“Destination Relaxation!”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2015

What a location...breathtaking! After a seamless transfer from the airport, we drove through the colourful town and harbour, to Dream Cove...and the name says it all. We knew from friends that the setting was beautiful, but we weren't really prepared for the the stunning outlook and the total serenity of the Boat House. It was much more than I had imagined. Every care to detail made our stay a memorable one....from the bottle of Champagne ( yes French) in the refrigerator, to the fresh flowers scattered throughout the cottage. Rosie and Steven made great suggestion about supplies and places to go for dinner, but honestly, we didn't even feel like leaving our idyllic surroundings!! There was a little bad weather, but that didn't dampen our spirits as we watched the force of nature from the huge covered deck. We would happily return to this magic fact I might take a look at dates today!

“A private paradise”

Reviewed 2 Feb 2015

We stayed at The Boat House for a week in December and it was absolute bliss! Having travelled to Vanuatu many times, this place is by far the most unique, beautiful and memorable place we have stayed. Set in beautiful Dream Cove, The Boat House has quite possibly the best private beach in Port Vila. From the moment you enter the property, the tropical gardens transport you to a place of total privacy and tranquility. The property has been styled so beautifully that you immediately feel a sense of serenity. It is not often that you find a place that has been decorated so thoughtfully that you just feel happy seeing every gorgeous detail and artful expression. Wow! Thank you for such a memorable experience. The Boat House is now among one of my most favourite destinations and we will most certainly be back!

“Chillax to the max!! Bliss!!”

Wow....this is just a beautiful little slice of paradise. The Boathouse is a gorgeous experience from start to finish, from arriving you are instantly drawn down the garden path to the beautiful beach, seriously we have never stayed anywhere where you have your own reef literally in front of your house. The water is warm and calm, and the place is quite close to town yet also really serene, lovely birdsong. The house itself is also very cute and comfortable, and so quiet. Have a wander through the garden to see all the beautiful flowers too. We came here for a week of R&R and it was just heaven. Stock up at the local supermarket as once you arrive it's really blissful to just kick your shoes off and chill out - swims & snorkles, sleeps, paddles to the nearby resorts if you fancy breakky/lunch out, but for dinner most nights we just cooked sangers on the barby down on the beach with a bottle of wine - what more could you ask. Would thoroughly recommend for families, singles or couples who want a great place to relax, beautiful scenery literally on your doorstep....just chill out and bask in the place :)

“Tropical seclusion”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2015

We stayed at the Boathouse in August 2014 for 10 nights and had the most wonderful and truly memorable stay. The aspects we loved most about the house and it's grounds was just about everything! We particularly loved the seclusion of the house and the fact that the only people we might see in a day would be our lovely house lady, maybe the gardener or visiting snorkelers exploring the beautiful reef right out front of the Boathouse – the Boathouse is really the perfect stay if you want total seclusion. Often times, we have stayed in self-contained accommodation, where there is always something missing – this wasn’t the case with the Boathouse…well perhaps mesh screening to the windows to keep bugs out, is the only thing we can think of. The lush grounds are very beautiful and so we spent most of our time out on the lovely lawns or down on the beach front playing on the sand with our toddler. We would arrange any transport needs with Willie, an extremely friendly and knowledgeable local guy, so that we could get into town most mornings to purchase some ultra-fresh local produce from the markets, go for coffee, explore Port Vila – we loved being able to do this knowing we would return to our tropical hideaway for the remainder of the day. The manager Kris, is super helpful and went to great lengths to make our stay so memorable. We think about our stay at the Boathouse very often and look forward to returning soon! “Your own private Resort in Vanuatu”

Reviewed 21 Dec 2014

The Boathouse is just a fantastic place and a wonderful location, the snorkelling just off the house is very good, plenty of regenerating coral, fish a plenty, even the odd sea snake which was very cool to see. The write up of the boathouse is understated, when you do get there it is true you just don't want to leave the place, we only went out for dinner once and preferred to have dinner at the house or down on the beach in front of the house. The garden is just right, very tidy and tropical and the local guy who looks after it is a good man . The staff are all very friendly and a special mention for Willie, he is a true ambassador for the boathouse and Vanuatu. Of all the special places I have stayed at over many years the Boathouse is up at the top of my list with La Sagesse in Grenada in the Caribbean. We are already discussing when we can get back there next winter with our girls this time. I marked the kitchen and utensils as bit lacking however I contacted Steven the owner when we got back and he has replaced everything we suggested and even went further and fixed the kitchen bench top which was a bit tired. If you are considering The Boathouse don't hesitate too long or it will book up fast, every time I checked suitable dates they were gone so I had to book the Boathouse and then sort out my flights later!

