“Ideal flat in Reykjavik for family with children! Perfect actually!”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2014

My husband, myself and our 3 children (aged 14, 11 and 9), stayed in the upper apartment for 5 nights end of September / beginning of October. The flat is centrally located in a quiet location. Parking just outside (fee) or by the Hallgrims Church (free). Tastefully decorated in contemporary Scandinavian style. Has everything you could want: Washer, dryer, dishwasher, central heating, tv, sound system with docking for Ipod, microwave, very comfortable beds and douvets, ample storage, freezer, comfortable sofa bed in the living room. The only thing we missed was a DVD player. The owner answers e-mails quickly, gave us tips on car rental, good stores for speciality food etc. Both the apartment and the owner comes highly recommended. Would deffinately stay here again :-)

“10 days in Reykjavik”

Reviewed 27 May 2014

Our family of 9 adults and our one year old grandson travelled to Iceland early May, and I rented both the Upper and Lower Red House Holiday Flats to accommodate our large group. Mark was very accommodating through the booking process and answered any questions I had, via email , before our family departed Edmonton, Alberta Canada Both flats were set up with the comforts of home. The beds were comfortable. There was enough closet space in the bedrooms for storage of luggage and clothes. The kitchen was set up with basic items for stay(spices, sugar, salt, etc) and coffee and tea were supplied. Washer and dryer available. WIFI available and television. We found parking to not be a big issue, as there is an alley that is opposite the entrances to both flats and we were always able to park at least one of the two vehicles we had rented. There is parking on the street and not all is metered. Access to shops, restaurants, groceries and the Marina are all within a nice walk through the downtown of Reykjavik. There is a little seating area behind the house to read or just watch the hustle and bustle of the street. I could write a very long review on our stay, but to sum up, we all enjoyed what was available in the flats. I would recommend either of the flats, as both are set up the same..... If I travel back to Reykjavik, I wouldn't hesitate to contact Mark and stay in the Red Holiday House again.

“You won't be disappointed!”

Yes, this rental is as excellent as all the reviews say! Very clean, comfortable, well appointed and the location cannot be beat. It slept our group of five ladies very comfortably and for a group, was more affordable and convenient that staying at a hotel. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

“Great all around”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2011

I stayed here with my family for three days this June and it would wonderful. It is located approximately three blocks from that amazing church and about a two minute straight walk to the main street. The street that it is on is full of shopping and has an awesome noodle shop. The house has everything you need and is super clean and comfortable. It was so luxurious compared to all other places we stayed at in iceland or indeed any place I have stayed in Europe. It has two large rooms, a living room, large dining table and full kitchen. I love it and would stay again. (Actually I wish I owned the place and everyone that was with me constantly raved about it.) Additionally the owner got the damage deposit back to me in one day after check out. Could not have been better. Thanks for an awesome stay!

“Perfectly located apt, well furnished, a superb value”

Reviewed 11 Feb 2011

This apartment is perfectly located in the city center. Very nice inside, exactly as advertised. The owners were helpful and easy to deal with. Clean, comfortable and absolutely a better value than the area hotels.

“A perfect location and excellent value.”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2010

The Red House served as a fantastic base of operations for Reykjavik and Iceland. The location is fantastic, less than five minutes walk to the main shopping district, and there's a hotel half a block away where you can get picked up for all the guided tours, airport bus, and whatnot. The apartment was spotless when we arrived, bright and roomy, and very nicely furnished. The owners also left clear instructions on how to use everything from the laundry to the WiFi, which was appreciated.

“excellent location, felt like home!”

Reviewed 31 Oct 2010

The Red House was really great - while wandering around 101 Reykjavik, we could see Hallgrimskirka church from almost everywhere, so getting home was a breeze even when we got confused in the winding streets. Very close to bars and shops, but not so close that it's loud during runtur (friday night is the big party night a few blocks away!) Warm, comfy beds, modern, and well decorated - really felt like a home away from home.

“great house in reykjavik's best street”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2010

This great house ticks all the boxes. it's in an unbeatable central location. it's warm and cosy, light filled, and clean. you'll feel right at home. every small thing you will need is there. the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, and there's a great coffee machine (buy the coffee from world champion barista and roaster at kaffismidja, round the corner!) the beds are very comfortable. there's lots of storage. everything seems very new. There is a landline which can be very handy. The owners are great to deal with. I looked at 5 places before we found the red house and we stayed there for 1 month. i usually find there's always something disappointing about furnished rentals, but you can trust this one. it's a real gem.

Response from the owner Thank you for staying with us, Alison. And for the great review!

“Centrally Located, Fully Equipped Flat Rental”

Reviewed 27 Sep 2010

The Red House was the perfect location to stay in Reykjavik, literally a minute way from the city centre with shops and grocery right next door. It is close by the church, Hallgrímskirkja, which is so tall that we used it as a landmark to find our way home. This flat is fully equipped from linens to all necessary cooking utensils and appliances. It was wonderful to have a morning coffee before spending the day sight seeing around Iceland.

Response from the owner Annie, Thanks for the fine review. You forgot the Stars! Oh well, That's OK.

“Just perfect”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2010

I have been traveling to Iceland for years and have taken many apts and this was the best by far. Located dwtn, by the church, so you do not get the party noise, but close enough to walk to the City ctr. Clean, well furnished, cute, comfortable. Management was super and I will def stay there my next trip.
