“The best yet”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2017

We have been coming to Ajijic for the Canadian winters for the past six years. This house is the finest accommodation we have thus far experienced. It is in a long-established gated community with two large green spaces/parks which include a tennis court and two pools (one a wading pool). The location is quiet and peaceful. The house itself has been extensively updated and re-modeled with a keen and eclectic artist’s eye, and has been very well maintained. Each of the three bedrooms is distinctively designed and furnished; likewise the 4.5 bathrooms, the salon and dining room, and the office. Art of all kinds is everywhere (including quite lovely stained glass windows in four of the bathrooms). Each day we notice something that we hadn’t before. The interior kitchen is fully equipped, and there is an outdoor kitchen with its own delightful lounge and eating area (in fact, there are two outdoor dining tables, as well as the one inside). The plant life on the property is plentiful and lush. And we enjoy the gentle sounds of the two exterior fountains. In short, the indoor and outdoor living in this house is all one could ask.

Response from the owner Thanks, so glad you love the house as we do!

“Great Place To Stay”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2014

My daughters and I spent a week in Ajijic at Geraldine beautiful and well appointed home and we had a great time. The house is located in a gated development very safe and quiet. Gearldine was very easy and efficient to work with we actually booked her home at thd last minute and everything went very smoothly. We had booked another property for our vacation and the owner canceled our reservation three week prior to our arrival date. Therefore we were very fortunate to find this home and glad we did. The location is very convenience to the downtown plaza just a short cab ride or the bus stop is across the street The cab are very inexpensive and the bus ride is about 6-9 pesos or if you are a strong walked you can walk to the plaza. There is a Walmart, pharmacy, restaurants and local market within a short walk from the house. My daughters and I had spent the previous week in PVR we took a bus ETN line from PVR to Guadalajara very nice trip on a great bus. Gearldine had provide a driver to drive us from the bus depot to the house. At the depot we were met by Herbert from Haceinda Property Management a very nice man who drove us from Guadalajara to Ajijic. When we arrived at the house Herbert gave us a tour of the home and then took us to the downtown plaza pointing out places of interest and provided helpful information. Herbert and his partner Victor were available for assistance and information if needed. The house situated across from the pool and a beautiful small pictureque park was very well equipped with every possible item you might need. Needlessly to say we had a great and very comfortable stay. Thank you Gearldine,Herbert, Victor and Alex for a great stay in Ajijic/Lake Chapala.

“we loved it a home away from home”

we loved it'a home away from home and a nice safe area. The house is spacious and tastefully decorated well above average this is our third year in a row and hopefully many more. The area is handy to business, market{a must visit}public transportation {cheap&safe;} The people are most friendly easy to meet and make friends, lots of canadian and american residents here. The restaraunts are many and food well above average in most. Its also close to guadalajara that has everything you may want or need.good golf tennis and other sports along with lots of history yours to discover. Many clubs to make you feel at home and direct you to trips and places you may want to see or just hang out roy&peggy; mcgrath cornwall ont canada

“Above and beyond our expectations! Fantastic place!”

Beautiful house in gated community in hillside town, just outside Guadalajara. Gorgeous place, super clean, nice gardens, well maintained. Inside was five star. Place with quiet and friendly neighbours. All the conveniences of home and easy to get to. Easy for making arrangements, booking, paying etc... It is a great spot for a family or a group, especially for a longer stay. The community nearby by is great with lots of art, little shopts and restaurants. Lots of great deals to be had. Other than restaurants, there isn't tons of nightlife immediately nearby but plenty in Guadalajara about 45 minutes away. Plenty of parks and water recreation very close by. I wasn't a big fan of driving around at night, but that applies to most places I don't know well. It was a great place to wind down and chill out. Loved it.

“A marvellous time was had by all”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2010

We loved the airy spaciousness of the house and the quiet environment, but so close to the action in downtown ajijic. We spent January-February there in 2009 and again in 2010. We love well furnished comfort of the house with some lovely art and mementoes of travel in Mexico. Local attractions we particularly enjoyed were the fiestas and Charros (displays of horsemanship and bull-riding) in the lead up to lent. The crafts of Mexico are really amazing. In ajijic we were centrally located to visit Guadalajara city and its bordering craft centres in Tlaquepaque and Tonalla. A little further away is Patzcuaro with its wonderful villages that each specialize in one particular craft. We bought a wonderful silver bowl in Santa Clara del Cobre which specializes in beaten metal artwork. We intend to go back some some day in October/November to see the celebrations around all Saints and all Souls days. Ajijic, the town is safe and secure, with a large group of North america expatriates living year round in retirement. So there is some catering to the whims of North american tastes for those who want it. For my money, the best, most delicious spicy food I ever tasted was in little hole in the wall restaurants and at street vendor stands in ajijic. I am going back home to australia next January, but for sure I'll be back the year after.
