“Great Location and Quaint House”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2014

This house delivered on everything that was promised on the website and previous reviews. The town is small and very quiet. We enjoyed the exploring the town, its restaurant is great and the great views from the city walls. The house provided a great starting point for all our day adventures. We enjoyed having access to a kitchen and being able to cook for ourselves several times. We spent several hours a day sitting in the kitchen planning on next adventure. Being in the house made you feel like you were truly experiencing Italy. The bed was very firm. A lot different from what we are used to but we did not choose this house based on the bed comfort. If the comfort of the bed is extremely important to you, I would contact the owners for more information.

“The perfect place to stay and relax in Tuscany!”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

We stayed 2 weeks at lovely Casina di Rosa located in a quaint, small hill town called Civitella Marittima. After 10 hectic, noisy days in Rome, we welcomed the peace and quiet of our cosy little casina. Gloria and Marcel are wonderful hosts and Casina di Rosa comes equipped with absolutely everything you need for a perfect vacation in beautiful Tuscany! Personal touches abound, like the generous welcome basket, vase with fresh pink roses and house book which contains all the information you need. The king size bed is very comfortable and we never ran out of hot water for our showers. We love to cook and were very happy that the kitchen came with everything we needed to prepare nice meals. The great thing about Casina di Rosa is its location. You are a one hour drive from all the major sites like Siena, Montalcino, Volterra, Vetulonia, Chianti and the sandy beaches near Grosseto. Civitella Marittima has two wonderful bakeries, a butcher, convenience store, great lookouts for sunrise and sunset views, and one excellent restaurant "La Locanda nel Cassero". We ate there three times and highly recommend it! If you love wine hire Carlo for the day. He drove us to three exceptional local wineries which we would not have discovered on our own. Gloria and Marcel thank you for making our stay at your lovely Casina so memorable. If you visit Tuscany as a couple, we cannot think of a better or more romantic place to stay!

“We felt so comfortable and 'at home'- a beautiful experience!”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2013

Staying at Casina di Rosa was a wonderful experience myself and my traveling companions will never forget, and hope to do again. It is a cozy, spotless, peaceful, beautiful space obviously meant to make travelers feel at home. Everything was lovely. We enjoyed having a fully equipped kitchen at times when we did not want to go out to eat, but stay in- relax and enjoy local specialties from the area. The village is charming and there is everything one would need within a short walk. Gloria and Marcel are warm and welcoming and always available for help if you need it...just absolutely lovely people. We were 3 ladies in the villa and were perfectly comfortable. The ambiance of the villa and where it is located defies description-the vistas are amazing. The village is located in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen. I cannot imagine staying in and being as comfortable in a hotel after this experience. Also, it is so centrally located and easy to access all of Tuscany and surrounding areas from there. I cannot say enough about it. We are back home in the us and all of us a bit 'homesick' for Civitella Marittima and Casina di Rosa.

“Excellent vacation in a beautiful villa”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2013

We had wonderful time travelling around Tuscany and staying in the beautiful villa. We had everything we could possibly need in the house and all the additional useful travel information was provided. The villa is extremely clean and cosy. It was really a wonderful experience for us and we look forward to being guests of the house again someday.

“you have just found the ideal cottage in a perfect tuscan mounta”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2013

Casina di Rosa is a rental that you will want to linger at for much longer than you have planned on staying and a cottage you'll want to come back to. The care given to providing everything needed for one to feel perfectly at home and at ease is part of what make this booking so nice, but you can also count on little unexpected graces that put it over the top. The cottage is prefect for a single quest or couple who want to get a feel for what life in a small old hilltop village is really like. Civitella Marittima is the quintisencial Tuscan town. You will come to love the character of the shops, people, restaurants and market day. This just makes all the places you can easily visit from this home base all that much nicer. If you stay here you will have no shortage of things to do and see. Do your self a favor and secure your booking for Casina di Rosa, now! You will not regret it, so much nicer than a hotel.

