine life at Cano as a "symphony” under water! (the best time to go is in the summer). The villa itself is spectacular and very modern while still retaining a unique Costa Rican feel. The grounds are lush and well maintained adding to the overall tropical and chic feel of Casa Ramon. It's no understatement to say that we really enjoyed our time and will definitely return again!

“A gorgeous getaway to relax and explore.”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2010

I was so impressed with the manner in which the owners built their place to blend right in with the surrounding environment. It has an ecologically accented and friendly feel. There were many coastal and highlands areas to trek through and explore. The ocean was most inviting and only a short jaunt down a staircase built into the hill. Wildlife and exotic fruits abounded all around. Having traveled a lot for the Discovery Channel throughout Latin america, I was most pleased with the comfort level and ease of access to so many amenities. Overall I was most satisfied.

“Paradise Found”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2010

Paradise Found at Casa Ramon in beautiful Costa Rica. I will difinetly return again as this a first class vaction spot. Nestled on a gated Mountain side overlooking the ocean with all the natural beauty of the rain forest and all the beautiful creatures that live in this enviornment. Casa Ramon is an exquiste place with beautiful architecture and three beautiful gourmet kitchens and its beautiful Lanai overlooking the infinity pool. The service was impeccable and Fernando and his staff take care of all your needs. We had a blast and look forward to our return to the most hospitable place on earth. The locals have a saying "Pura Vida" and yes its pure life. Eddie Sussmann
