Very Good

“Great views, helpful maps and lovely gardens.”

Reviewed 25 Mar 2014

Geoff and Wendy provide a fantastic service at this beautiful spot in North Wales. It gives you stunning views from the living room and patio out across forest towards the mountains - the location couldn't be much better. The information provided in the house (maps of suggested walks, places to eat etc) were really useful and gave us plenty of good ideas, giving us the chance to make the most of area in the short time that we were there. If you can't decide then Geoff and Wendy can always help you out as well! We will definitely recommend the place to people we know and we'll hopefully go back again - though perhaps when there's less chance of hail!

Response from the owner Thank you, James and Emma, for your generous Review. And thanks for posting your nice photos onto this website - that's a first! We look forward to meeting you again and, hopefully, you will have better weather on your next visit. Geoff and Wendy

“e will be keeping in touch with them and staying with them again”

Geoff and Wendy are brilliant host, very helpful and nothing is to much trouble for them. they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The house is spotless and very well maintained and well supplied. The house and gardens are beautiful and well maintained. We had our 12 year old son and he loved it as well and our wheelchair bound mother who had no problems getting around the house and patio areas. we would very highly recommend this property and Geoff and Wendy as host. We will be keeping in touch and staying with them again in the future.

Response from the owner Dear Jackie, Rick and Jamie, Thank you for sending your Review to Trip Advisor. We are very pleased that you all enjoyed your stay here, and we are especially pleased that your elderly mother was comfortable and happy. I am not sure that we deserve the five stars that you awarded us, but we will do our best to keep up to it! We look forward to meeting you again. Sincerely, Geoffrey and Wendy

“very comfotable home, and super hosts!”

Geoffrey and Wendy went out of thier way to , make our stay very pleasant. Geoffrey even picked us up at the train as we could not get a car until the next day!The home is clean and comfortable with everything one needs in the kitchen.Enjoyed the local hikes and the Pont de Pairre (pub on the bridge).Gardens were beautiful, very private and relaxing, even tho we were busy trying to take in the countryside! 3

Response from the owner Dear Vivian and family, Thank you for posting this Trip Adviser review. We very much enjoyed your company and we are happy that you enjoyed your holiday, including our challenging narrow, steep roads. Next time you could explore more of them - that way you can see Snowdonia at its best. You certainly crammed a lot into your short stay with us! I expect that by now you have settled down in your Washington home and you will be out on the ocean fishing again....making plans for your winter skiing trips.....and sun-bathing in Hawaii..... Phew! Exhausting! We look forward to seeing you again next year......for another relaxing holiday in Wales. Yours sincerely, Geoffrey and Wendy

“Loved it!”

Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. Beds were very comfortable and the view from the huge window in the living room was just breath taking. Wendy's garden is amazing with lots & lots of beautiful & colourful flowers - what a peaceful setting! Geoffrey was very kind to tell us about places we could visit. The location is perfect for exploring Snowdonia & the north of Wales. We really enjoyed our stay and will visit again in the future!

Response from the owner Dear Gail, Monika and Seamus, Thank you for submitting your very nice review to Trip Adviser; we appreciate that. Wendy and I are both very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the Country Garden House, especially as you yourselves come from another beautiful place - the Island of Malta. We hope you had a good flight home and we look forward to meeting you all again sometime. Sincerely, Wendy and Geoffrey

“Fabulous home from home”

Geoffrey & Wendy's Country Garden House is a wonderful tranquil piece of heaven the gardens are fabulous and the house is spotlessly clean and comfortable with stunning views. You leave your stresses and strains at the entrance. We can honestly say it was a wonderful experience and nothing is too much trouble for Geoffrey & Wendy and they provided excellent advice on places and things to do what ever the weather. Will definately be back for anithet visit. Excellent value for money.

Response from the owner Dear Liz and Terry - and Woody Woodruff Thank you very much for your Trip Adviser Review. We are happy that you had a pleasant visit. I think you have hit the nail on the head in your reference to tranquillity and leaving stress and strain at the front door. Relax! Potter about the garden, wander into the woods, go for a stroll, see the sights of North Wales.... that is exactly how we feel ourselves and we are happy to share that feeling with our guests - although we haven't ever attempted to put it into words as such. We look forward to seeing you again sometime - if you can tear yourselves away from Liverpool, the UK home of laughter. Sincerely, Wendy and Geoffrey ?

“A haven of tranquility...”

This was our second week at Golygfa'r Llywelyn. It is an idyllic spot with amazing views over Snowdonia. Wendy and Geoff are wonderful hosts and thier garden alone is a wonderful reason to visit. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable with everything you could need for a home from home break. To wake in the morning to bird song, no traffic noise and a multicoloured vista not more than a metre from your bedroom window is an idyll to us. There is plenty to do in the area whatever your activity level - we balanced of some quite energetic walking with some more relaxed visits of gardens, tea rooms and galleries! We will be back next year.

