We really enjoyed our stay and the accommodations were great for a family of five. Easy to get to the slopes and the unit was well outfitted. Everyone at Moving Mountains was great!
Response from the manager We are delighted to get this wonderful feedback! We look forward to seeing you all again soon in Steamboat. Robin Craigen Owner / President Moving Mountains
I have been 6 times before in Steamboat. But this week was the best experience that I have had in any travel with my sons. The snow, the unit that we rented is beautiful, the location and the view are perfect. I live in Venezuela, and for me is a long travel, but I am absolutely sure that we will be in Steamboat again the in 2014.
Response from the manager We are very pleased to hear that find Moving Mountain brought you to your best ever experience here. We look forward to helping you with your stay in 2014! Robin Craigen, Owner / President
“Prime ski in / ski out location.”
Outstanding location just a few hundred yards up from the gondola. A short walk down the hill after hot tubing in one of two tubs or pool to the village for great dining at the Truffle Pig, (five stars). Steam room in the master shower was so nice in the mornings to get the ski muscles stretched out. Overall the unit was really very nice, the stone work on the 25 foot tall hearth in the central living area was beautiful and serves as the focal point of the whole room. The lack of privacy when using the commode in the open master bathroom plan may be a little awkward for some couples. The parking slots leave about 2 inches between posts for a suburban vehicle. Overall this is a top notch unit.
Response from the manager We are pleased to hear this location and amenities worked for you. It is definitely the nicest and newest in the building as it was remodeled recently. We look forward to your return Robin Craigen, Owner / President
“Great condo with with no view”
Overall our stay was enjoyable and ski in/ski out feature was awesome; however, my only request when booking through Moving Mountains was that we be on the ski slopes - not a parking lot away. Not only were we not on the slopes, we couldn't see the slopes from this condo. That was the only negative aspect of our stay there. Beautiful condo, easy to get to lifts and gondola.
Response from the manager Thank you very much for taking time to review our property. I'm sorry there was miscommunication on your initial request/inquiry form. At the time of your reservation, we had very little remaining to offer and the only thing denoted was it must be ski-in, ski-out. This residence is ski-in, ski-out, just 100 steps from the slopes. Unfortunately, there is no Internationally agreed upon definition for "ski-in, ski-out" but Steamboat uses the guidelines of within 400 yards and no additional transportation, such as a shuttle. Likewise, not all ski-in, ski-out actually have views of the slopes. We have an identical residence to this called Montroc, which DOES have gondola/slope views, is in the same building, so not directly on the slopes and is considered ski-in, ski-out. Slope side is a different criteria. We hope you will return to Steamboat and next year I would suggest booking a bit earlier and securing one of our Edgemont Residences as they ALL have slope views and the building is literally on the slopes, which sounds like you prefer. “Overpriced, Noisy street”
I have to say I was disappointed in the Chamonix. From looking at the photos and the price point, I expected much more. The location was on a loud street. We happened to be at the condo all day one day as one of my children was sick, so I experienced first hand the noise level. Too much if you are sensitive to that as i am. The condo was nicely furnished, but I found it to be a bit "cold" and I wouldn't return personally. The couch was uncomfortable, no flat screen Tv's, and I was not impressed with the location.
Response from the manager It is true to say that a condo in the heart of the ski village will experience the hustle and bustle of shuttle traffic and people skiing during the day and this is a different experience to that of staying on one of our private vacation rental homes. Of course there are plusses - the ski-in/ski-out location and the value that Chateau Chamonix offers for luxury slopeside accommodations is unrivaled in Steamboat. It's a trade-off. As this guest described - the condo is beautifully furnished, but it's a condo, and as such is different from one of our homes. We can offer both to meet your needs.
“Great Stay, Great experience”
The unit is actually 50 yards from the slopes, and the hot tub is in the middle of the parking lot. Still, those are the only dings I have against this place. This was a guys trip, so all we did in the great kitchen was use the microwave for popcorn and leftovers, uncork wine, and wash off flasks that we filled with rum or brandy. I'm sure if I stayed with my family, my wife would have loved how well stocked the kitchen was, including zip lock bags. I stayed in the master bedroom and loved the steam shower. A great way to fight the nosebleeds I get with the dry mountain air. Other buddies had no complaints with their rooms and bathrooms. The disposable slippers are a nice touch along with the robes in each room. I'm sure they would have come in handy if we ventured out to the hot tub. Great room has a fireplace, stereo, TV and DVD player. There was even a copy of the movie Inception, great flick! Nice big deck that gives partial mountain/slope views. Washer and dryer in unit helps you pack light, detergent is in the unit. Plenty of towels supplied. We even had a mid-stay cleaning on a 5 night stay. Only used the shuttle 1 evening. The driver was great, letting us stop at the liquor store first, then drove us to dinner. He even stayed late to pick us back up and take us home that night. The staff at Moving Mountains was great. No need for a long drawn out check-in or checkout. We were even able to get an early check in and late checkout. That might not always be available, but it worked well for our group. Overall, we had a great time even without using everything we had access to. This place is worth the money.
“holiday of a lifetime which took a few items of the bucket list!”
Wonderful Holiday highly highly recommended. Apart from the wonderful in and out skiing were able to tick several things of our bucket list including Sleigh ride, Dog sledding, snow mobiling etc we had kids from 9 - 24 with us and lots to do for everyone was a joy and would give serious consideration to going back next year...
