“Amazing Vacation at ani's in Ocean Park!”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2014

My wife and I along with another couple stayed at ani's (main floor-2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms) for 10 days in early January 2014. The condition of the exterior and interior was outstanding. The size of the rooms and a complete and fully stocked kitchen as a plus as we ate most evenings at the house after touring all day. Ani (owner) was very friendly and helpful with suggestions on what to see, local restaurants and even recommended tours and guides. The few times we had a question or supplies ran out (we stayed much longer than most guests), she quickly addressed our request. The parking in front of the house was very convenient. Two world-class beaches with a 3-block radius of the house made beach lounging and strolling almost too simple and addictive. The front patio was the morning location for breakfast and coffee while the side yard patio and barbeque area was perfect for an outdoor meal Could not have expected a better rental unit and would strongly recommend this location and house.

Response from the owner These 2 couple were very nice and they really enjoyed their freindship and I love to see people enjoying and having a nice time. This is a very good review and thank you for that! Welcome back.

“Home away from home.”

I stayed for about a month in ani's apartment. The location is great in that you are less than five minutes from a great beach and the city park with running track, tennis and basketball courts are right around the corner. Kasalta bakery is within walking distance. The area can get busy, but ani's place is quiet since it is on a residental street. The apartment is roomy for one or two with a full kitchen, sitting area, bedroom and bath. There is a front porch as well, but the mosquitos can be aggressive. Ani is friendly and a wonderful host. She helped me get oriented to the area and has a wealth of knowledge of things to do all across the island. It was a pleasure doing business with her.

Response from the owner It was very nice to have you here and that you extended your stay for 20 more days! Well about the mosquitoes, remember we live in the tropic and there are always going to be mosquitoes in all exterior areas, doesn't matter where you stay in PR. Here in PR we are not use to have the exterior areas protected with screens, we just use some type of insect repellent; by the way you can be sure that in every house there is a bottle of off. I'm sure that even you that are looking for a house to buy and live in PR also will have a bottle of insect repellent in your house, lol! That's why this 1b/1b house unit has screens in all windows and door, to avoid mosquitoes coming inside. Thanks for the sharing of our meals, they were great...!

“The Real Puerto Rico Experience”

Reviewed 8 Dec 2011

The house is conveniently located 2 blocks from the beach. However, to go to anywhere else, a rental car or other form of transportation would be required. There is parking available in front of house for free. The service was great. Ani tries to be accomodating and helpful when you need. She lives on the 2nd floor, which is a separate unit, so she is always accessible as well. The place was very roomy and clean. I stayed 6.5 weeks and there weren't too many things I would complain about. One thing to keep in mind is that you are staying at a house and not a hotel. There are mosquitos. It gets really loud at night when it rains (I should say it pours). You will hear the famous puerto rico frogs at nights. It gets hot and the aC is pretty loud as well. Luckily, I'm not a light sleeper so some of these things didn't bother me too much but if you're not, you may have trouble sleeping. Other than that, it's a nice place to stay at an affortable rate. Have fun!

Response from the owner I remember Jin, she worked for a postal company and also her mother who came to spend some days with her. They where very nice persons and nothing that I can compalin about only the repellent they liked to used (the one that has to be burn and has a very strong smell; but I bought them some insect spray and off repelent for them; so they could be prepared for the tropic. Puerto Rico is a tropical island and there are going to be mosquitos in any place where there are no screens or full glass windows and doors. The house has screens on all windows and doors but if you leave the screen open, mosquitos will go inside. The Coqui, which is the famous puertorican frog, is part of our fauna and our tropic. This little frog only lives in PR and in Hawaii; some people think they are something exotic (I even have had guests that have found coqui's around and have taken pictures of them. They really sound like if you were in the jungle!!!) but others just dont like the sound; for if you think you wont like them, if you come to PR bring or buy some ear "plugs" at Walgreens or any other pharmacy, once you are here (I mean, what you put in your ears when you dont want to hear noises).