Response from the owner Dear Glenys and Wynne, Thank you for posting such a complimentary review; we are very pleased indeed that you enjoyed your stay and we hope to see you again sometime. This week is our best for Rhododendrons and Azaleas - the garden is ablaze with colour, and we are busy planting out lots of Dahlias, Geraniums and Surfinia trailing plants around the terrace and "decking" areas, so the garden will be very cheerful right through to October. You are quite right; there's so much to see and do here in Snowdonia, North Wales. You could go for a different walk every day for a year without crossing your own path - so look forward to next year! Sincerely, Geoffrey and Wendy

Wendy and Geoffrey were great hosts and the accommodation was excellent. The views from the property are first class, the huge picture window in the lounge looking over Betws-y-Coed and the one in the dining area looking onto the garden kept us occupied watching the birds while eating dinner. We were lucky to have a brand new TV supplied as the one already in the lounge "gave up the ghost" the first evening we arrived sending Geoffrey off to the store to replace it. We were spoilt by the owners, even enjoying afternoon tea with them in their beautiful garden. We toured Nth Wales easily from the house but even a week didn't allow us enough time to see we had hoped. This is one location we hope to return to one day. Thanks guys for the great time.

Response from the owner Dear Mary and Alan, Thank you for your very nice review and thank you for coming to stay with us. We enjoyed your company and we had a few good laughs, too. What an epic the TV was! How our previous (French) guests managed to work the TV, I don't know. Your patience while it was all sorted out was much appreciated, thank you. Good comes from bad, and now we have a nice new flat-screen TV that anyone without a Masters' Degree in Electronic Engineering can easily operate. Even me. I expect that you are comfortably settled-in at home now, in Down Under. Hope you are getting adjusted to being the wrong-way-up again - even your sunrise is back-to-front! How you cope with Life down there, we just cannot imagine. We hope to see you again sometime but we quite understand that 10,000 miles is rather a long way to come to pop in for tea. But you will be very welcome! Sincerely, Wendy and Geoffrey

“A wonderful place to stop and smell the flowers.”

This self catering attached cottage in the hills of Wales was a wonderful find. It is a short downhill hike to Betws where you will find everything you need. Owners Wendy and Geoffrey are a font of information about the area and made us feel very welcome.

Response from the owner Dear Riley and Karen, Thank you for submitting your review to Trip Adviser. We are pleased that you enjoyed your short stay here and we hope that you might return for a longer holiday sometime. We also hope that you had a good barge trip on the Llangollen Canal and we are looking forward to hearing all about your crossing the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct/Viaduct!! Yours sincerely, Wendy and Geoffrey

“Enjoyable and relaxing experience”

Reviewed 25 May 2013

Excellent service received from start to finish even providing a useful inventory accommodation was lovely, views breathtaking and everything you needed was readily available including various maps and guides which proved very useful. Wendy and Geoffrey were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. An enjoyable and very relaxing holiday, would definitely recommend!

Response from the owner Dear Peter and Rachel, Thank you for your very nice review on Trip Adviser. We are always glad to receive feedback and we are very pleased indeed that you enjoyed your stay with us - that is the main thing from our pint of view. I seem to recall that the weather wasn't too good for you but, after you returned to "Up North", we experienced two heatwaves in succession! We look forward to meeting you again sometime. Sincerely, Geoffrey and Wendy

“Peacefull and relaxing”

Reviewed 19 May 2013

My partner and I stayed for a weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. We were met by Wendy who was very welcoming and showed us where everything was and was helpful without being intrusive. The location is stunning set high in the hills overlooking Snowdonia. The gardens are amazing with a profusion of colourful plants and everywhere you go there is a place to sit and take in the views. The accomodation is very nice and has every thing you could possibly want. The fold down bed in the lounge, should you need it, is as good as a regular bed and literally takes 30 seconds to take out and put away. There is a well presented kitchen with plenty of cooking equipment and utensils. There is free WiFi which is very useful and almost a librarys worth of information on places to visit and things to do. The single track road up is quite narrow but is so little used that we did not find it a problem. We will definately be returning in the future

Response from the owner Dear Colin and Ann, Thank you for posting such a nice review on Trip Adviser! It is very rewarding to know that you were comfortable here and enjoyed your stay, and that you appreciated our lovely garden. Your description of the whizz-away bed is clearer than mine on our website, so it will be very helpful to people enquiring in the future. We are very pleased indeed that you enjoyed your stay here and look forward to meeting you both again, sometime. Sincerely, Wendy and Geoffrey
