Description
Set in the heart of Vienne, just a few hundred metres from the lovely Charente River Le Magnou offers the perfect holiday in a part of Rural South West France which remains completely unspoiled.
Far enough south to enjoy a lovely warm climate and yet after just 5 hours driving from the Channel coast you can be relaxing on the terrace or by the pool.
We will provide essential provisions for your arrival and of course a bottle of local wine – nicely chilled to welcome you.
Whether you like walking, cycling, exploring the local markets and Brocantes or just relaxing on the terrace Le Magnou will be your perfect retreat. Shopping in the wonderful boutiques in Poitier or Angouleme, taking a day out to the harbour or great beaches near La Rochelle, visiting the many interesting attractions like Futurescope or the Vallee-des-Singes, the choice is yours – but what better place to return to for that evening barbecue.
Le Magnou has one double bedroom, an en-suite family room with double bed and a mezzanine with one double and one single bed, one single room with bunk beds and 2 further mezzanines with 3 single beds. There are 2 family bathrooms with bath and shower and a further shower room in addition to the en-suite, 2 kitchens and a lovely dining room. (there is also a sofa bed in the dining room)
From the large gardens and orchard pick the fruit and vegetables when in season.
Le Magnou was originally designed so that we could have 2 separate situations - "The House" and "The Gite" - but we have discovered that the vast majority of guests prefer the privacy of sole occupancy and as a result we now only offer the whole property but with a sliding scale of charges depending on the number of guests. We also offer great deals for the months of May, June, September and October. We also provide Airport Transfer and Car Hire for those guests flying into Poitier or Limoges.

“Wonderful relaxing rural french life”
Mum, Dad, three children and two grandparents sought to taste rural France. We were recommended Le Magnou and booked for May half term. From booking to travelling, accomodation and exploring we found Paul extremely welcoming and helpful. Le magnou, itself is home from home and as such we began to relax as soon as we arrived. Everthing was provided, a welcome bottle of wine, homemade tart and wood for the fire, I cannot think of anything amiss. The rural setting was very quiet with the surrounding areas great for walks especially by the Charente river. The garden is huge and secure, with a surperb swimming pool. Great for occupying three children. Good access to local supermarket and boulangerie approx ten minutes drive will provide all the sustinance required, as this is really great destination for a party that would like to eat, drink, play and above all relax. For those ready to explore Civray is a lovely local town, with a wonderul church. Otherwise we recommend La Rochelle, Poitiers and Angouleme as places further afield.

“Fantastic holiday destination!”
We were recommended by friends to visit Le Magnou and we certainly weren't disappointed. My husband and I had our daughter who was 18 months old and then we had some other friends who also stayed at the property whilst we were there. Le Magnou is very well catered for families - it has everything you need for a small family and is very child friendly (the pool is very well fenced off etc). The property lends itself well to having other friends stay there as well as each section of the house has its own bathroom facilities and seating areas. The area around Le Magnou is beautiful and you can hire a car from the property which enables you to go out and about and explore. We will certainly be visiting this property again in the future!
