“One of life's little treasures....”

Reviewed 28 Oct 2014

We had a fabulous time. We filled every bedroom !! My mother and father, twin sisters, auntie and uncle, friend of the family and my husband, son and myself stayed for 2 nights !! what an incredible place !! the house is a hidden treasure but so big !! plenty of room to cook, eat, play etc... We stayed for my fathers 60th birthday as a surprise and what a surprise it was for him !! Plenty of games, cupboards full of books, board games, DVDs. kitchen cupboards full of things you always forget (salt, pepper, olive oil, etc), more than enough utensils, everything in working order, view is beautiful and scenic, especially the sheep and lambs in the field from the window of the master bedroom, rooms beautifully decorated. Keswick is just a short drive. Stephen (the owner) could not have more accommodating with our booking, instructions, everything was just perfect !! Thank you Stephen

“Huge, comfortable and well-located.”

Great if you are staying with different groups of people/family members as each bedroom is large and has its own bathroom. Very well equipped kitchen so ideal if you're going to do lots of cooking yourself as we did. The view is just fabulous and you can walk right from the house if you want to. The games room is perfect for keeping the more energetic occupied in the evenings! The size of the house means it does get a little bit cold in the evenings - I imagine this would more of an issue in the winter. However, there's a lovely open fire in the lounge which is stocked with wood and coal.

“Fantastic Break in The Lakes”

Reviewed 2 Jun 2014

After a great deal of research, I chose the Old Vicarage for a big family celebration, which was for my 60th birthday and a visit from my daughter, her partner and my little granddaughter from New Zealand. There were 12 of us altogether, including 3 youngsters and I can honestly say the accommodation at the Old Vicarage was incredible. Each room had it's own en suite facilities, which made things a lot easier for getting ready and also for bathing the toddlers. The house was so spacious and included a games room, which had table tennis and a pool table. The house was beautifully clean with a large kitchen and dining room for us all to eat together, a large lounge and 2 kitchens. We were very lucky with the weather and the children loved playing safely in the gardens, surrounded by the amazing views. There is ample parking for several cars but we didn't need to use them whilst staying there as we were able to go on lovely walks, including the Stone Circles, directly from the house. We all agreed that we could not have stayed anywhere nicer. A big thank you to Stephen, the owner, for a very enjoyable break.

“homely house with great views and fully equipt”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2014

The old vicarage catered for all our family needs from there being an en-suite in every room to having enough room for us to have a good family gathering in comfort with spacious rooms for the 12 of us to eat sleep and lounge. It was within easy access of the towns of Keswick and ambleside and many of the lakes and mountains. We visited the Bowder stone and climbed st johns back which sits at the back of the property. I liked how the property was furbished and the only factor I least liked was the position of the property to the road but this really wasn't an issue. We will revisit.

“Lovely house in a stunning setting”

Reviewed 16 Mar 2014

Well appointed house in a beautiful setting. Ample room for our party of nine. Comfortable accommodation and well appointed bathrooms and bedrooms. The weather was glorious so it was nice to be able to sit in the garden and take in the view. However I can imagine that it would be just as nice to sit in front of the open fire on chilly days. Good location for walking in the Northern Lakes and touring the area as a whole.

“Wonderful house”

My family and I had an amazing weekend at this house and will definitely be recommending it to friends. It had everything you could need and more. The location is excellent and the view unbelievable. Can't wait to come back and stay again!

“Perfect for a family gathering”

Reviewed 13 Jan 2014

The Old Vicarage comfortably housed our large family with each couple enjoying their own en-suite bathroom, and there was plenty of room for us all around the big dining table. The house had everything we needed and we enjoyed using the games room and open fires. Views from the windows are stunning and there are some lovely walks from the house. Keswick is only a five-minute drive. Would definitely go back again!

“Comfortable and High Quality accommodation in Easy Reach of Kesw”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2014

We stayed at the Old Vicarage for new year 2014 having been the lucky beneficiaries of a cancellation. This is a truly outstanding, spacious and comfortable house. From sitting together around the kitchen table for meals to loafing around on the table tennis table it was highly enjoyable and comfortable. The bedrooms are all spacious with well appointed en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms. Very cosy around the coal fire in the large lounge in the evening. Great walks on the doorstep or within easy reach. Can only say good things about this fantastic house. For balance I'd only say mobile reception isn't great (better not far from the house) but that's possibly a good thing. Would highly recommend the house and grounds all of which swallowed up our party comfortably.

“Just like home!”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2013

we booked this after a long search on the internet for a large property to sleep 12. The booking process was easy and the owner very pleasant to deal with. The direction given to get to the property were simple to follow. On arrival at the house(even though it was dark) the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The heating was on in the house and all the beds were made. The house is full equipped with every appliance and utensil you could need. The area was important in our choice, but can honestly say this house is lovely, The views in the morning were amazing. Would definitely recommend
