“Perfect Vacation Spot”
Spectacular views. House is wonderful. Staff is awesome. Could not have been more accommodating. Sharon's meals were awesome. Cutty, our driver is an invaluable resource of information. Will definitely go back
Response from the owner So happy your stay was great! Sharon and Cutty are the best staff ever! They enjoyed your stay and look forward to your return! We want Cabarita Lookout to be your "home away from home."
We had a fantastic time at Cabarita Lookout. Your home is lovely and what an incredible view!!! Cutty, Sharon and Devon were great. Cutty was so helpful planning our days and driving us around. We went to the Black Sands Beach/Waterfall, ate at Susie's twice, went to the Reggae Beach and Craft Market, took a tour of Firefly and just spent some days relaxing by the pool. Sharon's meals were perfect. We had three big fish eaters and three meat eaters and she was very accommodating. I loved the Rum Bread Pudding!
I had an absolutely wonderful time at Cabarita Lookout. I could not have been happier with my stay. There is a perfect balance of options for a broad scope of vacation preferences. If you prefer a quiet and private retreat and spending time poolside with a cocktail while overlooking the ocean below there's no better place. If you want to get out to go to a beach, take a hike to (or up) a waterfall, shop in the Ocho Rios market, or get out and see Jamaica, just ask Cutty and he takes you were you want to go. For meals, there are many options in the area and plenty of great foods to sample, but a nice meal at the villa prepared by Sharon can't be beat. This place was definitely the Jamaican getaway that I was looking for!
“Beautifully handcrafted villa on top of Jamaican town hillside.”
Warm breeze in the morning, cool breeze from the hills at night. "Infinite pool" overlooking the ocean (180+ degrees of sea). Adjacent to Jamaican landmark, Noel Coward's garden and writer's villa (also overlooking island where they shot Golden Eye). If you want to bypass tourism heckling and enjoy your trip, I would highly recommend experiencing Jamaican town life... this is your spot. The staff--Cutty, Sharon, Natalie, and Devon-- were all fun, kind, and helpful. Ask Cutty (driver) for recommendations based on your interests... some of us had scuba days, waterfall days, exploration days. All of us had multiple beach days. Breakfast and dinner were wonderful. Ask Natalie (cook/caretaker) how her guitar is coming along. Will be uploading videos to share soon! Best vacation I have ever experienced. Already excited to plan a return to Port Maria!
“Breathtaking every time I visit”
This was my fourth visit to Cabarita Lookout, yet every time I stand on the veranda I am struck again anew with the beauty of the place. In terms of views, it rivals any I have seen in the world. From the comfort of the private and secluded villa, you can see the rugged a majestic coastline, the blue Caribbean water, and the endless skies. All this you can see from the private pool, the grounds and the many verandas where you can eat meals, read, relax and enjoy a true vacation. The staff are helpful and kindhearted, able to help you craft adventures away from the villa and to enjoy your time staying there. The food is really exceptional. In my experience, the Jamaican cooking you eat at Cabarita Lookout is as good if not better than what you typically are served at restaurants. Overall, it is just wonderful--The perfect combination of relaxation and adventure.
“Amazing homebase for our Jamaican adventures!”
My wife and I stayed at Cabarita Lookout with 3 other couples in early February 2014, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to other travellers who are looking to experience Jamaica outside of its cruiseship port destinations. The house itself is great. It's quite new, has plenty of space, and each bedroom has its own private bathroom. The house had wifi, though we tried to keep our devices off for the most part (but it was nice for streaming music to the bluetooth-equipped speakers they have around the place)! I loved the main dining table--it's about 16 feet long and could fit a huge family. The house has million dollar views from the patio or from the pool deck. Sharon and Natalie, the cooks/housekeepers, and Cutty, the driver/all-around-helpful-guy-for-whatever-you-need, were all extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast typically included eggs and pancakes and a huge plate of fresh fruit. Sharon took requests for dinner (and also provides recommendations), and the result was always authentic, fresh, home-cooked Jamaican food. Cutty is quite the character, in a very good way. He seems to know everyone and everything in the area. He recommended a scuba diving company and drove my wife and I there, and it was perfect. He arranged for some local fishermen/budding tour guides to take us to Black Sand Beach and guide us on a hike to a remote waterfall--highly recommended. He'll also provide roundtrip shuttle to and from the airport, which is key. It was a little strange basically having our own private driver on this trip, it definitely felt more luxurious than our typical vacations where we tend to rely on public transportation. The house is located a relatively short drive from a ton of spots worth visiting. You could plan out your trip in advance, or just sit down with Cutty on the first night and plan your trips for the week then. Tl;dr: 5 stars, awesome house, awesome views, awesome people in Sharon and Cutty. Will be going back.
