“nice apartment, pool access needs improvement.”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2016

Our stay went well. We had a few problems with lights in master bathroom and door to balcony but a very nice repair man came by and was able to fix most of our complaints. The location is great. This is the second time we have stayed in B-32, the fourth time staying in Building B and we love it! The gate to the pool has apparently been replaced in the past year. I have to go down to the pool in a wheelchair, with my husband or son pushing me. The new gate is more difficult to open and to stay open (it has a very strong spring reaction) than the old gate. The opener is at the top, over 5 ft high, I believe and I cannot reach it from my wheelchair. So I have to put my wheel breaks on and hold the wheels because it's on a backward incline, while my pusher steps around me and opens the gate. Then I have to find some way to keep the gate from closing before he gets around to the back of my wheelchair and pushed me through. Could not be more difficult to get through.

Response from the manager We are so glad you enjoyed your second stay with us and that we were able to fix the lights and sliding door. We regret your experience with the pool gate, which will be reported to the Shipyard Village management company. We look forward to having you stay with us again! Thank you for sharing!

“Perfect for seniors”

Reviewed 7 Jul 2015

One of the original buildings at the Litchfield resort - in good shape thanks to conscientious upgrades and maintenance. Unit itself is a one level condo directly across from an elevator. Though not directly oceanside, unit is first from the corner with a good view of the beach and shoreline to the north. All essential amenities for a vacation stay. Major selling point is beach access for the disabled or elderly - unlike other condo buildings on the property (from observation, not completely verified) access to the beach is attained via a series of gradually sloping ramps over the dune to the beach vice an access requiring the negotiation of staircases over the dune.

Response from the manager Thank you for sharing your insightful observations on the excellent condo complex upkeep and the added benefit of having ease of access to both the beach and the single-level condo. WE are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back at the beach soon!

“Litchfield Real Estate is the place to handle your rental needs”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2013

Litchfield By The Sea is a great area to take your family for a relaxing vacation. The beaches are beautiful and the pool at Shipyard Village was great. I was disappointed in the condo. We had stayed at this condo 2 1/2 years ago and the owner has changed nothing since that time. The ice maker in the refrigerator is still not working properly and the kitchen is not all that well equipped. Some of the pots and pans have broken handles and need replaced. There are plenty of dishes and silverware but the cookware definitely needs replaced. Thankfully I brought two of my own large pots "just in case" and I'm glad I did because we needed them to steam shrimp and cook corn. The televisions are very outdated and need replaced. The furniture in the living room also needs updated. A sofa sleeper would be a nice addition. The beds were all very comfortable. The roll of carpet in the closet in the master bedroom should be removed and an ironing board and iron would be nice for vacationers. There is wifi a ail able now, so that is a nice improvement. On a more positive note, the staff at Litchfield Real Estate are awesome. These ladies do everything possible to make the rental process easy and stress free. Their service is superior. We had a couple of maintenance issues and they got a repairman out immediately to resolve the problems. Although Inwoukd not recommend this particular unit to anyone I would absolutely recommend Litchfield Real Estate for rentals. We have rented two other places from them in the past as well as Shipyard Village B32. Service has always been wonderful from these ladies.

Response from the manager Litchfield By The Sea Resort is, as you say, relaxing and beautiful! We are glad to have been instrumental in making your stay easy and stress free! Your detailed comments are helpful and welcome and will be shared with the owners. Oftentimes updates are budgeted in phases so that the improvements that are made are overshadowed by other needs. Sounds like you didn't let any of that stop you from having a good time! Thank you for the comments. We look forward to seeing you back at the beach soon!

“Marvellous ocean view from master bedroom window wall.”

Reviewed 29 May 2012

We enjoyed the comfortable three bedroom two bath condo on the fourth level. The view from the generous window wall in the master bed is magnificent. Minor problems, when reported to Litchfield Real Estate, were promptly and well taken care of by Kim who knew how everything worked. Under the building parking is a plus, except that it was built before Suvs, so careful manoevering was necessary to give room enough for the next side car. The balcony was well furnished and brought us even closer to the ocean. The ramped walk over the beach dune was a real plus; it was being repaired when we left. landscaping and maintenance were top notch. Convenient to several grocery stores, and a real bonus for us, the 'Olli" Osher lifelong learning institute held classes just across Ocean Highway. We enjoyd finding restaurants (Applewood hospitality and staff especially) and other stores, and quality consignment shops. We were surprised there was only the one set of kingsize sheets which were on the bed in the master bed room - none on the shelves. The washer and dryer are getting old and didn't do the best job, although convenient in the unit. The TV in the living room is just too small to view from the living room sofa.We were there for three months, January -March 2012.

Response from the manager We're glad you enjoyed Shipyard Village B32 being your "home away from home" for three months! It really is a comfortable condo, and sounds like it worked beautifully for you! Hope to see you again next winter!

“Not what we signed up for”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2010

Our first condo that was ocean front (small unit not complex) was double booked by Litchfield Reality, which we found out 5 days before we were to leave. They tried to make it right by putting us in this condo (complex 3 large buildings each 5 story) that was suppose to be all new. The carpet and paint was new, nothing else (1990) furniture. Was not ocean front it was the side and the balcony sat over a well lit parking lot- if you looked straight ahead and over the grass you could see the ocean. Fireworks at night was fun, master bed room was nice, TVs were also 1990 -- old and very small- one in living area and one in master bedroom- not good for kids -- they need a TV --in their room. The ice machine in living area in bar was awesome. The closet on first floor was nice with all beach stuff you need. We added to the supply with some crabing crates. We made the best of a situation we did not "pick" out. oh p.s. Construction was happening every day but Sunday starting at 730am - so ask about that ,men on lift trucks looking in balcony and windows painting and spraying

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience in Litchfield and with Litchfield Real Estate. We are so sorry about what happened with the booking and are very glad it sounds like parts of your vacation were good! We always pass along to our owners suggestions and we will do so about the furniture and tvs. We are also very sorry about the "finishing up" construction - we were told by the management company that construction would be completed in early June! We hope you come back again and give us another try!

The vacation we spent at this location was very enjoyable. You would never say or think this was a wasted vacation-- we have had several!! Thanks for a great stay.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to tell us about Shipyard B-32. A vacation isn't supposed to be a waste of time, and we're so pleased you think your vacations here haven't been! Please come back to the beach soon!

“Wonderful vacation”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2009

We love Litchfield-by-the-Sea and wish we could visit every year. Our unit in Shipyard Village, B-32, comfortably accomodated my wife and myself, plus my son Mike's family of four. My other son, James Robert Junior, rented a unit in Heron Marsh and a niece rented in the same complex, so we had quite a family get-together the week of August 23rd. Shipyard Village has a splendid view of the ocean and my only regret is that we did not buy a unit there when I first retired. We hope to be back soon. James Robert Vaughn, Sr.

Response from the manager Thank you for taking the time to tell us about Shipyard B32. Litchfield By the Sea is a wonderful place! Many people have the same regret you do about not purchasing a place at the beach a few years ago. However, it's never too late!!!