“This Place Is Pure Magic”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2013

Casina di Rosa is not just a place to stay in beautiful Southern Tuscany, it and the small hilltop village of Civitella Marittima are truly pure magic. When you stay here, you will have an experience that you will not forget. We spent two weeks here and celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. The owners of the property and many of the residents of Civitella have become true friends that we shall hold close to our hearts forever. The home was very warm and felt like our home every day when we returned from exploring the beautiful Tuscan countryside. This is a very good location to visit some of the most memorable places you will ever travel to. There are wineries, abbeys, fruit and olive orchards and thermal springs. For us, some of our fondest memories will come from the small villages that very few tourists have ever even found. Just pick a dot on the map and go there and you will see. Casina di Rosa is not just a house to stay at, it is a true romantic Tuscan experience. But, don't tell anyone; it will be our secret.

“Perfect place for two in the heart of Tuscany”

Reviewed 28 May 2013

I would highly recommend Casina di Rosa to any couple wishing to explore central/southern Tuscany and experience life in a tiny Tuscan village. Gloria and Marcel are gracious and welcoming hosts and their rental home is very well equipped and maintained. This place is perfect for any couple (or couple w/ young child) that does not need a sprawling villa with a veranda and swimming pool but simply wants a cozy place to call their own in a quiet Medieval village. The village of Civitella Marittima is charming and well located for all sorts of forays into the Tuscan countryside. It is also close to many famous (and not-so-famous but still fascinating) hill towns, and even to the beaches and coastal towns of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Plus, the village itself is fun to explore: be sure to visit the two friendly bakeries as well as the wonderful local restaurant, Locanda nel Cassero. Tip: Bring a laptop if you don't have a smartphone and need Internet access -- the connection is currently made via a USB drive that is not compatible with iPads.

Response from the owner Thank you very much for this amazing review! We are humbled! Just wanted to add that we have requested the activation of an adsl line, so wifi internet access should be available for our guests very soon, and for free! :)

“Great spot for discovering Tuscany!”

Reviewed 28 May 2013

Just returned from our 5 weeks holiday in Italy, spent our first two weeks at Casina di Rosa, and what a fantastic start to an amazing holiday in the Tuscan/Umbria /Liguria areas . Gloria and Marcel did a great job setting up this villa for their guests, it was indeed a home away from home. Every little comfort was catered for - the huge fluffy bath towel , the biscoti , the chocolates, a bot of local wine and a kitchen equipped with the basics (+ spices) for cooking a simple meal. We tried most of the restaurants recommended and they were all good especially "Le Merlaie" (5mins drive away) and Locanda nel Cassero (right in the mid of the village), both where we dined twice , and Ristorante " I Tre Cantoni" where they specialised dishes with truffle - I can still smell the wonderful smell of truffle. Wish we could have gone back for more but there are so many little medieval towns to explore and food to experience and Civitella Marittima is within 45 minutes or so (including time for getting lost :-) ) from many in the area and two weeks was not quite enough to explore plus a couple of days just to relax in Casina di Rosa - which is a must to absorb the ambiance of this gorgeous little village. A wonderful 'Bucket list' experience.

“The Highlight of Our Italy Trip”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2012

My husband and I spent 6 wonderful days in Casina di Rosa. Tucked in the small village (of ard 300 residents) of Civitella Marittima, this home is not only cosy, it is fully equipped. We had things from the basic tea and coffee to herbs and olive oil! Just buy your own fresh food and you're ready to go. There's a washing machine, clothes line, pegs, and etc, everything you need to do your laundry. The villagers are friendly and did I mention the local restaurant serve fantastic food at very reasonable prices? The location is good for anyone that doesn't wish to stay in the tourist regions. Abt 90 mins to Florence and 60 mins to Siena. The only downside is you have to get used to the Italian-style driving. By the way, if you dun want to handle the traffic, do check out more abt the buses that goes to Siena or Florence. We spent over 2 weeks in Italy and being in Civitella was definitely the highlight. Thank you Marcel and Gloria, for the wonderful house and the thoughtfulness put into it.
