There isn't enough room here to describe the wonderful experience we have at Le Petit-Manoir. The Kowaliks are incredible hosts, they seem to instinctively know what your needs and wants might be. We knew the Dordogne Valley would be beautiful but had no idea there was so much to do. We barely scratched the surface and can't wait to return. The individual guest houses on the property are very well planned and laid out. From parking to house access your privacy is insured, but the Kowaliks are always available just across the garden. Every room was immaculate from bathroom to lines. Well done you made our 25th anniversary spectacular!
“Idyllic home away from home”
We had the privilege of spending an entire month at Le Petit Manoir. After much research, we decided it would be the perfect place for our long visit and it was everything we had expected and more. Karen and Peter are the quintessential hosts: helpful, accommodating, and genuinely concerned with their guests comfort and needs. While we wanted to experience the Dordogne, we also wanted those comforts of home and were so grateful for the Wifi and the satellite TV. The kitchen is extremely well-stocked, the beds wonderfully comfortable, and the house stays remarkably cool in the heat of august. The spot is ideal for visiting all the Dordogne has to offer. Indeed, spending a month there, we explored many places and everything we wanted to see was within easy reach. The pool was a major attraction and was always kept clean and nice. Karen and Peter go way above and beyond to make sure that everything is as close to perfect as possible for your stay. I saw them do that with the other guests who came and went and experienced it first hand during our month long stay. In fact, at one point, it was just me and the kids (my husband was gone) and Karen made an extra effort to check in with me and make sure all was well. For these, and many more reasons that I do not have the space to share, I cannot recommend Le Petit Manoir highly enough.
“Exceeded our already high expectations”
The location is idyllic:in the country but close to the River, Sarlat and the castles. The furnishings and fixtures are high quality and the grounds are green and manicured daily by the energetic and friendly owners: Karen and Peter. We liked best just relaxing outside our unit after a day of hiking listing to the birds and watching the sunset over the green hills in the distance. We liked least that we couldn't walk to a bakery in Vitrac, we had to drive 10 minutes to excellent bakeries in Cenac.
“effortless check-in and a relaxed ,beautiful, week in the garden”
I realise that it is perhaps strange to think that a good check-in is important but it really can set the tone for a week with 3 young children. Everything was shown to us by Karen quickly and clearly so that we were not left wondering how on earth some appliance worked whilst the children sqawked for their dinner. She had the place all ready for us to just fall in to our beds and wake up the next morning to the stunning Dordogne region. With less house hold fussing needed we just relaxed in their gardens, (also child friendly) and saw all the sites before returning to a warm, quiet ,spacious home where we all slept peacefully. The children did not love all of our six week tour of France as it is often hard work ,but this place made it effortless and so they just loved it, as did I. Heather
“Relaxing retreat in rural idyll.”
Karen and Peter were the most gracious and welcoming hosts for our weeks holiday at Le Petit Manoir. Always on hand to answer any of our questions/requests - nothing was ever too much trouble. The gite complex is beautiful and the internal spec is very high being extremely clean and comfortable with everything you could possibly need. We found the gite to be set in beautiful gardens with lovely views. We enjoyed playing ping pong in the early evenings and taking walks during the day. It is not often that we come away from one weeks holiday feeling relaxed and rejuvenated however on this occasion we have. We had the most wonderful holiday. Our hosts, quality of the gite and a most fabulous location will ensure our return next year.
“Perfect site for vacation - super gite in gorgious surrounding”
If one likes to cook alot then we would recommend to make reservation for Le Bois or Le Pommier; for us the kitchen in Le Rosier was very well equiped, but to small for multiple people; to be able to have all meals in the wonderful garden with a perfect setup of outside table and sun umbrella, then helped to get over this tiny disadvantage of a smaller kitchen :-); for our dog this vacation location was like heaven - she liked forte, the dog of the hosts and the area of the site is very spacious; additionally there are many very good indicated hiking trails that we walked with the dog; dog and kid got mad on canoeing and swimming on/in the Dordogne - this was vaction deluxe for all family members.
“Extremely well equipped accomodation in a great location”
Very clean and well sized rooms with a nice rural character. Kitchen has everything you could need and more. The large fridge came in handy and the kids made good use of the satellite TV, pool and table tennis while we were sorting things out. Good privacy outside with a barbeque for the evenings. Very friendly hosts who go to a lot of effort to ensure you are comfortable. Easy access to plenty of great places including Sarlat and Domme, and there is canoing just down the road in Vitrac.
“Very comfortable accommodation in a gorgeous location.”
My husband and I stayed at Le Petit-Manoir for one week and really enjoyed the lovely location, wide open space and the proximity to a wide variety of attractions. Karen and Peter were wonderful hosts and on hand to help at all times. Would love to return.
“A Great Find in a Great area”
We have had a wonderful stay! We biked, canoed, walked and saw a lot. The cottage was just what we needed- a perfect kitchen, bedrooms, and outside eating area. We could not have asked for more. Karen and Peter, we so appreciate all of your help and friendship. If you are ever in the Northwest we would love to share our island with you. Sincerely, Dana and Cindy, Chris and Mike
“Le Petit Manoir is the perfect vacation retreat.”
Karen and Peter are excellent hosts. They are attentive to their guests' needs and go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. The pride that they take in their property is evident with the clean accommodations, manicured lawns and sparkling pool and what a beautiful part of France. We took longs walk down the country road at sunset, had busy shopping days in the city, and toured many points of interest along the way. We will always remember our visit to Sarlat!!