“Picture Perfect”

Reviewed 18 Dec 2014

For our first Vanuatu holiday we have searched the internet extensively to find the best possible accommodation, and we have found it! It is the Boat House in Dreamcove. We have spent 10 truly wonderful days there. The Boat house exceeded all of our expectations. The location is perfect so close to everything and still provides maximum privacy. We fell in love with the place on day one. The surrounding garden is huge and it is meticulously maintained, full of tropical charm. The house is very charming, tastefully decorated. Huge and comfortable, it can easily accommodate a family or two couples as it has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house is well equipped with everything you might possibly need. The terrace is very inviting, huge dining table, comfy chairs and couches. Even on a rainy day it is lovely to sit outside with a glass of wine and reading a book. The best part of this property is the beach setting and the beautiful very private beach. The outdoor setting with the day beds, sunbeds, bean bags, outdoor fire place and dining set on the beach in the sand is just fantastic. The real bonus is that the best snorkeling spot is right in front of the Boat house. Amazing corals and abundance of fish. We love snorkeling and been to Rarotonga, Tonga, Aitutaki but we found that Vanuatu was the best in terms of snorkeling. We have hired a small 4wd from Franko (Franko Car Rental) the car was perfect for us and Franko gave us a really good deal and good friendly service. We didn't go to many places, as staying in the boat house, snorkeling on the beach seemed like the best activity. There are good restaurants nearby, we have tried a few, but cooking in the boathouse was very easy, it is well equipped and has a BBQ as well. You can buy everything in the supermarket and the fruit and vege market is fantastic. We went to the Blue Lagoon and Mele Cascades, both of them is an amazing place, fully recommended. We really enjoyed Vanuatu and planning to go back again in the near future but this time we don't have to search the internet we already know that the best accommodation is The Boat House.

“Stylish simplicity”

Reviewed 16 Feb 2014

This place was simply incredible! The Boat House reinforces everything you would hope for when staying at a private tropical paradise getaway. The home is incredibly well setup and oozes style and charm with great cooking facilities, lovely books to read, an array of Dvd's, a great outside dining area and plenty of places to plonk your self with a good book. With incredible privacy, you felt as though you were a million miles from anywhere, however, amazing restaurants and bars were only an 10 minute drive away. Our days were spent kayaking, snorkeling, reading, playing with our toddler on the large garden and lawn and private white sand beach. In the evenings we relaxed on the wooden deck literally on the beach and sat in front of the open fireplace overlooking the sunset and crystal clear water. With Parents who run successful holiday houses in NZ I know what quality is, this was simply one of the best holidays ever, and look forward to coming again.

“A very special paradise...”

What a beautiful paradise! The Boathouse has everything you need and more! This is my pick of places to stay in Vanuatu, its stylish and charming all at the same time. The beach fire is apparently a new addition to this gorgeous spot, there is nothing better than watching the sunset beside this beach fire with friends and family. We had such a wonderful stay...and will be returning!

Stayed at the Boathouse in November 2013, deciding to get away from the resorts and hotels. Whilst a little bit tentative about being out of town (5 minute drive), they were dispelled as soon as we opened the doors from the lounge to see the beautiful chrystal clear water, right there at our doorstep (maybe 20metres!!). The house itself was great, and if I did have one thing to say, and it's by no means a reflection of bad, but it was getting humid, and an air con' would have been great. Just a bit uncomfortable at night time. All amenities are there, from a cooktop to a coffee make, an ipod dock to safe town water. The gentle breezes during the day were great, and unfortunately that left as night descended, so the ceiing fans were going flat out. The gardens, the beachfront deck (with bean bags), and total feeling of security was great, with an option of contacting the next door neighbour if we needed help. But without doubt, the best memory of all, was the snorkelling, straight from the deck, with thousands of fish, making it a memorable holiday not only for us as parents, but our 12 year old son, who is still raving about it. You do need a car, we used World Cars in town, and they supplied us with a small Suzuki Jimmy 4wd, which is a must as the roads aren't what your used to. Easy to drive around, and the house is in behind large security gates. 9½ out of 10
