“Great value one bedroom apartment.”
We chose this Brooklyn apartment based on the reviews and the value. We found the posted reviews to be very helpful and accurate. We required a comfortable apartment for a one month stay whilst we visited our daughter who has moved to NY. The apartment: Secure and private. Very comfortable and spacious for a NY apartment. A well equipped kitchen and functional living area even with the couch remaining as a double bed. A very comfortable queen sized bed in the main bedroom. The flat screen TV is in the bedroom. We were in the apartment in the colder months and it was always warm. The Service: Fraulein makes the difference and is very welcoming and helpful. The service was as good as our expectations based on the other reviews. The Location: The apartment is in Brooklyn not Manhattan but is priced accordingly. We found it to be a safe, comfortable, quiet and convenient location. There is a choice of transport options within walking distance. We mainly used the Prospect Park Subway station as our starting point (direct service to Manhattan and also Coney Island). It is a brisk 5 minute walk from the Rutland Rd apartment. What we liked best was the cosy feel of the apartment and the extra space which was complimented by the personal service from Fraulein.
“Perfect Home away From Home!”
Being a native New Yorker it is important that I feel like I am home when I rent an apartment in the city, especially now that we are travelling with our 2 year old daughter. Fraulien & John's garden apartment was that and more! It was comfortable; equipped with everything we needed to be the ideal home away from home. Having the refrigerator equipped with the essential breakfast food was a real treat. We really appreciated not having to run out to the grocery right away after our long flight. The neighborhood is diverse being busy with stores and takeout food places on Flatbush avenue and very quiet and picturesque on the street the apartment is located on. The grocery and public transport are close. Prospect Park is also nearby which offers a lot like a zoo, botanical garden, perfect for a quiet stroll, enough playground / areas and also the perfect place for a jog. Even in the chilly November weather! Fraulien (unfortunately we didn't get to meet John) was the perfect hostess, providing information and everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and hassle free. We will definitely be back next time we visit New York! Thank you very much for your great hospitality!!
“Truly a home away from home”
We stayed here on a girls trip and had an absolutely great stay. There were no issues, everything worked how it was supposed to and Fraulein was super helpful. The apartment looked exactly like the pictures and I was actually surprised at how big and spacious it was (there were 4 of us staying with lots of shoes and clothes to house) The subway is, at most, 10min walk away (I walk slow) and gets you into the city (Manhattan) in about 20mins. There's loads of food shops, grocery and convenience stores close by. I'm quite familiar with area so maybe my view could be a little bit bias, but I think even for a NY novice or even a newbie to this area you should feel safe and comfortable here. Fraulein made our stay really comfortable, we arrived to a fridge full of goodies and she was on hand whenever we needed her and she did clean and change of linens during our stay. If you're in NY for a break away of course you won't be indoors much but for the time that you are it's great to have such a lovely space to come back to and relax in. I would definitely stay again hopefully very soon *T*
“the apartment was great and spacious”
We had a great stay and the owners were very friendly and helpful.eveything was in the apartment and even a welcome pack of milk , bread, bagels, eggs and many more things that was very helpful.location was easy to get about as the subway was a short walk away.
“This was a winner!!”
From the minute we opened the door we felt at home here. It was exactly the accommodation that we required, clean and near shopping street and metro. It is just a short hop into Manhattan. The proprietors could not have done more for us. If we visit NYC again we will not stay any where else.
Fräulein was the best host. She was welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The home was warm and cosy and in a good position. At first we were worried about the neighbour hood but discovered all was fine even coming home late on the subway, which runs about every 10 min. I would recommend taking earplugs because its a noisy city and the airport nearby shuts about midnight but this is only an issue if you have your window open. We really enjoyed our stay.
“Close to everything-spacious”
Stayed in Prospect Park area for first time, excellent proximity to subway-10 mins to Manhattan.
“So much better than a hotel !!”
We felt so much at home during our week long stay. The apartment was cozy yet roomy, and very comfortable for our family of four (including a tween and a teen). Fraulein was most accommodating and helpful, and also available as she lives upstairs. The kitchen was a great feature. Walking distance to nearby supermarket but most staples were surprisingly provided! About 3 or 4 blocks away is the beautiful Prospect Park and its Metro station. From there a Metrocard will get you most anywhere you want to go! We took the Q and B lines in to Manhattan almost daily. Our NY relatives were all surprised to see how nice and safe this area of Brooklyn has become. In fact I think they were quite jealous that we found this little gem! We returned at all hours of the night, walking from the station, and even if it was somewhat dark, we never felt unsafe in any way.
“Loved living in Brooklyn!”
A great experience staying in Brooklyn. Everyone we met was very welcoming. The area was exciting, safe and close to Prospect Park with a 2/3 minute walk to the station. It was only one stop on the subway to 5th and 7th street with lots of good restaurants. Fraulein was very helpful and provided lots of provisions for our first few days. The appartment was ideal. It was very clean with lots of space. We had a great time with lots of memories.
“Nice and affordable apt in Brooklyn!”
During our trip to NY, I stayed in this apt with my sister and a friend for 10 days. It was just perfect! Fraulein welcome us with bagels, milk, juice, etc so we didn't need to go out to buy food upon arrival. The apt was very clean and nicely decorated. Everything we need was available, Internet, cable TV, towels, bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies, maps, list of attractions...and the shower was amazing. The subway station was just a few blocks away and it took us about 20 minutes to get to downtown NY. Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens were very close and a nice place to relax from the stress that NY can make you feel sometimes. Thank you so much John and Fraulein for your hospitality...I will come back soon!