“Perfect Place to Getaway”
This is a fantastic property for people who really want to get away and experience Jamaica. You won't find any tourist traps or cruise ships here; instead, you'll find a warm and welcoming local experience. Cutty will pick you up at the airport and will immediately acquaint you with the area, while Sharon will cook you delicious homemade meals. Fishing, diving, snorkelling, hiking, name any activity you want and Cutty will find it for you. If you prefer to relax at the beach or by the pool, that can be arranged too. Each morning, you'll awake to a gorgeous view from the top of the hill. The house is breezy and comfortable. If guests are able to share double beds this property can easily accommodate 10-12 people.
Our vacation at Cabarita Lookout was simply amazing. Let's start with the scenery, the villa's unobstructed/unspoiled view of Jamaica's rugged north coast was incredible to say the least! Firefly is suppose to have one of the best views on the island and views from the tranquil verandas on this property are a very close second. Our most memorable times of this vacation was how the personal touches of the villa and staff made it seem like a home away from home from the first time we arrived at the property until the day we left. What I was hoping for was a vacation environment where my busy family could spend quality time together while experiencing the wonderful people and sites of Jamaica. It exceeded all our expectations, whether sharing another great meal at the start or end of a fun filled day or simply talking on the deck well into the night about the experiences of our daily trips. This quality family time spent at the villa was priceless. Cutty was an excellent friend/driver with a wealth of knowledge. He took us on many excursions to both well known tourist locations, as well as less frequented/known attractions that showed us the real beauty of Jamaica and its communities. Sharon cooked amazing home cooked meals which included many local dishes...everything was so good! Our trip to the local grocery store for food and liquor for the week was also very reasonable, not much more than a couple decent meals at an average restaurant. This was the first time we tried a vacation like this and it was definitely the best vacation we have been on and would highly recommend it. The added touch of the villa's outstanding staff and transport allowed for an unique cultural experience for the entire family.
“The perfect getaway!”
My husband and I just returned from a week at Cabarita Lookout where we stayed with friends. I have never had a better vacation and I will never stay anywhere else in Jamaica. In my opinion, Cabarita Lookout is the perfect place for families or groups of friends. The view from the terrace is breathtaking, with panoramic views of the ocean and the rugged coastline. Pictures just don't do it justice; you have to see it for yourself. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and the pool is gorgeous. It is really a tropical paradise. The staff is so accommodating and pleasant. Miss Sharon and Natalie made us the most delicious breakfasts and dinners. We had Cutty pick up fresh mahi mahi and lobster for dinner for two nights and Miss Sharon made curried goat and chicken stir fry two other nights. I strongly suggest eating dinner at the villa as much as possible. Miss Sharon is an excellent cook. Cutty also had many good suggestions for activities and drove us wherever we needed to go. I strongly suggest going to Reggae beach, which is between Ocho Rios and Port Maria. It costs 10 dollars us to get in, but you get a beach chair and great service right where you are sitting. We bought fresh coconuts with rum in them and had an excellent lunch of jerk chicken and fresh fish. It had such a great atmosphere that we went there twice. My other favorite activity was going to the Blue Hole, which is a series of freshwater waterfalls and deep pools of the most beautiful blue color. Our guide Jason lead us around and was so friendly and helpful. There is a rope swing, a cave under a waterfall, and waterfall you can climb down. It was really fun and it is relatively unknown so there were almost no tourists when we went (as opposed to Dunn River Falls which is always busy but still very fun). I loved that we were able to stay somewhere away from the resorts and that we got to see more of Jamaica and its culture. It really was the most perfect vacation and I will definitely be back.
“An Ideal Place to Spend a Week With Friends”
Our week at Cabarita Lookout was wonderful. Walking down every morning to a beautiful breakfast was just the start of each wonderful day. The pool is perfect to hang out at and if we wanted to do anything Cutty was more than happy to oblige. I really liked going next door to see Firefly, where Noel Coward wrote his plays. Truly a delight. The view is breathtaking.
