“Lovely, comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting!”
Our group of five women loved this cottage in the beautiful Lake District of England. We had everything we needed and especially liked the separate dining room, the lovely patio area, laundry facilities and the well-appointed kitchen. It was within easy walking distance of bus routes and the center of the lovely town of Keswick. Steep stairs to bedrooms might be a problem for disabled or older travelers, and WiFi would have been helpful, but our overall experience was an excellent one, and I'd highly recommend this property.
“so far away from boston, yet, when we entered it felt like ho”
it was perfect for us. the furnishings and all the equipment were thoughtfully planned. we just loved gable cottage!!! the marshalls
“Great house in excellent location”
The house was very clean and tidy when we arrived. It was in an excellent location to visit the town and go for walks around Derwentwater so we didn't need to use the car much. Restaurants and small food shops were nearby. All the electric facilities in the house worked properly although the showers sometimes gave cold water if other taps/showers were running in the house at the same time but this was a minor problem. Leaflets of local attractions and walks were provided which was brilliant. Overall an excellent and comfortable cottage.
This is the 2nd year in a row that I have taken my Father and my two sons to Keswick for a week's holiday. Keswick is a great location to explore the lakes and has a good selection of restaurants. Gable Cottage was just perfect for us -less than 5 minutes from the centre and the local park and a 10 minute walk to Derwent Water. The property is not a cottage but a full sized house, with large rooms and everything you need to make it feel like a home away from home - comfortable beds, dishwasher, washing machine, good sized flat screen TV with DVD player. Will be aiming to book a week here again in 2014.
Will not elaborate on various aspects of this rental as i feel it is suffice to say we were absolutely delighted with the cottage, and very much hope we will return.
“Well equipped and comfortable house”
The house was very clean and well equipped! The house owners always replied quickly to our emails and queries. It was good to be central in Keswick. It was a good base to go back to after a long day of walking!
“Well located Keswick terrace with excellent accommodation & faci”
We loved the accommodation, comfortable, clean and well provided with post walking relaxation. Great location for Keswick town centre restaurants and browsing / shopping. We used the lake ferries and related high and low level walks. We also had a great trip to the Whinlatter forest for Mountain Biking.
“Comfortable Stay in a wonderful setting”
Many thanks for a lovely stay in a comfortable cottage, in a great location. We'll be back!!
“Could not ask for anything better”
From the first e-mail nothing was too much trouble. The house was scrupulously clean and every time we needed to use something, we knew it would be in the house somewhere. Providing dishwasher tablets and washing powder was such a welcome bonus. It is at a good distance from the centre of town - just far enough away that there was always a parking space just outside the house (even during Jubilee half-term week), but close enough for a 5-minute stroll. We will definitely be using this house again.
“Our stay was hassel-free, interesting, and enjoyable.”
The cottage was as described. The notebook with earlier visitors comments was very helpful. We appreciated the little things, not always found in self-catering units, such as plenty of toilet tissue and soap to get started. All the appliances were satisfactory. Keswick is a good location to tour the Lake District from. I appreciated being able to pay by personal check. This was my best self-catering experience (out of about a half-dozen over the last two decades).
