“Perfect location, everything organized and cleaned!”
Perfect location and lovely place. Very clean and tidy, as advertised. Chantal was great and gave us a lot of tips to walk around Venice. The vaporetto stop was just 5 minutes walking from the apartment and can take you to main points in Venice/Murano/Burano. Venice is a fantastic and astonishing city and hope we have a chance to be back =D. Thanks for all the support Chantal!
“Ottima accoglienza a Venezia”
Bref, l'adresse ideale!
“Spent multiple weeks here. Don't make the same mistake.”
Here's the condensed version: Air conditioning not working. It gets fixed and hot water stops working. Chantal has the plumber come. Air conditioning stops again. We tell her water and air still aren't fixed, she says"yes they are' and we were doing something wrong. Plumber comes, locks us out somehow. Chantal won't come to let us in, so my roommate has to wait 1.5 hours for the tattoo shop to open, then has to find our unlabeled key. Apartment still broken. Chantal's assistant comes to check on things. Sees something's wrong. Chantal moves us to the apartments across the hall. 1st apartment fixed and we move back. None of this happened quickly. There were many days between each complaint and solution (or lack of solution). The apartment's fine if everything works. But everything won't work, and you'll have to deal with Chantal. On move out day, she returned our security deposits. Because of all the problems we had, we very calmly and cordially asked for a partial refund. Instead of simply apologizing, or saying "I'm sorry, I can only give you X amount back" Chantal threw a temper tantrum. She stomped around the apartment slamming doors. When we tried to talk about all the problem we had, she shouted at us that we should be saying "Thank you, Chantal!" because when everything in our apartment was broken, she let us stay in her other, unoccupied apartment across the hall instead of "letting us sleep in the street." Then she told us it was her apartment and we were guests and should be appreciative of everything she did for us. Her reasons included blaming the plumber, telling us she was scrambling around and we just couldn't tell, and saying she had family problems. It all may be true, but they way she handled it was unacceptable. We were left feeling like she wasn't trying to fix anything, we had to deal with her attitude, and we had to spend a lot of time in a very hot apartment with freezing showers. Renting this apartment is not worth the trouble.
Response from the owner Dear “unhappy renter”, in order to dispel this misunderstanding, I'd like to get some points clear. You stayied several weeks and told me you loved the apartment. Problems unexpectedly appeared and got completely fixed in one week. My Guests know who I am and they appreciate my attitude and my apartments from many years as you can see in other reviews: I work hard every day to make my guests' stay perfect, and I do it. So sorry you did not appreciate my efforts. You got an extra accomodation in the perfectly working Chromotherapy apartment, front door: you could stay there - using at the same moment the Vintage apartment if you needed- until the problems would be fixed; problems solved, I let you find a Bellini bottle in the fridge “to toast problems goodbye”. Even after all, you got an extra refund. What I got is a terrible undeserved review. Like all apartments for rent, Vintage has no reception 24/7. However, my Guests can always join me by email or telephone, and while I could not be physically there, there are trusted persons who give assistance in my place. When we met the day before your depature, we discussed being both tired of that situation. I just dealt with you, but your arrogant attitude made me cold. Not mad. Once received your extra refund one day before check – out, you left the wc seat broken, without advising. It is not fair to slander me after doing something behind my back: I trusted you. I am wondering if you simply wanted to take advantage of the situation to get extra money from me. In any case, nothing gives you the right to discredit me.
“ideal place for family holidays in Venice”
I spent more than one week here with my family. Strongly recommend: comfortable venue with ideal location (walking distance to all venetian must to see and shopping areas, very close to the important vaporetto station - easy to reach any destination incl islands, couple supermarkets nearby). Thanks to Chantal, she gave us important hints how to spend time in beautiful Venice.
“Séjour à Venise”
Excellent accueil.
“Best Venetian experience ever”
At Easter I spent a week with my three kids (age 11, 9 & 4) in Venice. Temperature wise it had been the coldest Easter in years. Therefore I had specifically looked for a place with good windows (well insulated) and good heating. Vintage apartment had all this. It was exactly as described on the internet by Chantal, the very friendly and always accommodating owner, who greeted us with a traditional Italian Easter cake. Thank you again :)! The size of the apartment was great for 4 people: 2 bedrooms, a living room, a small bathroom and a rather spacious kitchen, which was well equipped, even with a washing machine. We got to hang our laundry outside the kitchen window. It felt so Venetian doing that... Wifi worked flawlessly. The interior design was ok, everything worked properly and was in good shape (beds, mattresses) and the place was spotlessly clean. The most charming thing about Vintage is its location. We felt like native Venetians for a week. This area of the city is busy mainly with locals, yet in the evenings it was very quiet. The apartment overlooks a charming courtyard (campo). Everything you could possible need is right around the corner: super market, fruit & vegetable stalls, wine shop, toy shop, hair dresser, ... My four-year-old went all by himself to the bakery to buy pastries for breakfast every morning. In the evening the kids played soccer in the campo and found other kids to join them. The walk to "Fundamento Nuovo" boat stop took us 15 mins with luggage and 7 mins without. It is a very convenient stop from where you can go to many places in the lagoon. We acquired the 7-day boat passes right upon arrival at the railway station just as Chantal had told us and we found getting to "our apartment" very easy. Thank you Chantal for making our stay that easy. Your recommendation of pizzeria "Alvise" was marvelous. We had a fabulous farewell dinner there - very kid friendly place! Molto grazie and until next time!
L'appartamento è molto bello e spazioso ed è situato in una posizione ottima . C'è in dotazione il necessario per il soggiorno e l'arredamento è carino e confortevole. Chantal è molto gentile e disponibile nel fornire indicazioni utili .
“Another Great Stay at Ca 5393”
Last year (May 2011) we stayed in the Ca smart apartment, also owned by Chantal Fresco and located in the Ca 5393 building. My review (We Want to Come Back) listed the many advantages of the building's location: local shops, excellent selection of nearby restaurants, quiet surroundings, and proximity to the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop. Obviously, being in the same building, the Vintage apartment shares these same virtues. Vintage has a different "vibe" or feel. The apartment is brighter, with larger rooms and more "livable" space. (The one exception is the bathroom, which is smaller than that in Ca smart.) The kitchen is large and nicely arranged. There is an oven (including broiler), a range/stovetop, a microwave, refrigerator, large sink, and counter space. The clothes washer is also in the kitchen, along with drying racks. My wife and I were able to create 3 or 4 nice home-cooked dinners in the apartment kitchen. The biggest difference for myself, initially, was the change of view. We chose Vintage because it was one floor lower, and we have 2 children to drag up and down the stairs. I missed the canal, and looking out over the rooftops toward the Church of San Giovanni e Paolo (San Zanipolo). Soon, however, I really came to enjoy looking out over "our" campo, especially in the evenings when the nearby Ostaria Boccadoro filled with happy diners. The only downside to facing the campo was seagulls! The nieghborhood was very quiet at night, but on some mornings the seagulls would arrive at daybreak to raid the trash left out for pickup. Their cries echoed from the buildings, creating an unholy racket. Closing the front windows and shutters solved that problem. One thing would make vintage perfect: air conditioning. There are ceiling fans and good airflow with the windows open, but it was hot in July. The best thing about the apartment? Chantal. Always helpful and friendly, with great recommendations. We still want to come back!
