“There's no place like seashell cottage!!!”
If I were reading reviews for possible rentals,I would look for reviews of return visitors. That is just what this is. May 2013,my husband and I made our fifth week long return visit, and have made our reservations for two weeks in May 2014. We return every year, and have never had any problems or concerns. We have been coming to Key West for the past 15 years. Since finding Seashell Cottage,we don't even consider staying anywhere else. It is amazing in a few minutes you can walk the short distance to the main street(Duval Street) and be in the middle of all the Key West activities. Or-you can sit on the front porch in the swing and be greeted by friendly neighbors(most of whom are permanent residence); or,you can enjoy the hammock or hot tub on the back deck and be in your own secluded paradise surrounded by lush foliage and privacy fencing. There is only a couple of things I can add to the other reviews. How wonderful it is to have off street parking. Not available at most accomadations in Key West. Park right beside your front door, and be within walking distance to most anything you want to do.Free parking in Key West is pretty much nonexistent. And, the safety of the location. We enjoy walking, and have never once felt unsafe anytime of the day or night. We have been known to leave the cottage at midnight and walk through the surrounding neighborhoods to Sandy's Cafe on White Street to get Cuban sandwiches and coffee. Carolyn and Wendi will do anything in their power to make your stay a pleasant and relaxing vacation. Because of them, all you have to do is pack your clothes and come to the Cottage. They take care of all the details right down to the fresh cut flowers on the kitchen table. I guess I need to mention,we have had one problem. The last couple of days are spent being depressed that our visit is almost over. We are never ready to leave. I could go on and on, but I think by now you get the message --we love seashell cottage!!!
Response from the owner What a sweet love note regarding the Seashell Cottage and Key West. Your enthusiasm makes our efforts worthwhile and we always look forward to your return. Thank you for taking the time to submit this beautifully written and thoughtful review. Warm regards, Carolyn and Wendi
“A Perfect Vacation Cottage”
We were so glad we stayed at the Seashell Cottage. The location is excellent and it was very clean. Nice and roomy---plenty of space for the two of us. Having a full-size kitchen and gas grill was great. We had coffee every morning on the patio--very nice and relaxing and so private. We would highly recommend the cottage!
Response from the owner We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We enjoyed having you as guests. Thank you taking such good care of the cottage and for taking the time to write this review! Warm regards, Carolyn and Wendi
We had a great time here. Carolynn give us personal recommendations of local parks and beaches. The house was well stocked, and we loved the outdoor shower. The house was clean and nicely decorated. This is a great location for families. Close enough to walk to Duval street and all the festivities, but it is nice and quiet. Overall, we loved it and would love to come back!
Response from the owner Thank you for your unsolicited review! Your family is highly commended as guests. Wendi and I would be pleased for you to return! Carolyn
“The cottage was warm, comfortable, clean and relaxing.”
We genuinely enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It gave us a chance for much needed relaxation. The location is ideal. The kitchen is well equipped, we both enjoy cooking and did so several evenings. We had friends in town who were staying at a time share, they were very impressed with our accommodations. The hot tub and outdoor shower add to the appeal of the cottage. My only recommendation would be to add one more comfortable chair in the living room.
Response from the owner Thank you so much. So pleased you enjoyed yourselves! I'll work on the idea of how to get another large comfortable chair in the living room. The recliner that's there would probably like to have a mate! Warm regards, Carolyn
“The Little Touches”
At the risk of sounding cliche, the Seashell Cottage was like a home away from home for us...it was our private, secluded little space just steps from Duval... The cottage is adorable and the location can't be beat, but the thing that struck us was the little touches that Carolyn and Wendi provide...things like skewers for the grill and a coffee grinder in the kitchen...a stack of delivery/take out menus for when I didn't feel like using the skewers :-) ...the family pass to Ft Zach and the beach chairs to use there...they may not seem like much, but all of these things made our visit incredibly comfortable... The cottage itself is clean, bright and airy...the cottage and back deck are well secured...wifi works great...for someone who enjoys cooking as much as I do, the fully equipped kitchen was delightful... Now, please don't tell anyone about the Seashell Cottage...they just might take it when we want to!
“Stop looking for a place to stay, this is the best on Key West!”
For our honeymoon we decided to go to Key West for a week and neither of us had ever been so we were unfamiliar with the island. We didn't want to stay at the run-of-the-mill hotel so we started researching and found the Sea Shell Cottage. Boy did we hit the jack pot!!! I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful the place was! So charming, so romantic, so convenient. You are close enough to Duval Street where all the action is on a nightly basis but far away enough that you don't hear the party at night if you want to stay in. My suggestion would be to rent scooters (otherwise you have to pay to park the electric cars) and explore the island. Wendi and Carolyn are so helpful; you can tell they take pride in their properties. They provided maps, discount coupons for dining, drinking and local attractions and a family beach pass for free! The outdoor shower is awesome! We didn't take a shower in doors the whole time we were there! They only bad thing about the experience was us leaving. :( If you are going to Key West and need a place to stay, I promise you friends you will not be disappointed with the Sea Shell Cottage.
